Durch die Verwendung eines Verkleidungsmaterials aus einem Metallschaum oder Polymerschaum werden die akustischen Absorptionseigenschaften des Radlaufs erheblich verbessert. Die Verwendung eines Polymerschaums oder Metallschaums bewirkt eine erhöhte Steifigkeit der Radlauf-Verkleidung, wodurch deren erste Eigenfrequenz steifigkeitsbedingt auf einen Wert von mehr als 1 kHz erhöht werden kann. Da fahrbahn- oder/und reifenbedingte Schwingungen, die auf den Radlauf wirken, üblicherweise eine Frequenz von weniger als 500 Hz aufweisen, wird durch eine Erhöhung der Eigenfrequenz die Einkopplung derartiger Schwingungen in den Radlauf weitgehend oder sogar vollständig vermieden, so dass die Radlauf-Verkleidung des erfindungsgemäßen Radlaufs als akustischer Breitband-Schallabsorber wirken kann. Mittels des erfindungsgemäßen Radlaufs kann also eine stark verbesserte Luftschalldämpfung im Radlauf erzielt werden, da der erfindungsgemäße Radlauf-Verkleidung als Helmholtz-Resonator wirkt, der besonders gute akustische Absorptionseigenschaften aufweist.The invention is based on the general idea to provide a wheel arch with a Radlauf-panel, which at least partially comprises a cladding material of a metal foam or polymer foam.
