Description
The invention relates to places to stay that are set up next to a stationary vehicle and are dismantled again for the purpose of changing location. Such a place to stay can be used, for example, for camping, leisure activities or as a mobile workplace. A mobile workplace can, for example, be a sales booth or a workplace of a craftsman, for example a farrier, who drives to his customers or to a market. The location information “next to a stationary vehicle” should be understood to include all positions around the vehicle, including in front of and behind it. The term “vehicle” includes vehicles of any kind, trailers, containers and other mobile machines and devices, for example mobile homes, panel vans, living or sales trailers, work machines, as well as living, office and work containers. Such places to stay should protect the people who are staying or working there as well as possible from the weather and at the same time must be easy and quick to assemble and dismantle.
The object of the present invention is to create an improved protective roof for such a resting place.
The object is achieved by an extendable protective roof with the features of claim 1 and with a vehicle on which such a protective roof is arranged. Advantageous further developments are the subject of the subclaims.
The protective roof is arranged on the vehicle, in particular on its roof, in such a way that it is pushed in when the vehicle is moving and can be pulled out when the vehicle is stationary, so that a roof surface of the protective roof protrudes over the vehicle and covers a place to stay next to the vehicle. For a change of location, the protective roof is pushed in and is then in particular above the roof surface of the vehicle, where it remains while driving. The protective roof according to the invention comprises two parallel guide rails, which can be mounted immovably on the roof of the vehicle, for example on a roof rack attachment of a panel van provided by the vehicle manufacturer. The protective roof further comprises a roof surface which can be displaced relative to the vehicle and a support roller for supporting the roof surface. At least four sets of rollers are provided, which can be moved along the guide rails. At least two sets of rollers are assigned to each of the guide rails. Each roller set can contain at least one guide roller which runs along a guide rail when the roller set is moved. The roof surface is connected to the roller sets. The roof surface can thus be displaced between an inserted state and an extended state relative to the guide rails via the roller sets. In particular, the sets of rollers are attached to the roof surface in such a way that their distances from one another remain unchanged when the roof surface is moved. When the roof surface is moved, however, the distances between the roller sets and the support roller change. The support roller for the roof surface extends below the roof surface between the two parallel guide rails and can be mounted on the vehicle roof. The support roller extends transversely to the guide rails and can be rotatably mounted via two bearing units arranged at their ends in order to support the roof surface, both during the extension process, in the extended state and during the insertion process. The bearing units of the support roller can also be immovably mounted on the roof of the vehicle or connected to the guide rails.
- • The protective roof can be erected and dismantled with very little effort, since only the roof surface has to be pulled out or pushed in. The roof surface is also held in the extended state by the support roller and the sets of rollers in engagement with the guide rails, so that no additional supports are required on the roof surface protruding beyond the vehicle.
- • The support roller provides good support for the roof surface over its entire width, so that the end of the roof surface protruding freely beyond the vehicle does not drop too much, so that there is still sufficient height for standing people to stay. Since the distance between the support roller and the roller sets is reduced when the roof surface is pulled out, a certain lowering of the roof surface when it is pulled out cannot be completely prevented due to its own weight. However, the support roller ensures that the roof surface rises again when it is pushed in and does not hit the vehicle or the edge of its roof.
- • The roof surface has only a low weight. The weight of the support roller does not put any strain on the extendable roof surface. The support roller touches the underside of the roof surface so that no relatively heavy guide rails are necessary on the roof surface to support it. The roller sets can be attached individually to the roof surface.
- • A very large extension path of more than 1.5 m is made possible for the roof area. The extension path can in particular be in the range of 2 m to 3 m and thus provides a relatively large protected area for the place to be set up next to the stationary vehicle.
- • The support roller in combination with one roller set per guide rail would be sufficient to absorb and support the weight of the roof surface. The second set of rollers on each guide rail is arranged between the first set of rollers and the support roller and ensures that the roof surface cannot be torn up by a gust of wind and folds down when it is extended. As a result, additional fastening, for example guy ropes, at the freely protruding end of the roof surface can be dispensed with in the extended state. This simplifies assembly and dismantling.
- • The protective roof is very easy to manufacture, especially as a modular system. The essential components, in particular the lengths of the guide rails and the support roller, can be adapted very easily to the required dimensions of the roof surface.
Each profile rail can have an upper and a lower track for guiding guide rollers contained in the roller sets. The guide rail can be designed as a profile rail, for example with an essentially C-shaped cross-sectional profile, and have running tracks which are curved transversely to the longitudinal direction of the guide rail and which simultaneously ensure lateral guidance of the guide rollers. The guide rollers can be freely rotatable on an axis in the roller set.
In a further embodiment of the invention it can be provided that all sets of rollers assigned to a guide rail are arranged on a carrier which is fastened to the roof surface and which extends parallel to the guide rail. Such a common carrier can in particular consist of a light angle profile, in particular of a light metal. As a result, the assembly of the roller sets can be simplified and their alignment to one another can be improved without the weight of the roof surface being increased too much. Each guide rail can be assigned a third set of rollers which, when the roof surface is pushed in, engages with the guide rail assigned to it, and is disengaged when the roof surface is extended. The third set of rollers can also be arranged on the carrier extending along the guide rail. The third set of rollers is mainly used to additionally secure the roof surface when it is pushed in, especially when the vehicle is moving. For this purpose, the third roller set can in particular be arranged on the opposite side of the support roller like the two other roller sets assigned to this guide rail.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the roof surface can consist of a self-supporting composite material, the underside of which rests on the support roller and touches its surface. Sandwich panels made of glass fiber reinforced honeycomb plastic are particularly suitable for this purpose. The thickness of the self-supporting composite material can be at most 50 mm, in particular about 30 mm. This makes it possible to achieve a self-supporting roof surface with a low dead weight. A fastening device for a protective tarpaulin can be arranged on at least one edge of the roof surface, which protrudes beyond the vehicle in the extended state. The protective tarpaulin can provide lateral weather protection for the resting place to be set up under the protective roof.
