Description
The invention relates to a lighting device, in particular light, for motor vehicles (motor vehicle) according to the preamble of claim 1.
In a car, the lighting device contributes significantly to the stylistic appearance. There is an increasing need to design the lighting image in the operating state of the vehicle lights according to design technical aspects. In addition to the outer shape of the lighting device itself, the viewer is increasingly to be conveyed by the lighting image or by the overall visual impression in the operating state, an indication of origin on the manufacturer or on the vehicle type. In this case, however, there are restrictions, since for motor vehicle lighting devices different, in part legally stipulated requirements for the intensity profile of the emitted light distribution and the visibility of the lighting device itself must be met.
The invention has for its object to adapt the optical impression when viewing the lighting device, especially when looking through the lighting device through the light exit section, especially in the operating condition, to design requirements and to increase the freedom of design for the achievable lighting image. It should be possible in particular to comply with the legal requirements for the intensity profile of the emitted light distribution and the visibility of the lighting device.
This object is achieved by a motor vehicle lighting device having the features of claim 1. This is in particular an illumination device which comprises a luminaire function, in particular a motor vehicle luminaire, or else a luminous module with the features described below.
The illumination device comprises a light source and a light-transmitting lens through which the light distribution emitted by the illumination device can emerge, in particular such that the entire light of the illumination device emerges through this lens. The diffuser has an inner surface facing the light source and an outer surface facing away from it. To form the radiated light distribution, the lens is light-scattering. For this purpose, scattering structures may be arranged on the inner and / or the outer surface.
According to the invention, the inner surface has a first scattering structure with a multiplicity of light-refracting structural elements. The outer surface has a second scattering structure with also a plurality of refractive-acting structural elements. In this case, the first scattering structure is formed differently from the second scattering structure; in particular such that the two scattering structures do not overlap congruently when viewed through the diffusing screen, in particular with a viewing direction perpendicular to the inner surface and through the outer surface.
The first and the second scattering structure are in particular configured to visualize a moiré pattern when viewed from outside through the outer surface and the inner surface. This applies in particular in the operating state of the illumination device in transmitted light, wherein the emitted light distribution has light and dark areas. However, it is also conceivable that the moiré pattern is already visible from the outside with light from outside into the switched off illumination device when looking into the illumination device.
A moiré pattern typically arises when two non-identical patterns are not superimposed. The patterns may also be formed of identical structures, but rotated against each other and not superimposed congruent. The moiré pattern has characteristic structure lengths (e.g., period lengths between light and dark regions) that differ from the characteristic structure lengths of the superimposed patterns, and are typically significantly larger. Another characteristic feature of the moiré pattern is that the superposition of two patterns leads to a moiré pattern whose overall visual impression deviates considerably from the overall impression of the overlaid patterns as such. This utilizes the present invention for the stylistic design and design improvements of the automotive lighting device.
Moiré patterns are basically achieved by overlaying patterns with light and dark areas, or with transparent and opaque areas. In the present invention, the superposition of the refractive scattering structures on the two large surfaces of the particular plate-like diffuser results in a moiré pattern. The structural elements of Scattering structures need not be made opaque, opaque or colored, although this is possible for further embodiment. In this respect, the moiré effect can be achieved by the different refraction of light on the structural elements, even if they are translucent or transparent.
As a result, an illumination image with a characteristic intensity profile and with stylistic or design-technically desired features can be achieved. For example, when looking at the light (e.g., flashing light or taillight) of a vehicle, an indication of origin or type indication may be imparted, for example, in the manner of an enlightened symbol or pattern. The radiated light distribution as a whole is not significantly affected or weakened, so that the legal requirements for the intensity profile and the visibility can be met.
Since, on the one hand, the scattering structures on the inner surface and, on the other hand, the scattering structures on the outer surface are superimposed to generate the moiré pattern, the two structures are in particular spaced apart from one another. Therefore, with a suitable design of the scattering structures, a stylistically interesting dependence of the resulting moiré pattern on the viewing angle on the outer surface of the lens is obtained. This effect can be exploited in an advantageous manner in the design of the lighting device.
Interesting moire patterns can be achieved when the first scattering structure results from a geometrical similarity operation from the second scattering structure.
In particular, it is conceivable that the first scattering structure and the second scattering structure are caused by stretching, compression, shearing, rotation and / or translation, or by a concatenation of these operations. Preferably, the first scattering structure and / or the second scattering structure is periodically formed. In this respect, at least a first periodicity direction exists for the first scattering structure such that the structure elements of the first scattering structure have the same configuration at a distance of integer multiples of a first period length along the first periodicity direction. Accordingly, at least one second periodicity direction can be defined for the second scattering structure and the second scattering structure can be formed periodically with a second period length along this second periodicity direction.
In such scattering structures, a moiré pattern is produced, in particular, if the first period length is at least on a portion of the inner surface not equal to the second period length.
It is also conceivable that the first periodicity direction is not parallel to the second periodicity direction, ie. H. that the two periodicity directions are angled relative to each other. This too can lead to moiré patterns.
In principle, the first and the second scattering structure can be designed coordinated with one another such that a periodic moiré pattern is formed. For example, if the first and second period lengths are in the ratio of integers to each other, the above-mentioned configuration with unequal period lengths results in a moiré pattern having a pattern period corresponding to the least common multiple of the first and second period lengths. However, periodic moiré patterns can also occur with the same period with scattered scattered structures.
As explained, a moiré pattern may arise when the first and second period lengths are at least on a portion of the inner and outer surfaces in the ratio of integers to each other. Preferably, there is a broken rational relationship. However, it is also conceivable that the first and second period lengths are not in the ratio of whole numbers to one another, and in particular have no rational fractional ratio to each other, but have an irrational or real numerical ratio to one another. Then there is no integer least common multiple of the two period lengths. The resulting moiré pattern is usually not periodic in this case and can give a complex illumination image.
The structural elements of the first and / or the second scattering structure may be concave or convex with respect to the lens.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the structural elements of the first scattering structure are formed at least on a portion of the inner surface extending longitudinally along a first preferred direction extending. Additionally or alternatively, a corresponding configuration may be provided for the structural elements of the second scattering structure, which then extend longitudinally along a second preferred direction. The first and the second preferred direction can in particular run parallel to one another. However, an angled course is also conceivable. Then, for example, a moiré pattern can be achieved even with identically designed structural elements.
If the embodiment explained above applies to periodic scattering structures, then so the respective preferred direction of the first or second scattering structure is preferably perpendicular to the respective periodicity direction.
Another aspect is that the structural elements of the first and / or the second scattering structure in sections perpendicular to the respective first and second preferred direction, have a concave or convex with respect to the lens arching shape. It is also conceivable that the first scattering structure and / or the second scattering structure each comprise both concave and convex structural elements.
The concave and convex structural elements can lie next to one another, in particular within the respective scattering structure. However, at least a portion of the inner or outer surface may also be provided with concave structural elements, and at least another portion of the respective surface may be provided with convex structural elements.
Due to the strength of the concave or convex curvature of the respective structural elements, the area illuminated by the radiated light distribution, in particular its width, can be influenced perpendicular to the respective preferred direction. Thus, the requirements described at the beginning of the intensity profile of the light distribution and the visibility of the lamp can be met. Also by an appropriate choice of preferred directions in the lighting device, the radiated light distribution can be adapted to the requirements.
In a section perpendicular to the respective preferred direction, along which extend the elongated structural elements, the structural elements may be configured, for example, circular, parabolic, elliptical or polygonal. In particular, the scattering elements can each be designed as cylindrical scattering optics, which extend along the respective (first or second) preferred direction.
The above-described configurations for the respective scattering structures need not be uniform on the inner and outer surfaces, respectively. In principle, it is conceivable that the respective structural elements of the first scattering structure are at least on one portion of the inner surface and / or the respective structural elements of the second scattering structure at least on a portion of the outer surface each formed identical to each other. In order to achieve more complex moiré patterns, however, the respective scattering structures can also have differently configured areas. In this respect, it may be advantageous if e.g. the first scattering structure has a plurality of mutually coherent structural sections, wherein the structural elements within a structural section are each formed identically to one another, but the structural elements of at least two different structural sections of the first stray structure are different from one another. A corresponding embodiment may alternatively or additionally be provided for the second scattering structure.
The said structural sections are formed, for example, as contiguous surface areas of the inner surface (for the first scattering structure) and the outer surface (for the second scattering structure), respectively. In particular, the various structural sections of the respective scattering structure regularly adjoin one another. For example, a checkered arrangement of square or rectangular structural sections is conceivable.
The structural elements within a respective structural section may each be formed according to the embodiments described above. For example, the structure elements within a structure section may be formed periodically with a period length determined in each case for the structure section and along a periodicity direction defined for the respective structure section. This period length and / or periodicity direction may be different for different structural sections of the same scattering structure. It is also conceivable that the structural elements of different structural sections within the same scattering structure (on the same surface) apart by compression, extension, shear, rotation and / or translation, and combination of these operations, apart. The structural elements may extend longitudinally within a respective structural section along a preferred direction defined for this structural section, whereby here too the preferred directions of different structural sections of the same scattering structure may be different.
In principle, the structural elements of the scattering structures are preferably formed of a refractive material, for example a transparent plastic (for example PMMA, PC) or glass. This preferably also applies to the entire lens. In particular, lens and structural elements of the scattering structures are integrally formed with each other.
The lens may be formed as a light disc or cover disc terminating the illumination device to the outside. In particular, the illumination device has a housing, in which the light source and further devices of the illumination device are accommodated, and which has a light exit opening has, which is covered by the lens. However, it is also conceivable that the illumination device is not covered by the lens, but by a subsequent in the beam path, structureless, especially clear or colorless cover and the lens is also disposed in the housing.
For a further embodiment, the illumination device can have a light collection optics which is set up to direct the light emitted by the light source as completely as possible onto the inner surface of the lens. This can for example be done with a bulging around the light source reflector, which is open in the direction of the lens.
The diffuser is basically plate-like. It may be substantially planar, or at least partially curved. The boundary of the lens in the lateral directions can basically have any shape, for example circular, polygonal, but also a free form. Here, the lighting device can be adapted to the specifications in the development or in the design of the lighting device, or be fitted in the available space.
