Hintergrund und Problemstellungbackground and problem
Chem. 2001, 112, 3926).Literary ionic liquids consist of anions such as B. halides, halogenostannates, halogenoferrates, Halogenoaluminates, hexafluorophosphates, tetrafluoroborates, alkyl and aryl sulfonates or alkyl sulfates combined with ammonium, Phosphonium, imidazolium, pyrazolium or pyridinium cations, where the latter in almost all cases with saturated, linear or saturated, branched hydrocarbon chains with 1 to 18 carbon chains are substituted (P. Wasserscheid, W. Keim, Angew. Chem. 2001, 112, 3926).
However, there are also a few Examples of such ionic liquids known in an N-alkyl chain of an imidazolium or ammonium cation an oxygen, Sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or several oxygen, sulfur and / or carry nitrogen atoms.
A. E. Visser, R. P. Swatlowski, W. M. Reichert, J. H. Davis, Jr., R. D. Rogers, R. Mayton, S. Sheff, A. Wirzbicki, Chem. Comm. 2001, 135–136; A. E. Visser, R. P. Swatlowski, W. M. Reichert, R. Mayton, S. Sheff, A. Wirzbicki, J. H. Davis, Jr., R. D. Rogers, Environmental Science & Technology. 2002, 36, 2523–2529).Davis and Rogers described low-melting imidazolium salts on which one of the N-alkyl chains was functionalized in a multistage reaction with urea, thiourea, or thioether groups. These ionic liquids were used as [PF 6 ] - salts in pure form or dissolved in unfunctionalized hexafluorophosphate melts in order to extract Hg 2+ or Cd 2+ ions from aqueous solution (AE Visser, RP Swatlowski, WM Reichert, JH Davis, Jr., RD Rogers, R. Mayton, S. Sheff, A. Wirzbicki, Chem. Comm. 2001, 135-136; AE Visser, RP Swatlowski, WM Reichert, R. Mayton, S. Sheff, A. Wirzbicki, JH Davis, Jr., RD Rogers, Environmental Science & Technology. 2002, 36, 2523-2529).
Von ionischen Flüssigkeiten basierend auf Ammoniumsalzen vom Typ [Me3NCH2CH2Y)Cl, mit Y = OH, Cl, OC(O)Me und OC(O)Ph, und Kombinationen dieser Salze mit den Lewis-Säure ZnCl2 oder SnCl2, berichteten Abbott und Mitarbeiter (A. P. Abbott, G. Capper, D. L. Davies, H. L. Munro, R. K. Rasheed, V. Tambyrajahm, Chem. Comm. 2001. 2010-2011). Of ionic liquids based on ammonium salts of the type [Me 3 NCH 2 CH 2 Y) Cl, with Y = OH, Cl, OC (O) Me and OC (O) Ph, and combinations of these salts with the Lewis acid ZnCl 2 or SnCl 2 , reported by Abbott and co-workers (AP Abbott, G. Capper, DL Davies, HL Munro, RK Rasheed, V. Tambyrajahm, Chem. Comm. 2001. 2010-2011). Likewise functionalized ammonium salts with melting points below 100 ° C were disclosed by Wasserscheid et al. in WO 0155060, in which case the ammonium cation has at least one chiral carbon atom and the functional groups claimed are ether, thioether and / or alcohol functionalities.
A. M. Afonso, Chemistry 2002, 8 (16), 3671–3677).Afonso and co-workers reported ionic liquids whose imidazolium cations carry ether and / or alcohol functionalities in the N-alkyl chain. They investigated the solubility of LiCl, HgCl 2 and LaCl 3 and found that the ionic liquid with a functionalized side chain has a significantly higher solubility for the metal cations than the corresponding unfunctionalized systems (LC Branco, JN Rosa, RJ Moura, CAM Afonso, Chemistry 2002, 8 (16), 3671-3677).

Famelart, J. P. Bazureau, Org. Proc. Fraga-Dubreuil, M.-H Famelart, JP Bazureau, Org. Proc. Res. 2002, 6, 374-378).
Ferner veröffentlichten Davis und Mitarbeiter die Reaktion von Alkylimidazolverbindungen mit Haloalkylaminen zu den entsprechenden Amino-funktionalisierten Imidazoliumhalogenid-Verbindungen (E. D. Bates, R. D. Mayton, I. Ntai, J.H. Davis, Jr. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2002, 124, 926–927). Davis and co-workers also published the reaction of alkylimidazole compounds with haloalkylamines to the corresponding amino-functionalized imidazolium halide compounds (ED Bates, RD Mayton, I. Ntai, JH Davis, Jr. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2002, 124, 926- 927). The ionic liquids thus obtained were used to reversibly bind CO 2 , the authors attributing this property of the melt to the presence of the amino functionality in the N-alkyl chain of the imidazolium cation.
- 1) Ionic liquids with ammonium cations, which carry an ether, alcohol, halide, methyl or phenyl ester functionality in one of their N-alkyl chains, are known, the substances having methyl or phenyl ester functionality have so far only been described as chloride salts or as chloride salts in combination with the Lewis acids ZnCl 2 and SnCl 2 . Furthermore, ionic liquids with imidazolium cations are known which carry an ether, thioether, alcohol, halide, urea, thiourea or amine functionality in one of their N-alkyl chains. Ionic liquids with ammonium or imidazolium cations which carry one or more functional groups with one oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or more oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom in several of their N-alkyl groups are hitherto unknown. Likewise ionic liquids with pyridinium, phosphonium or pyrazolium cations, which carry in one or more of their N-alkyl chains a functional group or several functional groups with one oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or several oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atoms previously unknown.
- 2) It is clear to the person skilled in the art that the presence of a functional group with one oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or more oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atoms in an N-alkyl chain of an ammonium or imidazolium cation an ionic liquid, this ionic liquid compared to the unfunctionalized ionic liquid gives new, technically interesting properties. In particular, an increased solubility of metal cations and an improvement in viscosity have been demonstrated. The increased solubility for metal cations is of considerable technical importance for applications as a solvent for metal-catalyzed reactions and for material separation processes. The reduced viscosity improves the general manageability of the ionic liquid and reduces the energy consumption during pumping and mixing.
- 3) So far, all syntheses of the known ionic liquids with ammonium or imidazolium cations which carry a functional group with one oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or several oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom in one of their N-alkyl groups, complicated multi-stage procedures. As a rule, the amine or imidazole compound is first alkylated, then functionalized and, finally, an ion exchange is carried out. In all other known syntheses of ionic liquids with ammonium or imidazolium cations, which carry a functional group with one oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or several oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom in one of their N-alkyl groups, is first synthesized a functionalized alkylating agent in a multi-stage synthesis, which is then reacted with an amine or imidazole. This is often followed by an anion exchange. The complicated synthesis of the previously known ionic liquids with ammonium or imidazolium cations, which carry a functional group with one oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or more oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom in one of their N-alkyl groups, and the associated low overall yields make the production of the previously known ionic liquids with ammonium or imidazolium cations, which in one of their N-alkyl groups is a functional group with one oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom or more oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen atom contribute to a costly and time-consuming undertaking. In spite of the obvious, technically interesting properties that these ionic liquids have compared to unfunctionalized ionic liquids, this difficult access by known processes has hitherto prevented a broader technical application of these compounds.
- 4) So far, no ionic liquids are known which carry a functional group in the N-alkyl chain of an ammonium or imidazolium cation, in which the functional group comprises a keto, aldeyhd, cyano, amide alkyl amide, dialkyl amide, alkylamino, dialkylamino group and an alkyl ester group with an alkyl group other than the methyl group or an aryl ester group with an aryl group other than the phenyl group.
