Description

The invention relates to a raised bed.

Structures for creating raised beds, hereinafter referred to as “raised beds”, offer numerous advantages. For example, a raised bed can be filled with material that is favorable for the respective plants to be cultivated, so that there is no dependence on the location of the soil. By filling in layers with various materials such as garden soil, leaves, compost, etc., heat from decomposition can be generated, which is beneficial for the development of the plants. You can also work on a raised bed while sitting, for example, which makes it potentially interesting for low-barrier work, for example for people with physical disabilities. Raised beds are also ideal for gardening in a therapeutic or educational context.

However, conventional raised beds have the disadvantage that, for example, a wheelchair user cannot get close enough to the work surface because a side wall of the raised bed can block access in the foot area. On the other hand, known raised beds are made, for example, from screwed wooden boards, which makes it difficult or impossible for children and people who are not skilled in the art or have physical disabilities to assemble and disassemble the raised bed.

The document DE 20 2007 018 151 U1 describes a raised bed that consists of wooden boards, which are milled at the top and bottom and glued waterproof with tongue and groove. This overlap results in a double wood thickness, which counteracts the internal pressure from the filling compound in accordance with the self-supporting stability.

The document AT 15 685 U1 relates to a raised bed boundary with a polygonal outline shape, the side walls of which consist of a plurality of individual parts made of concrete arranged one on top of the other. Side walls running at an angle to one another are held together in the end sections of the individual parts by means of positive-locking connections, with the individual concrete parts being in the form of slabs or planks and at least one cut-out or bevel being formed in each of the two front end sections of the individual parts, which is dimensioned in such a way that it at least one fingertip of a human hand can be reached under.

Against this background, it is an object of the present invention to specify an improved concept for a raised bed with fewer barriers.

This object is achieved by a raised bed according to the independent patent claim. Further embodiments and advantageous refinements are the subject matter of the dependent claims.

The improved concept is based on the idea of specifying a raised bed with longitudinal and transverse planks that can be plugged into one another, with two longitudinal planks arranged one above the other being laterally offset from one another, so that the corresponding longitudinal side of the raised bed can be driven under, in particular with a wheelchair.

According to the improved concept, a raised bed is specified which has two first longitudinal planks which are offset from one another along a first axis of the raised bed and are arranged at the same height. The raised bed also has two transverse planks, which are offset from one another along a second axis of the raised bed, which is perpendicular to the first axis, and are arranged at the same height and, in particular, higher than the first longitudinal planks. The transverse planks or the first longitudinal planks have recesses for the transverse planks and the first longitudinal planks to be plugged into one another. The raised bed has two second longitudinal planks, which are offset from one another along the first axis at the same height and in particular are arranged higher than the transverse planks, the transverse planks or the second longitudinal planks having further recesses for the transverse planks and the second longitudinal planks to be inserted into one another. One of the first longitudinal planks, in particular a front first longitudinal plank, which delimits an inner area of the raised bed on a user side, in particular the front side, of the raised bed is at a distance of at least 30 cm, preferably at least 33 cm, along the first axis from one of the second longitudinal planks arranged, in particular a front second longitudinal beam that delimits the interior on the user side.

A raised bed is understood here and in the following to mean a construction for creating a raised bed. This is in particular a construction with a specific total or working height, the raised bed being designed in such a way that an interior area of the raised bed is provided for filling with substrate material, with a height of the interior area that can be filled essentially being the height of the raised bed or the working height is equivalent to.

This is to be understood in particular as distinct from a table bed, in which a trough-like device is provided for filling with the substrate material, with a filling height in a range of 30 to 40 cm or less being provided. In contrast, on a high according to the understanding assumed here, a total filling height of at least 50 cm, preferably at least 70 cm, can be provided. An advantage of such a raised bed compared to a table bed is the possibility of generating rotting heat in the raised bed through coordinated filling, for example with layers of different substrate materials.

Here and in the following, “along” an axis can refer to a direction parallel to the corresponding axis.

The term “plank” or “longitudinal or transverse plank” can be understood here and in the following, for example, as a piece of sawn timber that has an approximately cuboid basic shape with a length, a width and a thickness, the length being greater than the thickness and the width, the thickness is at least 2 cm, preferably at least 4 cm, and the width is at least twice the thickness. Here and in the following, the thickness can also be referred to as thickness, and the width can also be referred to as height.

The term "plank" can also include corresponding components made of other materials, for example made of a plastic material, or combinations of materials.

The term "rectangular basic shape" also includes those shapes of the planks in which modifications of a cuboid shape are given at the respective ends, in particular longitudinal ends, or sides. For example, corners or edges have been rounded or cut at an angle.

In particular, the raised bed can have a rectangular or approximately rectangular base area, with the first and the second axis of the raised bed defining the base area of the raised bed.

The fact that the two first longitudinal planks are offset along the first axis can be understood, for example, in such a way that their position, which can be a position of the respective center of gravity, is identical or approximately identical along the second axis and the first longitudinal planks along the first axis have a distance to each other. In particular, an alignment of the first two longitudinal planks is identical, that is to say the longitudinal, transverse and normal axes of the two first longitudinal planks are parallel to one another. The longitudinal axis corresponds to an axis along the length, the transverse axis to an axis along the width and the normal axis to an axis along the thickness of the respective plank. The same applies to the transverse planks and the second longitudinal planks.

The first longitudinal planks each have approximately the same dimensions, for example, that is to say the same lengths, widths and thicknesses. In particular, the second longitudinal planks also have approximately the same dimensions, for example the same approximate dimensions as the first longitudinal planks.

Correspondingly, the two transverse planks in particular also have approximately the same dimensions, which, however, can generally differ from the dimensions of the first and second longitudinal planks.

The arrangement of the two first longitudinal planks at the same height can be understood, for example, in such a way that the position of the two first longitudinal planks is the same along a vertical axis which is perpendicular to both the first and the second axis of the raised bed. The arrangement of the transverse planks and the second longitudinal planks at the same height can be understood analogously, for example.

In the context of descriptions of the arrangement and positions of individual elements, in particular the planks, the raised bed and the raised bed itself, it is assumed without loss of generality that the raised bed is standing on a level surface, i.e. on a level floor. The first and the second axis then span a plane that is parallel to the ground or corresponds to the ground plane.

The first longitudinal planks are, for example, a rear and a front longitudinal plank, the front longitudinal plank being arranged on a user side of the raised bed and the rear longitudinal plank on an opposite side, in particular the longitudinal side, of the raised bed. The opposite side on which the rear longitudinal plank is located may also be a user side or a non-use side. “User side” can be understood in such a way that a work surface of the raised bed can be edited from it or the editing is intended. In particular, one, two, three or all four sides of the raised bed can be user sides. Similarly, one of the second longitudinal planks can be referred to as the rear second longitudinal plank and the other as the front second longitudinal plank.

The transverse planks can correspondingly be referred to as left and right transverse planks, with the left transverse plank being arranged on a left side of the raised bed and the right transverse plank on a right side of the raised bed. "Left" and "right" here refer to a provision appropriate use or structure of the raised bed and a view from the front of the raised bed.

In the following, the front and the rear can also be referred to as the long sides or as the front and rear long sides of the raised bed. However, this does not necessarily imply that an extension of the long sides along the second axis is greater than an extension of the left or right side along the first axis.

A sequence of the first and second longitudinal planks and the transverse planks along the vertical axis is in particular such that, viewed from the ground, the first longitudinal planks are arranged first, then the transverse planks and then the second longitudinal planks.

Further elements or components of the raised bed can be located between the ground and the first longitudinal planks, in particular further longitudinal or transverse planks.

The fact that the front first and front second longitudinal plank are arranged at a distance of at least 30 cm from one another results in an overhang on the user side of the raised bed such that a part of the raised bed protrudes along the vertical axis compared to a lower part of the raised bed. This projection allows a user of the raised bed to work in a seated position with his legs, in particular his knees and thighs, partially under the second front longitudinal plank, in particular under a corresponding part of the working surface of the raised bed. For example, a user sitting in a wheelchair can drive under the user's side due to the projection and thus reach the work surface comfortably even in a sitting position, so that a raised bed based on the improved concept represents a significant improvement in terms of accessibility.

By connecting the longitudinal and transverse planks to one another by plugging them into one another, there is no need to fasten the planks to one another using additional fastening means such as screws. This at least partially enables or facilitates assembly and disassembly of the raised bed for persons who are not technically skilled or have physical disabilities. This also contributes to lowering the barrier of the raised bed. In particular, the combination of workability in a sitting position and the simple assembly and disassembly together allow a significant lowering of the barrier. The raised bed can therefore be used in particular for educational or therapeutic purposes, in particular for people with physical disabilities or children.

The fact that the two transverse planks are arranged higher than the first longitudinal planks can be understood in particular such that a distance between the transverse planks and the ground along the vertical axis is greater than a corresponding distance between the first longitudinal planks and the ground. A corresponding distance between the second longitudinal planks, on the other hand, is in particular greater than the stated distance between the transverse planks.

According to at least one embodiment, the first front longitudinal plank has two recesses facing the transverse planks, the distance between the recesses corresponding to the distance between transverse planks along the second axis.

Dimensions or internal dimensions of the recesses are selected in particular in such a way that the transverse planks can be inserted, laid or clamped into the recesses. A form-fitting and/or non-positive connection of the front first longitudinal plank with the transverse planks is thus obtained simply by inserting the transverse planks into the recesses. In particular, the recesses along the second axis have an inside dimension that approximately corresponds to the thickness of the cross planks, so that the cross planks can be inserted or inserted, or is smaller than the thickness of the cross planks, so that the cross planks can be clamped into the recesses. In alternative embodiments, each of the transverse planks has a recess on the front side of the raised bed, into which the front first longitudinal plank can be inserted. The above statements apply analogously.

In at least one embodiment, the rear first longitudinal plank has two recesses for inserting the transverse planks. The comments on the cutouts on the front of the first front longitudinal plank apply analogously. In alternative embodiments, the transverse planks each have a recess on the rear side of the raised bed, into which the rear first longitudinal plank can be inserted.

The possibilities described for the plug-in or clamp connection of the transverse planks with the first longitudinal planks can be transferred analogously to clamp or plug-in connections between the transverse planks and the two second longitudinal planks.

In particular, in various embodiments, the second longitudinal planks each have two recesses for inserting the transverse planks. The other described embodiments can be applied analogously to these connections.

The plug-in connection also simplifies the assembly and disassembly of the raised bed achieved that additional connecting elements such as screws or fittings can be dispensed with, which can contribute to a cost-effective production of the raised bed.

According to at least one embodiment, respective lower edges, as edges facing the ground, of the second longitudinal planks are arranged at a distance from a ground of the raised bed of between 45 cm and 70 cm, preferably between 50 cm and 65 cm, for example 50 cm, 57 cm or 65cm.

The usual tolerances are included in the information on the distance between the second longitudinal plank and the subsoil of the raised bed. For example, tolerances of the order of +/- 1 cm can be taken into account.

The distance between the second longitudinal plank and the subsurface of the raised bed enables the user to sit at an appropriate height. Smaller distances of the order of 45 cm to 57 cm can be provided, for example, in raised beds for children or small people. With larger distances, taller people can work on the raised bed comfortably while sitting.

The upper limitation of the distance is particularly advantageous because if the distances are too great, the work surface would also be correspondingly high, which can make it difficult to work on the raised bed from a seated position.

According to at least one embodiment, another of the first longitudinal planks, in particular the rear first longitudinal plank, delimits the inner area of the raised bed on another user side of the raised bed, which is opposite the user side and is at a distance of at least 30 cm along the first axis from another of the second Longitudinal planks, in particular the rear second longitudinal plank, which delimits the interior on the other user side, arranged.

The raised bed can then be worked on, for example, from the front and the rear while sitting. As a result, more people can work on the raised bed at the same time. On the other hand, the flexibility in processing and accessing the raised bed is further increased.

According to at least one embodiment, another of the first longitudinal planks, in particular the rear first longitudinal plank, delimits the inner area of the raised bed on another user side of the raised bed, which is opposite the user side and is at a distance of at most 1 cm, preferably 0 cm, along the first axis to a further one of the second longitudinal planks, in particular the rear second longitudinal plank, which delimits the inner area on the further user side.

In such embodiments, the further user side, ie in particular the rear side, of the raised bed cannot be driven under. However, the space required on the back of the raised bed is significantly reduced. For this reason, the raised bed can, for example, be arranged with the back against a wall to save space.

According to at least one embodiment, the raised bed has two further transverse planks, which are offset along the second axis and are arranged at the same height as one another and which are in particular arranged lower than the first longitudinal planks. The further transverse planks or the first longitudinal planks have additional recesses for the further transverse planks and the first longitudinal planks to be plugged into one another.

The above statements on the connection options with regard to the transverse planks and the first and second longitudinal planks apply here analogously.

In various embodiments, the raised bed can contain further transverse planks and further longitudinal planks, which are arranged lower than the further transverse planks and/or higher than the second longitudinal planks along the vertical axis. In particular, these further transverse planks and longitudinal planks are also connected to one another by being plugged into one another, as described above.

According to at least one embodiment, the transverse planks and the further transverse planks are arranged at a distance of at least 1 cm each along the vertical axis of the raised bed.

The distance of at least 1 cm relates in particular to a distance along the vertical axis between the front first longitudinal plank and the front second longitudinal plank and a distance between the rear first longitudinal plank and the rear second longitudinal plank. Furthermore, this distance relates, for example, to a distance between the left transverse plank and one of the further transverse planks on the left and a distance between the right transverse plank and one of the further transverse planks to the right

The distance of at least 1 cm creates ventilation gaps that serve to ventilate or rear-ventilate the longitudinal and transverse planks and can prevent waterlogging. This can rot the planks, especially if they are made of wood or wood contain, prevent or reduce. The distance of at least 1 cm can be achieved in particular by appropriate dimensions of the recesses.

In various embodiments, the distance of at least 1 cm is in a range from 1 cm to 3 cm, in particular approximately 2 cm. A standard tolerance must be taken into account in each case. In particular, a tolerance of 0.5 cm, preferably 0.2 cm or less, must be taken into account.

According to at least one embodiment, the transverse planks and the first and second longitudinal planks are made of wood, for example Douglas fir wood.

In various embodiments, the transverse planks are unground and unplaned and/or the first longitudinal planks and/or the second longitudinal planks are unground and unplaned.

The unpolished and unplaned design of wooden planks can also be referred to as a rough-sawn design. The rough-sawn surface of the planks prevents snails from getting over the planks onto the work surface of the raised bed.

According to at least one embodiment, the raised bed contains a plurality of elements, the plurality of elements including the first and second longitudinal planks and the transverse planks. In particular, the multiplicity of elements contains at least six elements. The elements of the multiplicity of wooden elements are connected to one another exclusively by nesting adjacent or adjoining elements, in particular those arranged one above the other, of the multiplicity. According to at least one embodiment, the inner area of the raised bed can be filled, in particular with the substrate. The raised bed has an approximately rectangular basic shape in a plane which is spanned by a first axis x1 and a second axis x2.

The raised bed has a plurality of front longitudinal planks 1, 2, 6 on a front side of the raised bed and a plurality of rear longitudinal planks 1', 2', 6' on a rear side of the raised bed opposite the front side. The longitudinal and transverse planks of the raised bed enclose an inner area 10 of the raised bed or delimit it laterally. The inner area 10 can be filled with substrate for the raised bed, in particular completely.

In particular, the raised bed has two metal sheets 9, 9′, in particular stainless steel sheets, whose alignment around the second axis x2 is rotated by 90 degrees with respect to the first longitudinal planks 1, 1′ and the second longitudinal planks 2, 2′.
