Ausgangspunkt der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur wahlweisen Herstellung einer ersten bzw. einer zweiten Variante eines mehrschichtigen Kunststoffbauteils, wie z. B. einer Instrumententafelabdeckung für den Fahrgastraum eines Fahrzeugs. Beide Varianten weisen jeweils ein Trägerteil, eine ”Dekorschicht” und eine zwischen dem Trägerteil und der Dekorschicht befindliche Schaumschicht auf. Der Begriff ”Dekorschicht” ist so zu verstehen, dass es sich um einzige Schicht oder um eine aus mehreren Teilschichten aufgebaute Dekorschicht handeln kann.
