Description
The invention relates to an exterior mirror for vehicles, in particular for motor vehicles, according to the preamble of claim 1.
External rear-view mirrors are known, one in the mirror head Have ambient light. When folding the mirror head out of his In the parking position, the ambient light becomes out of it optimal position, in the area next to the vehicle door Illuminated, pivoted so that this area is no longer covered becomes.
The invention has for its object a To design exterior rearview mirrors of this type in such a way that they are simple in design both in the use and in the non-use position of the The area next to the vehicle through the mirror head Ambient light can be illuminated perfectly.
This task is carried out in an exterior rearview mirror Generic type according to the invention with the characteristic features of claim 1 solved.
As a result of the training according to the invention, the second Light emitted in the folded position of the Mirror head essentially on the same floor area emitted like the light from the first lamp when the Mirror head is in the position of use. This can be done easily Same way with the mirror head in the park position Floor area next to the vehicle door illuminated perfectly be so that bumps, dirt or Objects on the floor by the driver or front passenger perfectly can be recognized.
Further features of the invention result from the others Claims, the description and the drawings.
Es zeigt: The invention is described below with reference to one of the drawings illustrated embodiment described in more detail. It shows:
Fig. 1 einen erfindungsgemäßen Außenrückblickspiegel, Fig. 1 is an exterior rear view mirror according to the invention,
I in Fig. 3, Fig. 2 is a mirror head of the exterior rear-view mirror according to the invention in a view in accordance with arrow I in Fig. 3,
Fig. 3 einen Schnitt längs der Linie II-II in Fig. 2. Fig. 3 is a section along the line II-II in Fig. 2.
Fig. 1 shows an exterior rearview mirror with a mirror head 1 , which is attached to the body of a vehicle with a mirror base 2 in a known manner. The mirror head 1 is articulated on the mirror base 2 and can be pivoted from the position of use shown in FIG. 1 into a folded-down parking position. It has a housing 3 with a side wall 4 and a rear wall 5 . The side wall 4 has a housing opening 6 at a distance from the rear wall 5 , in which a mirror glass 7 ( FIG. 1) lies. In the lower edge area 8 of the housing 3 , an ambient light 9 is arranged, which contains a first illuminant 10 and a second illuminant 11 . The ambient light 9 has a light housing 12 which has a curved bottom 13 with two bottom sections 13 ', 13 "which are curved in cross section. A correspondingly curved reflector 14 with reflector sections 14 ' and 14 " is arranged on the bottom sections 13 'and 13 " The first illuminant 10 lies in the center of curvature of the reflector section 14 'and the second illuminant 11 lies in the center of curvature of the second reflector section 14 ". With the illuminant 10 , the floor area next to the vehicle is illuminated in the position of use of the mirror head 1 . If the mirror head 1 is folded into its parking position, then the lamp 10 is preferably switched off automatically and the lamp 11 is switched on. The reflector section 14 "is designed such that the light emitted by the illuminant 11 is directed onto the at least approximately the same floor area next to the vehicle onto which the light emitted by the illuminant 10 and reflected by the reflector section 14 'falls when the mirror head 1 is in its position This ensures that, regardless of the position of the mirror head 1 , the approximately same floor area next to the vehicle is illuminated.
The lamp housing 12 of the surrounding lamp 9 has a housing opening 15 which is closed with a light window 16 . It has an essentially central projection 17 , which lies in an opening 18 in the lower edge region 8 of the housing 3 . The outside 19 of the light window 17 is preferably flush with the outside of the housing 3 . In the area next to the projection 17 , the light window 16 lies flat on the inside 20 of the housing 3 . At the edge, the light window 16 is overlapped by the edge 21 of the lamp housing 13 , which is z-shaped in cross section. This edge 21 rests on the rear side 22 of the light window 16 and on its outer edge 23 . In this way, the light window 16 is secured by the lamp housing 13 and does not have to be attached separately to the mirror head housing 3 . The lamp housing 13 itself can be detachably held on the housing 3 .
The light emitted by the illuminant 9 passes through the section 17 of the light window 16 to the outside and falls down onto the floor area next to the vehicle door. As a result, the driver or front passenger can correctly recognize in the dark whether objects, water, dirt or the like are present on the floor. When the mirror head 1 is placed in the parking position on the vehicle, the first lamp 10 is switched off and the second lamp 11 is switched on, so that the floor area next to the vehicle door is still illuminated despite the mirror head 1 being folded down. Thus, the floor area in addition to the vehicle can also be optimally illuminated when the mirror is not in use, so that the driver can correctly recognize the floor area.
The convexly curved reflector sections 14 ′ and 14 ″ are designed in such a way that they ensure optimum illumination of the floor area via the first illuminant 10 or the second illuminant 11 .
The lamps 10 and 11 can also be arranged in a different way. The reflector sections 14 ', 14 "are always designed in such a way that it is ensured in each case that the same floor area next to the vehicle is illuminated in both positions of the mirror head 1 .
The lamps 10 , 11 are accommodated in the exemplary embodiment in the common lamp housing 13 . A lamp housing can also be provided for each of the lamps 10 , 11 . In such a case, the two illuminants can also radiate downwards through their own light window. The housing 3 can each have an opening 18 for the two light windows.
A control device (not shown) can be provided in the vehicle door to actuate the lamps 10 and 11 . Depending on the position of the mirror head 1, it can be used to switch on or off one or the other illuminant or, if necessary, both illuminants. Instead of such a control device, a limit switch can also be provided with a purely mechanical design, which switches on the first illuminant 10 or also additionally the second illuminant 11 in the position of use of the mirror head 1 . Accordingly, when the mirror head is folded down via the limit switch, the first lamp 10 is switched off and the second lamp 11 is switched on. The lamp or lamps 10 , 11 can, for. B. also be turned on wirelessly, e.g. B. when opening the vehicle door using a remote control.
It is possible both in the use position and in the park position of the mirror head 1 to switch on both lamps 10 , 11 .
