Letztere besteht im Wesentlichen aus einem auf einer Verbindungsstange angeordneten, axial verschiebbaren Sperrkegel, einer mit dem Getriebegehäuse verbundenen Führungsplatte und einer auf einer Wählwelle befestigten Rastenscheibe, über welche die Verbindungsstange mit dem Sperrkegel betätigt wird. Beim Einlegen der Parksperre (Stellung „P" des Wählhebels am Automatgetriebe) drückt der Sperrkegel die Sperrklinke in die Verzahnung des Parksperrenrades und stützt sich dabei gegen die Führungsplatte ab. Beim Auslegen der Parksperre wird der Sperrkegel axial verschoben und gibt die unter erheblicher Spannung stehende Sperrklinke frei.
