Description
The invention relates to a method for vacuum cleaning a surface using a suction head. The invention also relates to a suction head for a vacuum cleaner and a vacuum cleaner with a suction head.
A vacuum cleaner has a housing. The motor, fan, filter unit and electronic devices are arranged in this housing. A suction tube, which is often telescopically adjustable in length, is connected to this housing. The suction tube has at its one end a mostly releasably attached suction head which comes into contact with the surface to be cleaned. At its other end, the suction tube is rigidly connected to the vacuum cleaner housing or the fan with the vacuum cleaner with a canister vacuum cleaner with the help of a flexible suction hose. In the case of hand-held vacuum cleaners, a handle is attached to the housing, such as a handle or a handle, while the housings of cylinder vacuum cleaners are generally provided with rollers.
Regardless of whether it is a floor or hand vacuum cleaner, the vacuum generated by the motor and fan is transferred to the surface to be cleaned by means of a suction nozzle of the suction head. The suction air flowing in the direction of the fan, which contains the dust and dirt (suction material) sucked up by means of such a suction nozzle, is passed through a filter system in the vacuum cleaners known from the prior art and released back into the room as filtered exhaust air.
When vacuuming, emissions of all kinds are always felt to be disadvantageous.
This primarily concerns the emission of dust, which is sucked up from the cleaned surface and transported with the suction air and, due to the limited efficiency of the filters used, is released back into the room together with the exhaust air. In particular, the filtering of the non-visible, but nonetheless harmful to health, fine dust is often imperfect. The inadequate filter performance is usually already evident from a corresponding smell when a previously used device is put into operation.
Regardless of the fact that conventional vacuum cleaners emit dust with the exhaust air, vacuum cleaners are also often perceived as disturbing sources of noise during operation, which results from both the operation of the motors and the noise of the air ejection.
In addition, it has proven to be disadvantageous that conventional vacuum cleaners show weaknesses in the absorption of flat particles, especially when these lie on surfaces that are just as flat and adhere adhesively there due to static charging.
An object of the present invention is to prevent the emission of dust with the exhaust air of the vacuum cleaner.
This object is achieved by a method according to claim 1 or a suction head according to
The method according to the invention for vacuum cleaning a surface using a vacuum cleaner with a suction head is characterized in that filtered suction air is returned to the suction head. This prevents the emission of dust with the exhaust air of the vacuum cleaner.
Instead of using a larger number of filters or improved filter systems, the invention proposes to avoid dust emissions to use a vacuum cleaner in which the escape of exhaust air from the vacuum cleaner is excluded from the outset. According to the invention, in such a vacuum cleaner without exhaust air, the filtered suction air is not released into the room as exhaust air, but is returned to the suction head as return air.
In connection with the avoidance of dust emissions, it is particularly advantageous if the returned air is sucked in again by a suction nozzle of the suction head. This preferably applies to all of the cleaned suction air; in other words, the entire volume of exhaust air is returned to the vacuum cleaner's air circuit. Since the formation of exhaust air is excluded in this way, the emission of dust with the exhaust air of the vacuum cleaner is also prevented, in particular the emission of fine dusts that can only be partially retained by filters. In this way, the simple handling, as with known vacuum cleaner models, is retained; at the same time, the vacuum cleaner according to the invention has a hygienic function that is not available in previous vacuum cleaners.
Due to the air return according to the invention, in contrast to all other previously known vacuum cleaner systems, the entire air volume flow of the vacuum cleaner is guided in a circular process. This applies in particular to the total volume flow of the air used to transport the suction material. This air used by the vacuum cleaner preferably circulates in an essentially closed circuit. There is no deliberate and intentional release of air from this circuit during the suction operation of the vacuum cleaner. The suction air provided with dirt particles is filtered and then fed as filtered return air to the suction head, where it is sucked in again as suction air by the suction nozzle together with the dirt particles to be picked up from the surface. This applies to both the suction air filtered for the first time and any additional suction air during operation of the vacuum cleaner. In this way, a circulatory system with interposed filters is provided, from which the dirt removed from the suction air can be periodically emptied from filters and disposed of. Since the circuit of the air volume flow of the air used to transport the suction material is essentially closed during the suction operation, the invention can also be characterized in that the suction material is guided in a closed system, the air loaded with the suction material first being conveyed, then filtered and then loaded again with suction material.
Compared to conventional devices, the vacuum cleaner according to the invention is also distinguished by the fact that both the operating noise and the energy requirement are reduced.
On the one hand, due to the exhaust air recirculation, the noise of the air expulsion is eliminated from the start, which significantly reduces the development of noise. In addition, no intake air contributes to the development of noise.
On the other hand, the return of exhaust air in the closed circuit leads to a significantly lower suction resistance, despite the double piping required for the return of air and the resulting increased flow resistance. Because of this, on the one hand, a motor with a lower drive power and, consequently, a lower noise emission can be used. On the other hand, the power consumption and thus the energy consumption are also reduced due to the lower motor power. This not only leads to a reduction in operating costs. In the case of battery-operated devices, this also extends the operating time per charge.
In addition, the motor can easily be encapsulated in such a closed system, whereby the emission of motor noise can be significantly reduced. In this context, measures for effective engine cooling, such as ribbing of the engine housing, have proven to be useful.
The method according to the invention according to a preferred embodiment is characterized in that returned air is sucked in by a suction nozzle of the suction head together with blown suction material. In other words, to improve the suction performance, in particular to improve the absorption of adhesive dirt particles, in a preferred embodiment of the invention the exhaust air is returned in such a way that the returned filtered air is used to blow and whirl up grit and dirt on the surface to be cleaned within the suction head, so that these particles can be sucked in more easily. This applies above all to adhesively adhering particles, such as electrostatically charged threads or pieces of film. In other words, the cleaned exhaust air is returned to the suction head as return air in such a way that it blows up particles lying on the floor. These particles - together with the unfiltered fine dust in the return air that would have been blown out of the device with conventional devices - are sucked in by the suction nozzle of the suction head. In addition to the dust emission-free suction, the vacuum cleaner according to the invention is therefore also characterized by a very efficient cleaning of the suctioned surface.
To return the filtered suction air to the suction head, the connection from the outlet of the filter to the suction head can be made in various ways. The use of concentrically nested pipes has proven to be particularly useful. With cylinder vacuum cleaners, both pipes must be connected to the inlets and outlets in the device with flexible hoses. Since the dimensional stability of the air ducts is not important for air transport, hoses or other, also non-dimensionally stable and / or flexible pipe and hose lines can always be used as air ducts instead of pipes, so that a pipe is therefore also to be understood as a hose is.
Due to the air returned to the suction head, no dirt is whirled up outside the suction head. This is ensured on the one hand by the way in which the return air is fed to the suction head, and on the other hand by the fact that suitable measures to seal the suction head prevent the return air fed to the suction head from leaving the interior of the suction head and thus the circulation of the air volume flow .
As usual, the suction head is designed in such a way that the surface to be cleaned within the suction head, which is subjected to negative pressure from the suction nozzle, is surrounded by a housing.
This separates the inside of the suction head from the environment. According to the invention, the suction head now has an inlet through which the to the Filtered exhaust air (return air) returned to the suction head is let into the inside of the suction head. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the suction head is equipped with a casing for this purpose. This jacket housing surrounds the known inner housing and thus the inner suction head. Through the space between the inner housing and the jacket housing, the return air is guided around the inside of the suction head and just above the floor inwards into the inside of the suction head. In order to achieve an air flow directed towards the surface to be cleaned and / or the suction nozzle, the jacket housing is advantageously equipped with air baffles or other suitable means for guiding the air flow. The return air is preferably blown into the interior of the suction head on all sides. With a suitable embodiment of the air flow guiding means, however, a channeled air flow guiding directed towards specific areas of the inside of the suction head is also conceivable. The filtered exhaust air that is returned and blown into the suction head in this way is strong enough to efficiently stir up soil dirt, which is then picked up by the suction nozzle with the suction air.
In order to prevent the return air introduced into the suction head from escaping to a large extent into the volume of space surrounding the suction head, but in particular to prevent the particles contained in the return air and the particles whirled up by the return air from escaping from the inside of the suction head to the outside In preferred embodiments of the invention, measures for sealing the suction head are provided. These measures can include sealing the suction head, in particular the suction head edge to the floor, as well as mechanical devices to prevent the return air from being blown out when the suction head is lifted from the floor, the latter in particular associated with short-circuiting the suction and return air.
Simple measures for sealing the suction head are, for example, additionally attached to the jacket housing, preferably circumferentially arranged on the outer edge, elastic lobes, tight brush arrangements, sealing rollers or the like, or a suitable combination thereof. All these elements are preferably designed in such a way that the escape of dirt particles from the inside of the suction head is effectively prevented without the sliding or rolling resistance of the suction head resting on the floor being significantly increased compared to conventional vacuum cleaner models. In the best case, this results in an essentially complete closure of the suction head from the surroundings.
