Durch die offene Bauart beziehungsweise Struktur des Kokillengussbauteils kann der zur Verfügung stehende Bauraum hinsichtlich der Darstellung eines vorteilhaften Unfall-, Steifigkeits- und Geräuschverhaltens (NVH-Verhalten – NVH – Noise Vibration Harshness) insbesondere im Vergleich zu geschlossenen Gussbauteilen deutlich besser genutzt werden.In order to provide a side member in which only a very small weight and a small space requirement and a simple connection of chassis parts can be realized, it is inventively provided that the side member is formed as an open profile. Dies bedeutet, dass der Längsträger auch mit einem nur sehr geringen Materialaufwand und somit besonders kostengünstig herstellbar ist. Weiterhin lässt sich bei dem offenen Profil auch eine sehr hohe Maßhaltigkeit ohne zeit- und kostenintensive Nachbearbeitungen realisieren. Im Vergleich zum Hohlgießen unter Verwendung von Sandkernen können auch geringe Taktzeiten und bessere Wanddickentoleranzen realisiert werden.
