In the following, a chairlift is understood to be any circulating cable car to which hangers with at least one chair for one or more people are attached to an endless, continuously revolving hoisting rope at regular intervals.

There are around 1,131 ski areas in the Alps, and around 7,000 chairlifts are in operation around the world, transporting around 1.4 billion people annually. The lifts represent a very large branch of the economy. Due to climate change, ski tourism shrinks to shorter usage times and fewer guests in the winter season. The lifts are empty when the snow is getting shorter and especially in the transition seasons (spring, autumn) and at lower altitudes. Snow is only guaranteed from an altitude of 2000 m and in a few weeks. Artificial snow is harmful to the region's natural water balance. Skiing on slopes with little snow damages the soil and the flora. Alternative uses must be created in order to maintain tourism in the Alps and make it more environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Depending on the location, the lifts are also empty in summer, e.g. in regions that are not very attractive for hiking tourists or they are only used sporadically by hikers or mountain bikers, so that they are not fully utilized. Downhill runs are hardly used.

Well-known armchairs in chair lifts are designed as rigid metal frames and only allow an uncomfortable sitting position. In addition, they often have short backrests and small footrests. They are technically designed in such a way that their area of application is limited and only used by a certain group of users.

In the Offenlegungsschrift DE2750136A1 describes a device for transporting people (especially children) on a cable car, on which a height-adjustable backrest is provided. The backrest is guided here on guide elements and irreversibly connected to the chair.

In the Offenlegungsschrift DE102013103550A1 a chair lift seat is known with a partially pivotable backrest which can be pivoted between a rest position and a sitting position. By pivoting, however, it is not possible to bring the chair lift seat into a lying position.

From the disclosure document WO1997002878A1 a passenger carrier for a hanging ride is also known, in which the passenger carrier can be brought from a standing position into a lying position. With this carrier, the entire bed can be pivoted about an axis, but not individual parts of the passenger carrier. It is also not possible to use the passenger carrier or individual components to bring into a sitting position or even to switch between a sitting position and a lying position.

Presentation of the invention

The present invention is based on the object of creating an armchair by means of which the shrinking of mountain tourism can be effectively counteracted or by means of which a new environmentally friendly use of the existing lift systems in the mountains can be developed by being multifunctional and constructed in such a way that it is tiltable, modular and conveniently constructed, so that not only sitting but also lying is possible in order to effectively counteract the aforementioned problems.

According to the invention, the above object is achieved according to the preamble of claim 1 in conjunction with the characterizing features. Advantageous refinements and developments of the armchair according to the invention are specified in the dependent subclaims.

The armchair according to the invention allows easy conversion depending on the season and use due to its flexible modular structure and its tilting device, which allows various reclining positions in addition to sitting. Instead of the conventional armchair, it can be used all year round in various functions, or it is installed on the lift system instead of the conventional ski armchair when there is no snow, or when old armchairs are replaced.

The technical innovation of the present invention is based on the one hand on the modular structure and on the other hand on the tilting device, which together allow multiple functions. Furthermore, the application is also different: while the usual rigid, uncomfortable, hard armchair transports as many ski tourists as possible upwards in the shortest possible time, the present armchair fulfills a different function: when driving very slowly (up and down) or experiencing pre-programmed standing breaks the user a special deceleration, rest, relaxation in healthy air by floating and lingering in the lying position with a breathtaking view. The chairlift has thus evolved from a means of transport to a health and wellness instrument, outside and bookable by everyone (with different travel times of 10 or 20 minutes). The invention opens up the use of chair lifts for the wellness / health sector by creating a longer stay in lying / floating in calm mountain air. In addition to the pure air (especially for allergy sufferers / asthmatics) floating in a chairlift in a lying position a new and special quality of relaxation, detachment, an experience of "flying" in the clouds.
