Durch den neuen Vorwärmer soll ein schnelles Erwärmen des Kesselspeisewassers durch Abdampf erreicht werden. Das Wasser wird in das Rohr α eingeführt, an welchem Säcke b angebracht sind, die von dem Wasser aus dem Rohr α gefüllt werden. Die Rohrsäcke sind so angeordnet, dafs der in den Behälter c tretende Abdampf von allen Seiten an denselben so vorbeistreichen mufs, dafs kein Dampf unbenutzt aus dem Behälter entweicht. Das Wasser beginnt nach kurzer Zeit in den Säcken b zu sieden, und es steigt das kochende Wasser in das Rohr α zurück, um sich hier mit dem frisch hinzutretenden Wasser zu mischen. Der Dampf könnte oben abgeführt werden, aber er kann auch, wie die Zeichnung zeigt, zuerst nach oben, dann aber wieder nach unten geführt werden. In diesem Falle wird der Behälter c durch eine Scheidewand w getheilt, so dafs der Dampf beim Hochgehen die an dem einen Rohrtheile und beim Nachuntengehen die an dem anderen Rohrtheile angebrachten Säcke bestreicht. Es könnten auch zwei oder mehrere mit einander verbundene Behälter angebracht werden. Die Rohrsäcke, welche verschiedene Formen erhallen können, werden zweckmäfsig an das Rohr α mittelst Flantschen geschraubt, so dafs sie nach Abnehmen des Behälters c bequem gereinigt werden können. Der Apparat kann auch zu Koch- und ähnlichen Zwecken Verwendung finden.The aim of the new preheater is to quickly heat the boiler feed water by means of exhaust steam.
