Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling a fuel injection system, in particular a common rail injection system, with the features of the preamble of claim 1 and with the features of the preamble of claim 3. Furthermore, the invention relates to a fuel injection system with such Contraption.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
Depending on the layout of the low-pressure circuit of a fuel injection system, a pump inlet pressure> 4.5 bar can be achieved. In the pump return then there is an overpressure. When using new low-pressure layouts, however, the return flow is conveyed almost without pressure into the return line. As a result, an inlet pressure> 4.5 bar is no longer safely achieved. There is thus the risk that the high-pressure pump is no longer supplied with sufficient lubricating and / or cooling amount.
The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a method and apparatus for controlling a fuel injection system with an electric fuel pump as a prefeed pump, by which a sufficient lubrication and / or cooling of the high-pressure pump is ensured. In particular, a feed pressure> 4.5 bar should be achieved. Furthermore, a fuel injection system is to be specified with a corresponding device.
The object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 1 and a device having the features of claim 3. Advantageous developments are specified in the respective subclaims. In addition, a fuel injection system with the features of claim 7 is proposed.
Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
In the method according to the invention for controlling a fuel injection system, the hydraulic pressure in the supply line is set via the opening pressure of an overflow valve which hydraulically connects the supply line to a return line, wherein the opening pressure of the overflow valve is selected to be 3.4 bar.
An opening pressure ≥ 3.4 bar corresponds to an opening pressure raised in comparison with the prior art. The opening pressure of a known from the prior art relief valve is, for example, 3.3 bar. This means that at a flow rate of 50 l / h, the overflow valve opens at about 3.1 bar. By raising the opening pressure of the overflow valve, the pressure in the supply line increases. This in turn means that the fuel delivery flow of the high pressure pump is supplied at a higher pressure, whereby the filling of the high pressure pump, as well as their lubrication and / or cooling is improved. In addition, a higher inlet pressure reduces the risk of gas bubble formation in the fuel, that is, the risk of cavitation.
By opening the overflow valve only at a pressure ≥ 3.4 bar, the inlet pressure can be raised so that a pump inlet pressure> 4.5 bar secured in continuous operation can be safely reached. The inventive method has the advantage that no costly changes to the components of the low-pressure circuit of a fuel injection system are required. Only the set point or the opening pressure of the overflow valve must be adjusted accordingly.
Preferably, an opening pressure of the overflow valve is selected, which is between 3.5 and 7 bar, preferably between 3.5 and 5 bar and further preferably between 3.7 and 4 bar.
The device for controlling a fuel injection system further proposed for solving the problem set out above comprises an overflow valve for hydraulically connecting a supply line to a return line, the opening pressure of the overflow valve being between 3.5 and 7 bar, preferably between 3.5 and 5 bar preferably between 3.7 and 4 bar. As a result, in turn, an inlet pressure> 4.5 bar can be reached safely and ensures adequate lubrication and / or cooling of the high-pressure pump.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the overflow valve is inserted into a housing part of the high pressure pump and at least a part of the return line designed as a bore in the housing part. These measures contribute to a simple and compact design of the low-pressure circuit, since the number of components is reduced.
Furthermore, it is proposed that a further partial stream of the fuel delivery flow pass through a shaft bearing and a housing bore adjoining the corrugated bearing into the return line. As a result, in particular a sufficient lubrication and / or cooling of the shaft bearings of the high pressure pump is ensured, whereby the robustness of the high pressure pump continues to increase.
All partial flows for lubrication and / or cooling of the high-pressure pump are preferably passed together via the return line back into the fuel tank.
According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the high-pressure pump comprises a metering unit for volume control. The metering unit is preferably integrated as the overflow valve in the housing part of the high-pressure pump. Thus, a particularly space-saving arrangement is created. The metering unit ensures precise volume control because the electric fuel pump is subject to tolerances.
Furthermore, a fuel injection system for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine with a device according to the invention is claimed. The fuel injection system further comprises a high-pressure accumulator and at least one fuel injection valve connected to the high-pressure accumulator. Such a fuel injection system allows an insured in continuous operation inlet pressure> 4.5 bar in the low pressure circuit. Furthermore, due to the pressure increase in the low-pressure circuit, it has improved lubrication and / or cooling of the high-pressure pump.
Diese zeigen:A preferred embodiment of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. These show:
