Abstract

The present invention relates to a device for reversibly closing container openings according to the preamble of claim 1.

State of the art

In the following, containers are to be understood as meaning those containers which have an upper opening which comprise a collar on the opposite side which is directed inward in the horizontal plane and which forms a circumferential opening edge with an upper side and a lower side. In order to be able to close these containers airtight, the lid is held in a clamped manner at the edge of the opening, the lid is seated with a press fit.

In particular, tin cans for paints and varnishes are closed with such a folded lid. Opening this lid from the press-fit connection requires a tool with which the lid can be moved out of the can against the frictional resistance and also against the deformation resistance of the closing surface of the opening edge. A screwdriver is usually used to open it, which will damage the lid. When pouring out, it is not possible to dispense small amounts without dripping and without contaminating the rim or the outside of the can. Color is lost and the can sticks to the lid after it is closed again. As a result, the next time the can is opened, force has to be used, so that the lid is often damaged and no longer closes airtight, which means that the paint dries up.

Presentation of the invention

The present invention is based on the object of creating a device for the reversible closing of container openings which overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages.

According to the invention, the above object is achieved according to the preamble of claim 1 in conjunction with the characterizing features. Advantageous refinements and developments of the device according to the invention are specified in the dependent subclaims.

The device according to the invention initially comprises an upper cover part for the circumferential covering of the opening edge of the container opening, sealing the container. The cover part is designed in its circumference in such a way that it protrudes over the back of the opening edge, which is generally round.

According to the invention, a device of the type mentioned at the outset is characterized in that it comprises at least one further collar-shaped or projection-like clamping part, spaced from the upper cover part and running around the device, which is at least partially elastic. The clamping part is designed in such a way that it is designed for non-positive and latchable introduction into the container opening below the opening edge, the clamping part protruding beyond the opening edge of a container on its underside on the reverse side.

Implementation of the invention
