Description
Currently, the use of bezels made of glass materials is preferred for a variety of reasons. On the one hand, the coolness felt when touching is felt to be pleasant to the touch, and the high transparency of the glass material and the gracefulness of the surfaces produced as a result are usually perceived as very valuable by the viewer. A disadvantage is the comparatively complex and thus expensive production and the weight of such covers, in particular when the cover has to have a certain thickness in order to be able to integrate three-dimensional surface contours into the surface of the panel. Due to the risk of breakage and the associated formation of splinters, there is a not inconsiderable risk of injury, so that the integration of covers consisting entirely or partially of glass materials in the area of the dashboard in motor vehicles is usually prohibited. The production of a cover from plastic involves the risk that the cover, in particular its visible surface, will be slightly scratched not only during further processing and finishing. Irrespective of the material, such as glass or plastic, further processing steps of the base body belonging to the screen are usually necessary, including, for example, a region-wise coating, in particular PVD coating, of the base body. In order to obtain sharp-edged transitions from the coated to the uncoated area, a masking layer is required, which forms a mask in order to avoid a complete coating or at least a coating outside the area of the base body to be coated. Ideally, this masking layer also serves as an easily removable protective layer with the aim of avoiding damage to the visible surface
Against this background, there was a need for a method for producing a generic diaphragm whose visible surface is better protected against damage during the further processing steps and the masking layer used in this case also serves as a mask for further coating. This object is achieved by a manufacturing method according to claim 1. An equally advantageous use and a correspondingly advantageous screen are each the subject of the independent claims. Advantageous configurations are each the subject of the dependent claims. It should be pointed out that the features listed individually in the claims can be combined with one another in any technologically meaningful manner and show further refinements of the invention. The description, in particular in connection with the figures, additionally characterizes and specifies the invention.
The invention relates to a method for producing a coated panel, in particular for a motor vehicle. In an early, possibly first step of the method according to the invention, a base body made of a transparent or translucent material is arranged in a first shaping tool so that a cavity is formed between the base body and the first shaping tool. In a subsequent step, the base body is overmolded in a shaping process step, preferably a thermal shaping process step, with the introduction of a thermoplastic elastomer into the aforementioned cavity, around a masking layer made of the thermoplastic elastomer and adhering to a first side of the base body that contains a visible surface to bring up. The visible surface is understood to be the surface that faces the viewer, for example the person sitting in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, such as the driver or passenger, when the panel is arranged as intended. In this case, an unmasked, second side of the basic body that is masked in certain areas remains. For example, the second side is a surface of the base body that faces away from the viewer when the panel is attached as intended, which is also referred to as the rear side. The base body is formed from a glass material, for example; the base body is preferably formed from a transparent or translucent plastic, most preferably from a transparent or translucent thermoplastic.
According to a preferred variant, the first side and/or the second side of the base body has one or more three-dimensional contours.
The contour is preferably formed in each case from flat surfaces, most preferably it is in each case a contour forming one or more straight edges. For example, rhombic, facet-like and/or prismatic structures are provided in the surface of the base body. The surface of the base body is preferably multifaceted in order to imitate the optical impression of a cut diamond. As a result, optically attractive light-refracting effects can be set, which make the aperture appear more attractive.
In a chronologically subsequent step, the basic body, masked in certain areas, is demoulded from the first shaping work tool, for example by separating the tool halves belonging to the first shaping tool.
In a chronologically following step or in several chronologically following steps following demoulding, the unmasked, second side of the partially masked base body is coated once or multiple times, with at least one metallic layer, hereinafter referred to as the metal layer, being applied to the base body. The thickness of the metal layer is preferably chosen such that the metal layer is translucent. The metal layer is preferably applied by gas phase deposition, such as chemical or physical gas phase deposition, with the masking layer serving as a mask and coating of the first side of the base body being prevented. For example, the metal layer is applied by sputtering or so-called non-conductive vacuum metallizing (NCVM). In this way, at least one metal layer is formed on the unmasked, second side of the base body that is masked in some areas.
In a subsequent, optional step, that is to say an optional and preferred step, the base body, which is masked and coated in some areas, is joined to a carrier. For example, the carrier and the base body are connected in a materially, non-positively and/or form-fitting manner. The masking layer serves as an orientation and alignment aid when joining the base body and carrier.
In a subsequent, optional step, the masking layer is also removed from the base body. For example, the removal step takes place before or during the final assembly of the panel at the intended location in the motor vehicle. Removal is done without tools, for example.
In one embodiment, it is provided that after the removal step, a sealing layer is applied to the first side of the base body in a final coating step. For example, in a painting process, a paint is applied to increase the scratch resistance and/or UV resistance of the base body. The sealing layer is preferably applied in such a way that, starting from the first side, it overlaps the edge of the metal layer and the transition from the metal layer to the base body is thus sealed by the sealing layer.
According to the invention, the masking layer not only serves as a mask during the application of the metal layer, but also serves to at least temporarily protect the visible surface from mechanical damage and also to facilitate handling in the further processing step and also during assembly. The use of the thermoplastic elastomer guarantees reliable, residue-free removal of the masking layer without the risk of mechanical damage to the visible surface of the base body, but also ensures reliable separation from the metal layer, which therefore shows no signs of detachment. The removal can take place without tools since, for example, an integral connection between the masking layer and the base body is ruled out.
The base body is preferably produced from a thermoplastic material in a step preceding the arrangement in a thermal shaping process. For example, the base body is produced in a second, shaping tool. This second shaping tool preferably has a film sprue channel, so that the base body has a film sprue. A film sprue channel is understood, for example, as an access for the inflow of the thermoplastic into the associated cavity of the second shaping tool, the access having a cross section with a dimension that approximately corresponds to that of the cavity at the transition between the cavity and the access, in order to ensure a uniform inflow of the thermoplastic to reach.
The material, in particular the thermoplastic material, of the base body preferably has a lower elasticity than the thermoplastic elastomer.
Das thermoplastische Elastomer ist bevorzugt aus einer TPE-S 01, TPE-S 02, TPE-V, TPE-E, TPE-E, TPE-E 01, TPE-E 02, TPE-U. Bio-TPE 01, Bio TPE 02 umfassenden Materialgruppe ausgewählt.The thermoplastic elastomer is preferably made of a TPE-S 01, TPE-S 02, TPE-V, TPE-E, TPE-E, TPE-E 01, TPE-E 02, TPE-U. Bio-TPE 01, Bio-TPE 02 comprehensive group of materials selected.
The masking layer preferably forms a tab projecting beyond the base body. The tab serves, for example, as a positioning and alignment aid in the further production steps such as coating.
The first shaping tool preferably has a first tool half with a depression for receiving the base body in a form-fitting manner, with the cavity provided for shaping the masking layer being formed exclusively by the second tool half. For example, the sink is designed so that at the peripheral edge of the sink, this is set back from the surface of the first shaping tool, which is used to rest with the second tool half of the first shaping tool is determined, of at least 0.2 mm, so that the base body is securely fixed as a pre-moulded part during injection. For example, the first shaping tool is designed in such a way that the masking layer runs out at the end faces of the base body connecting the first side and second side, so that the transition from the masked and unmasked area runs along the end faces of the base body, for example by at least 0.2 mm to the metal-coated second side of the base body.
The invention also relates to a screen, which has a base body made of a transparent or translucent material, a masking layer made of a thermoplastic elastomer that adheres to a first side of the masked base body that contains a visible surface, and a masking layer on an unmasked, second side of the base body that is masked in certain areas has applied metal layer. The visible surface is understood to be the surface that faces the viewer, for example the person sitting in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, such as the driver or passenger, when the panel is arranged as intended. For example, the second side is a surface of the base body that faces away from the viewer when the panel is attached as intended, which is also referred to as the rear side.
The base body is formed from a glass material, for example; the base body is preferably formed from a transparent or translucent plastic; the base body is mostly preferably formed from a transparent or translucent thermoplastic.
The metal layer is preferably translucent. According to the invention, the masking layer serves both to at least temporarily protect the visible surface from mechanical damage and to facilitate handling in the further processing step and during assembly. The use of the thermoplastic elastomer guarantees reliable, residue-free removal of the masking layer without the risk of mechanical damage to the visible surface of the base body, but also prevents the metal layer from becoming detached where the masking layer and metal layer meet. The removal can take place without tools since, for example, an integral connection between the masking layer and the base body is ruled out.
The base body is preferably made of a thermoplastic material. The material, in particular the thermoplastic material, of the base body preferably has a lower elasticity than the thermoplastic elastomer.
Bevorzugt ist das thermoplastische Elastomer aus einer TPE-S 01, TPE-S 02, TPE-V, TPE-E, TPE-E, TPE-E 01, TPE-E 02, TPE-U. Bio-TPE 01, Bio TPE 02 umfassenden Materialgruppe ausgewählt.The thermoplastic elastomer is preferably made from a TPE-S 01, TPE-S 02, TPE-V, TPE-E, TPE-E, TPE-E 01, TPE-E 02, TPE-U. Bio-TPE 01, Bio-TPE 02 comprehensive group of materials selected.
The masking layer preferably forms a tab projecting beyond the base body. The tab serves, for example, as a positioning and alignment aid in the further production steps such as coating.
A carrier is preferably fixed to the base body, for example by means of an integral, form-fitting or force-fitting connection.
The invention further relates to a screen which has a base body made of a transparent or translucent material and a sealing layer applied preferably directly to a first side of the base body containing a visible surface. The base body is preferably made of a thermoplastic material. The panel also has at least one preferably translucent metal layer applied to a second side of the base body, facing away from the first side, with an edge delimiting the metal layer. The sealing layer is applied in such a way that the sealing layer extends from the first side over the edge of the metal layer and overlaps the edge of the metal layer in order to seal the transition from the metal layer to the base body through the sealing layer, for example.
The edge of the metal layer is preferably arranged on at least one end face of the base body connecting the first side and the second side of the base body and runs around the base body. For example, the edge runs around at least Offset at least 0.2 mm to the metal-coated second side of the base body.
A carrier is preferably fixed to the base body, for example by means of an integral, form-fitting or force-fitting connection.
The invention also relates to the use of the panel in one of the previously described embodiments in a motor vehicle.
