The term mask "masḫara" comes from Arabic and means a face covering. It is used for disguise and costuming, such as in the theater, in art performances, as well as for ritual and religious purposes. She also stands for teasing, fool, farce and joke. Originally, masks or larvae were described as plastic structures made of natural materials such as plant parts, leather, wood, clay or cloth worn in front of the face. The general covering of the body with half masks or full-body masks is also referred to as a masquerade. Currently, masks are mainly made of plastics. A mask can fulfill very different tasks in different contexts.
Protective masks, on the other hand, are primarily used to protect the face or parts of it, such as eyes, skin, mouth, nose and ears and then the respiratory tract and lungs. This enables protection against foreign substances such as chemicals, heat, cold, dust, splinters or excessive light (which occurs, for example, during welding), but also against the inhalation and exhalation of droplets (aerosol). Breathing masks and medical mouth and nose protection are typical here.
Schutzmasken können nach Anwendung unterschieden werden, wie mechanische Schutzmasken, Atemmasken, Sportmasken, Infektionsschutzmasken, Mund-Nasen-Bedeckungen u.a.Protective masks can be differentiated according to application, such as mechanical protective masks, breathing masks, sports masks, infection protection masks, mouth and nose covers, etc.
Masks of different types in terms of shape, number of layers, material and attachment to the head, which serve to protect against infection, are generally known as the state of the art for mouth and nose covers. Many are only disposable items, reusable mouth-nose masks avoid waste. Various types in different designs and different materials or material configurations are available on the market for this purpose.

The object of the invention is to provide a machine method and a mouth-nose mask for To provide protection against infection and work, which represents an optimum in terms of production and handling as well as filter-technical values due to its design and material selection.
According to the invention, the object is achieved by a mask and a production method according to claim 1. Advantageous subclaims are disclosed in the dependent subclaims. Preferred developments of the invention result from the combinations of the claims or individual features thereof.
The mouth-nose mask according to the invention is made in one piece and has an oval basic embodiment, so that both the protective and the holding function are integrated into it. This oval has no cut-outs in the chin, mouth and nose area and has rounded cut-outs between the nose and ears in the upper area for the eyes. The top edge of the nosepiece is set back slightly inward from the oval, "destroying" the oval. Slightly slanted oval recesses are available on the more pointed oval ends of the mask for attachment to the ears. Due to the mechanical manufacturing process, the masks are completely formed and reproduced in the oval and realized in a single operation by special cutting out of a material web.
Das Oval steht im Verhältnis von Breite zu Höhe von 2,3 : 1,0 bis 1,9 : 1,0, bevorzugt von 2,0 : 1,0. Die Oberkante der Nasenbedeckung ist vom 1% bis 15% zurückgesetzt, bevorzugt 12,5%.The oval has a width to height ratio of 2.3:1.0 to 1.9:1.0, preferably 2.0:1.0. The top of the nosepiece is recessed from 1% to 15%, preferably 12.5%.
To protect against infection and work, the mask is made of an elastic non-woven fabric, preferably knitted from polyester, preferably with a basis weight of 155 g/m², an air permeability of 547 l/m² and a retention rate of 3 µm particles with 81% and the size 1 µm with 79%.
Der zur Anwendung kommende Vliesstoff besitzt folgende Besonderheiten, der Stretch-Charakter, Knitterfreiheit, Nicht-Ausfransen, Waschbar- und Bedruckbarkeit. The non-woven fabric used has the following special features: the stretch character, crease resistance, non-fraying, washability and printability.
Advantages of the mask according to the invention are the simple handling of the mask during use, which allows it to be put on with just one hand to attach it to the ears through defined ear cutouts, and also to be removed. Due to the stretch character of the material, which is 15% to 30%, preferably 25%, the mask fits well on the face without being extremely tight. If the mask is too wide, it can be shortened by turning one or both ear mounts once or several times, so that the mask is also suitable for children without any additional effort.
The manufacturing process also allows personalized printing on the mouth-nose mask.
The special features of the invention and the manufacturing process lie in the flat, one-piece design made of an elastic non-woven fabric and the machine production by complete formation of the mask by machine cutting out of a material web in a single operation, which can be specifically printed in a special preliminary process.
The manufacturing process for the personalized production of the mouth-nose masks is divided into three detailed steps and is based on the processing of rolled goods. First, the motifs are digitally printed inverted on a paper web with water-based ink according to ecological standard requirements and pre-dried in a dryer to avoid abrasion during further processing. The paper is special transfer paper that absorbs the ink well during the printing process and dries quickly, and releases the required amount of ink again during calendering. The ink then has to be transferred from the paper web to the nonwoven and fixed in a calender by evaporation. The paper web and the nonwoven are laid on top of each other without any creases, clamped in the machine and continuously calendered with sufficient pressure, a temperature of approx. 195 degrees C and a fixing time of 50 s. This processing is the sublimation printing process. In the last processing step, the non-woven web is pulled onto the cutting machine with a flat work surface of approx. 3 m x 3 m. A suitable negative pressure prevents the material from slipping at high processing speeds. The position of all masks on the workspace already mentioned can be determined using previously printed markings. The mouth-nose masks are then completely cut out of the elastic non-woven fabric using a cutting module that guides a decagonal, rotating blade. This cutting module ensures low pushing forces on the material and precise cutting edges.
