Description
The invention relates to a vertical gas-pressure casting machine with a molten metal storage furnace for a molten metal supply, with a mold, in which mold at least one mold cavity is provided, with at least one riser channel, for filling the molten metal storage furnace with the at least one mold cavity connects the mold and which opens via a gate in the at least one mold cavity, and with a closing piston which is movable relative to the mold between an open position and a closing position closing the gate, wherein the molten metal storage furnace is connected via at least one gas line to a gas source ,
Metal casting machines are already known in various designs. In the previously known casting machines, a molten metal supply is stored in a heatable molten metal storage oven. This molten metal storage furnace is connected via a riser channel with a casting mold, which has at least one mold cavity for molding the desired casting. The riser opens via a gate in the mold cavity of the mold. In the region of its mold cavity, the casting mold has at least one vent opening which serves to vent the mold cavity when the molten metal flows into the mold cavity. The molten metal flows into the mold cavity by increasing the gas pressure in the molten metal storage furnace. After completion of the filling or casting process, the gas pressure in the molten metal storage furnace and thus the mold filling pressure is further increased to compensate for the occurring during cooling and solidification of the molten metal volume reduction. After the solidification progress has reached the gate, the gas pressure in the molten metal storage furnace and thus the mold filling pressure is reduced, so that a separation of the casting and the liquid metal column takes place in the riser. The liquid metal flows with entrainment or with the help of ambient air in the molten metal storage furnace back to the bath level in the molten metal storage furnace. The molten metal is exposed to intensive contact with the ambient air in each casting, in the forward movement in the riser, when filling the mold cavity and when returning to the molten metal storage furnace. The molten metal can be significantly contaminated by oxide formation and hydrogen uptake.

There is therefore a particular object to provide a vertical gas pressure casting machine of the type mentioned, which facilitates the production of high-quality castings, without a quality impairment due to unwanted hydrogen absorption and oxide formation during the casting process must be feared.
The achievement of this object is in the vertical gas pressure casting machine of the type mentioned in particular that the mold in addition to at least one mold cavity has at least one molten metal storage cavity, which is provided for receiving a pressurized in the closed position of the closing piston molten metal deposits and connected to the at least one mold cavity of the mold such that in the at least one molten metal reservoir to form a gas bubble resting on the molten metal deposit, a gas conduit connecting the at least one molten metal reservoir to a gas source opens and the volume of the stored in the at least one molten metal storage cavity and pressurized by the gas bubble molten metal depot is greater than the volume reduction of located in the at least one mold cavity of the mold molten metal during the solidification process.
The vertical gas-pressure casting machine according to the invention has a molten metal storage furnace in which the molten metal supply required for a plurality of castings is stored and kept in a liquid state. The molten metal storage furnace is connected via at least one riser channel with at least one mold cavity, which is formed in a mold. The mold cavity roughly reproduces the shape that the castings to be produced in the casting mold should have. The riser channel has a molten metal inlet that is below the level or surface of the molten metal reservoir located in the molten metal reservoir and opens out via a gate in the at least one mold cavity of the mold. In order to separate after filling of the at least one mold cavity located in the mold cavity and now cooling to the casting molten metal from the molten metal supply tank held molten metal supply, a closing piston is provided which relative to the mold between an open position and a closing the gate opening position is movable. In the closed position, the closing piston prevents the molten metal in the mold cavity from flowing out and at the same time separates this molten metal from the liquid-hot molten metal supply in the riser, so that the molten metal in the mold can cool more quickly and solidify into the casting. In order to press the molten metal in the molten metal storage furnace also by pressurizing the molten metal storage furnace in the at least one riser, the molten metal storage furnace is connected via at least one gas line to a gas source. The molten metal supply in the molten metal storage furnace is kept there under a protective atmosphere. In this case, with the aid of the gas source, such a gas pressure can be built up that the molten metal flows from the molten metal supply via the riser channel and through the sprue opening into the mold cavity of the casting mold. According to the invention, the casting mold has at least one molten metal reservoir, which is provided for receiving a molten metal deposit pressurized by a gas bubble in the closed position of the closing piston. This molten metal depot is connected to the at least one mold cavity of the casting mold in such a way that it at least partially compensates for the shrinkage in volume during the solidification process of the molten metal present in the mold cavity. By means of the gas pressure exerted on the molten metal present in the mold cavity by means of the gas bubble enclosed in the molten metal reservoir, a gas-pressure-assisted solidification of the molten metal takes place. Coordinated to the particular application, the corresponding high gas pressures applied during the solidification process considerably accelerate the transition of the melt from the liquidus temperature to the solidus temperature and allow a particularly fine-grained and ductile microstructure with the best possible physical properties. In this way, even in areas within the casting with large volume differences, despite the sometimes delayed or earlier solidification course, the equally high-pressure and all-grained high pressures achieve an equally fine-grained and ductile microstructure and high physical core values. By already in the at least one molten metal Vorratshöhlung initially compressed pre-pressure, the solidification process is initiated accelerated in the molten metal.
In order to produce an inert gas injection high pressure well above 1,000 bar gas pressure under appropriate conditions in the at least one molten metal Vorratshöhlung connected to the at least one mold cavity, the invention provides that in the at least one molten metal Vorratshöhlung to form a on the molten metal Depot lying gas bubble opens a gas line which connects the at least one molten metal Vorratshöhlung with a gas source. Since the volume of the molten metal deposit stored in the at least one molten pool reservoir cavity and pressurized by a gas bubble is greater than the volume reduction of the molten metal in the at least one mold cavity of the mold during the solidification process, the shrinkage associated with cooling the molten metal in the mold cavity can be reduced be compensated.
Here, a structurally particularly simple embodiment according to the invention provides that the molten metal depot in the at least one molten metal Vorratshöhlung pressurizing gas bubble is formed by a, the molten metal from the molten metal storage furnace via the at least one riser channel in the mold oppressive mold filling pressure. In this particularly simple embodiment according to the invention, the gas bubble enclosed in the molten metal reservoir cavity is generated by means of the mold filling pressure which, moreover, presses the molten metal from the molten metal reservoir into the casting mold via the at least one riser channel.
In order to be able to continuously increase the initial pressure generated by the gas bubble located in the molten metal storage cavity with starting solidification of molten metal in the mold cavity, a preferred embodiment according to the invention provides that the molten metal deposit in the at least one molten metal storage cavity druckbeaufschlagende gas bubble by means of a, over the molten metal from the molten metal storage furnace via the at least one riser channel in the mold mold pressure pushing out addition gas supply is formed in the mold.
In order to prevent the entry of air into the molten metal supply in the molten metal storage furnace and to prevent superficial oxidation of the molten metal, a particularly advantageous development according to the invention provides that the molten metal storage furnace and / or the at least one molten metal Reservoir cavity connected gas source is an inert gas source. The molten metal present in the molten metal storage furnace and / or in the at least one mold cavity of the casting mold is held there with an inert gas protective atmosphere which prevents superficial admission of air to the molten metal.
In order for the gas initially contained in the mold cavity to gradually flow out as the metal melt flows into the at least one cavity of the casting mold, a preferred embodiment according to the invention provides that the casting mold has at least one vent opening in the region of the at least one mold cavity the at least one vent is connected via a vent line with a vacuum or suction pump. In this further embodiment according to the invention, a negative pressure or a vacuum can be generated in the mold, which on the one hand favors the inflow of the molten metal into the mold cavity and on the other hand also prevents air from entering the molten metal present in the mold cavity. The at least one vent of the mold is for this purpose connected to a suction or vacuum pump. In each casting a filling and a return movement of the molten metal takes place in the riser. During the casting process, the inert gas flows in front of the metal and replaces existing ambient air in the mold cavity. This ensures that the liquid metal has no contact with the ambient air during the entire casting process. By inert gas flowing in front of the molten metal, flushing of the at least one mold cavity of the casting mold of ambient air is practically achieved. Since the required for each casting subset of molten metal is moved to one by the pressure of the molten metal storage furnace inert gas and the other by the vacuum in the mold cavity of the mold in the mold cavity, on the one hand in the molten metal storage furnace a comparatively low pressure and on the other in the mold cavity of the mold a correspondingly low negative pressure required to move the molten metal into the mold cavity of the mold. Since the molten metal can easily fill the entire mold cavity in the mold in this way as well, since the molten metal from the molten metal supply to the mold cavity in the molten metal is practically not exposed to the ambient air, a quality-reducing oxidation of the molten metal is effective counteracted. The castings produced in the vertical gas-pressure metal casting machine according to the invention are therefore characterized by their high casting quality. Since the mold filling is very fast and practically laminar under inert gas, a quality-reducing hydrogen absorption and avoided unwanted oxide formation in the casting.
To achieve the above object, a further proposal of own worthy of protection in the vertical gas pressure casting machine of the type mentioned additionally or instead, that the closing piston in its the gate opening closing portion has a cavity which has at least one, in the Cavity opening gas line is connected to an inert gas source. In this proposal according to the invention, the closing piston has a cavity or a depression in a partial area closing off the gate opening, which cavity is connected to an inert gas source via at least one gas line opening in the cavity. In this cavity, a pad made of inert gas can form when the metal melt coming from the molten metal supply flows, which gas cushion not only protects the inert gas outlet opening in the cavity of the gas line connected to the inert gas source from the molten metal, but also a thermal and physical decoupling favors between the closing piston and the molten metal located in the mold cavity. In each casting a filling and a return movement of the molten metal takes place in the riser. The return operation is also carried out in this proposal of the invention excluding the ambient air, exclusively by supplying inert gas, preferably nitrogen. The lowered metal mirror in the riser is filled to the upper edge of the gate of the mold cavity exclusively with inert gas. During the subsequent casting process, the inert gas flows in front of the molten metal and replaces the remaining ambient air in the mold cavity. This also ensures that the liquid metal has no contact with the ambient air during the entire casting process.
In order to additionally compensate for the volume shrinkage associated with the cooling of the metal melt located in the mold cavity, it may be advantageous if, in addition to the above-described, at least one molten metal storage cavity, the closing piston has two closing piston parts which are displaceable relative to one another, of which a first closing piston Part in the closed position abuts tightly against the peripheral edge region of the sprue, while a second closing piston part for pressurizing a molten metal depot during the solidification process in the mold cavity relative to the first locking piston part is displaceably guided, and if the molten metal deposit on the one hand via the gate with the Riser and on the other hand connected via at least one sprue with the at least one mold cavity of the mold.
As the inert gas, any suitable gas can be used which counteracts oxide formation of the molten metal.
So that the inert gas located in the cavity of the closing piston does not flow back through the inert gas outlet of the gas line connected to the gas source, but instead can form a gas cushion in the cavity of the closing piston, a non-return valve and in particular a non-return valve is interposed in the closing piston gas line.
As the inert gas, any suitable gas can be used which counteracts oxide formation of the molten metal. However, preference is given to an embodiment in which nitrogen is provided as the inert gas.
In order to be able to summarize in a controlled manner the gases escaping from the casting molds and to be able to remove them in neutralized form, it is advantageous if the at least one venting opening and the vacuum or suction pump are connected via a venting line in which venting line a gas cleaning or gas filter device is interposed.
Additionally or instead, such a gas cleaning or gas filter device may also be arranged on the pressure side of the vacuum or suction pump.
The vertical gas pressure metal casting machine according to the invention can advantageously be used with a reusable permanent mold or with a lost mold. However, preferred is an embodiment in which the mold is a reusable mold divisible into specified mold parts.
Further developments according to the invention will become apparent from the claims in conjunction with the drawings and the description.
