Das gattungsgemäße Verfahren beruht auf der Verwendung von Quersiegeleinheiten, die jeweils mehrere unabhängig voneinander beheizbare Siegelelemente umfassen. Beim Quersiegeln der Quersiegelnähte einer bestimmten Art von Schlauchbeuteln, verfolgt dann die Abschaltung einzelner oder mehrerer dieser Siegelelemente, wobei sich die Kontur des Füllgutvolumens entlang der Quersiegelnähte durch die abgeschalteten Siegelelemente ergibt. Dies bedeutet mit anderen Worten, dass die Summe der Siegelelemente ein beheizbares Feld in der Quersiegeleinheit bilden, wobei durch die gezielte Abschaltung einzelner dieser Siegelelemente die Form der konturierten Quersiegelnaht definiert wird. Durch einfaches Umprogrammieren der Heizeinrichtung der Quersiegeleinheiten, ist es dann möglich, kostengünstig und flexibel die Kontur der Quersiegelnähte in die jeweils gewünschte Form der Kontur des Füllgutvolumens abzustimmen.The generic method is based on the use of transverse sealing units, each of which comprises a plurality of sealing elements that can be heated independently of one another. Gemäß einer bevorzugten Verfahrensvariante ist es vorgesehen, dass in jeweils zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Quersiegelnähten unterschiedliche Siegelelemente abgeschaltet bzw. zugeschaltet werden, um an der oberen Quersiegelnaht des Schlauchbeutel und an der unteren Quersiegelnaht des Schlauchbeutel jeweils unterschiedliche füllgutvolumenbegrenzende Konturen zu erzeugen.
