Abstract

The method involves detecting collision of a person (2) to a vehicle (1) e.g. car, by a detection unit i.e. pedestrian safety device such as active engine bonnet (1.1) and airbag, arranged in a front area of the vehicle. The pedestrian safety device is released by detection of the collision. An outer mirror (1.3) arranged at a side of the vehicle is automatically retracted by a servo motor during detection of the collision. A detected signal is supplied to a control unit which produces a control signal. The control signal is sent to the servo motor of the outer mirror.
