Description
As is well known, you can depilate and unroll green or softened skins Hides and skins, in addition to exposure to caustic chemicals, also under the Influence of tryptic enzymes depilated or de-wooled. The enzyme preparations that as a depilatory or as a mordant use come. in general . on the market as dry preparations. The action of the enzymes on the treated However, skins and hides have been used since the announcement of the pioneering patents 268 873 and 386 017, as can be seen from the relevant literature is, -in aqueous solution. According to this regulation, until now, without exception, the Experts proceed, with 300 to 500% water, based on the weight of the soaked hides, works. In the same way as the enzymatic dry preparations From bovine pancreas, dry products from sperm whale pancreas are also used. from the common depilatories, such as sodium sulfide, are known to have sprinkled on the meat side, or rubbed the skins with it. This could - however it cannot be concluded that this procedure is also suitable for enzymes, since they are two fundamentally different substances with different modes of action acts. When working with enzyme powder occurs in contrast to sodium sulfide powder in no way caused any damage to the hair, but it was to be feared that Enzymes attack the skin substance in such a concentrated form, which is surprising is not the case.
The requirement to use the enzymes in aqueous solution appears of course, since one is inclined to assume that the process of liming will take place as a biochemical process can only take place in solution. This well-founded view but above all experiences another support from the following fact: The hair removal Commercially available enzymes are without exception with a carrier substance, in in most cases mixed with kaolin and bound to it by adsorption. The enzyme portion in the usual commercial products is low and makes up, for example, only 1 percent by weight the end. The placing on the market of the biochemical active substances in a mixture with substances that are of no importance for the actual liming process, has been proven because the Dealing with concentrated enzyme preparations setting the desired concentration difficult for the artisan tanner in the liming broths. Simultaneously the enzymes are mixed with z. B. Kaolin from exposure to moisture largely protected and thus stabilized. To now that in only a small concentration enzymes contained in commercial products on the skin to be treated It seemed natural to let the enzyme-containing one come to its full effect Bring product into a liming broth and the enzymes with the help of a proportionate to dissolve a large amount of water from the carrier substance.
It is also known to the person skilled in the art that enzymatic depilation does not leads to satisfactory results in all cases. That could be true for calfskins Do not introduce dehairing with enzymes, nor for fresh, unpreserved ones Sheepskins; but also with dried and salted sheepskins it did not work enforced.
It has now been found that hides and skins break down with the help of protein-degrading Enzymes can be depilated or unrolled in an excellent way, if the biochemical Active ingredients not - as previously assumed as essential - dissolved in water or slurried, but applied in powder form to the soaked hides and skins will. According to the above, it must be described as surprising that the effect achieved in the manner described not only with the previously the enzyme solutions used achieve hair or wool loosening, but surpasses it by far.
By using the enzymes in powder form, it has become possible to achieve completely pure nakedness within 16 to 24 hours without any skin damage and with complete preservation of the hair. The present proceedings allows for the first time to sprinkle fresh, unpreserved sheepskins of the powdery enzyme product on the meat side. It continues to succeed es, calfskins as well as the heaviest cattle and bull hides by milling the softened ones Skins with the powdery enzyme product without prior alkaline swelling to depilate. It deserves to be highlighted with that help the powdery enzymes - in contrast to the usual enzymatic depilation or unrolling prescribed working method - the treatment of the hair to be depilated Pelts and hides are done at normal temperature, i.e. even at 18 to 20 ° C can. If you were to use the enzymatic process in the liquor in this Bringing temperature to effect would only produce poor results.
That of mold has proven to be particularly effective, especially of Aspergillus species produced tryptase. With the addition of carbohydrases the effectiveness of the proteolytic enzymes mentioned can be further increased "-earth.
The proteolytic enzymes can be used alone or together with activating agents, such as reducing sulfur compounds, nitrates or nitrites can be used. The addition of amnionitin salts or preservatives can also be advantageous be. It is noteworthy, however, that one also works in the described manner without special activating additives, especially in the case of enzymatically difficult to access Raw material, e.g. B. with green sheepskins, gets by.
It has proven to be advantageous when processing dried raw materials proven to let the switch run off under the action of bacterial protease and then sprinkle on an enzyme product based on mold tryptase. Depilation can take place immediately after the appropriate storage period; with Pelts powdered with the enzyme preparation can also be stored for a few hours first covered with water and then depilated or de-wooled.
After dehairing or unrolling, the pelts need an alkaline one be subjected to swelling liming of the usual type. Also post-treatment with caustic alkalis is possible. The latter first method leads to particularly pure and even nakedness dyeable leathers.
Band, 2. Teil, »Die ZGasserwerkstatt«, S.260, 261) bestimmt. Nach 18 bis 20 Stunden kann entwollt «-erden.If you take bacterial protease in place of mold trapase alone or when used together with carbohydrase, one has to use more enzyme or longer let absorb. But also with pancreatic cryptase one can get usable results come, which is particularly noteworthy, since it has not been possible so far, using pancreatic cryptase to achieve usable hair removal without alkaline pre-swelling. One must however, take at least three times as much enzyme from pancreatic tryptase as from mold tryptase and will still not achieve the same easy depilation or dilation. Example 1 green, d. H. unpreserved sheepskins are used for 20 to 30 minutes Washed out running water to remove Schinutz and blood, and then on the meat side with powdery mold tryptase from Aspergillus parasiticus and sprinkled with a suitable preservative. The action of the powdery Mold tryptase occurs at 18 to 20 ° C. The enzymatic effectiveness of the The mold tryptase used corresponds to 7500 Löhlein-Volhard units. the Effectiveness was determined according to the method given by Löh 1 e i n - V o 1 h a r d (Handbook of tannery chemistry and leather production by Bergmann - G r a s s m a n n, published by Julius Springer, Vienna, 1938, 1st volume, 2nd part, "Die ZGasserwerkstatt", 260, 261). After 18 to 20 hours it can be de-wooled.
When using bacterial protease, the 'loosening' requires under the same conditions for a long time.

Example 7 Dry goat skins become 6.5 with a 1> F1 and with enzymatically soaked at a temperature of 18 to 20 ° C. Then it is done with water of 25 ° C post-treated. The skins tempered in this way with 0.06% powdery mold, their effectiveness is 375,000 Löhlein-Volhard units is, which is used in concentrated form, sprinkled or in the Fa, ß Walked for 20 minutes. Already after 4 to 5 hours of exposure to the tryptase Pelts in the barrel asher can be depilated. Which are used in concentrated form As expected, the coming enzymes lead to hair loosening in a shorter time than the one above Carrier substances bound tryptases. Whether you use carrier-containing enzyme products or Working with concentrates is primarily based on imputed considerations depend.
