Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß bei einem Magnetventil mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 1 dadurch gelöst, dass die Dämpfungseinrichtung eine Dämpfungshülse umfasst, die einen Dämpfungsraum begrenzt, dass der Dämpfungsraum von dem Magnetanker begrenzt ist, wobei das Volumen des Dämpfungsraums in einer Schließstellung des Magnetankers ein Minimum und in einer Öffnungsstellung ein Maximum aufweist, und dass die Dämpfungshülse in Richtung der Längsachse beweglich angeordnet und mittels eines Federelements in Richtung einer Dichtfläche kraftbeaufschlagt ist. Eine derartige Ausbildung der Dämpfungseinrichtung mit einer federkraftbeaufschlagten Dämpfungshülse hat den Vorteil, dass einerseits eine relativ geringe Öffnungsgeschwindigkeit beim Abheben des Schließglieds von seinem Ventilsitz, und andererseits eine relativ schnelle Schließbewegung des Schließglieds bei der Bewegung in Richtung des Ventilsitzes erzielbar ist, wobei gleichzeitig eine starke Reduzierung der Anzahl der Schließpreller ermöglicht wird. Es werden somit unterschiedliche Dämpfungseigenschaften der Dämpfungseinrichtung in Abhängigkeit von der Bewegungsrichtung des Magnetankers erzielt.
