Description
The present invention relates to a filter device for filtering a fluid with at least one filter element arranged in a filter housing and a coalescer for separating water contained in the fluid and a collecting container for collecting this separated water according to the preamble of claim 1.
Generic filter devices are well known in particular in the field of industrial filters but also in the field of motor vehicle construction and are used for the separation of contaminants and water, which should be avoided in particular caused by the water corrosion processes. Usually, the water collection container is formed by a bottom portion of a filter housing pot, wherein the water collected therein is drained at regular intervals. Discharging the separated water, however, always entails the risk that parts of the fluid to be filtered, for example hydrocarbons, are discharged into the environment with the drained water and thereby contaminate it. An alternative to water separation is also achieved by filter materials capable of storing water. However, this generally creates the problem that the flow and thus the filter performance of this filter material decreases with increasing stored water content, so that replacement of the filter material must be done comparatively often for a fluid to be cleaned with high water content, which of course a not to be underestimated maintenance and Cost means.
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a filter device of the generic type, an improved or at least one alternative embodiment, which is characterized in particular by a high environmental impact and a prolonged life.
This problem is solved according to the invention by the subject matter of independent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.
The present invention is based on the general idea, in a filter device for filtering a water-containing fluid, to provide a water collecting container which is formed separately from a filter housing of the filter device and at the same time is connected or connectable to a filter element arranged in the filter housing. The filter device according to the invention is used for filtering a fluid, for example for filtering hydraulic fluid, (gear) lubricating oil or fuel, which usually has low water content. A filter element, for example a ring filter element, is arranged in the filter housing of the filter device, as is a coalescer for separating water contained in the fluid. By the idea according to the invention, according to which the water collecting container is formed separately from the filter housing and connected or connectable to the filter element, a filter device with a high environmental compatibility and a simultaneously long service life can be created. The high environmental compatibility is due to the fact that, in contrast to conventional filter devices in which the separated water from the fluid collected in a water reservoir and then discharged from this into the environment, contamination of the environment can be safely excluded, since the separated water collected in the separately formed to the filter housing water reservoir and just not discharged into the environment. The extended life, however, can be achieved by the fact that in the filter device according to the invention compared to filter devices with a filter material in which water is deposited, a water retention does not occur, but only the removal of water contained in the fluid in the water collection tank by the Coaleszer, so that the filter effect of the filter element arranged in the filter element is not impaired by embedded water fractions. Due to the fact that the water collection container according to the invention is connected to the filter element or connectable, a comparatively simple maintenance of the filter device can be achieved because the water collection simply removed when replacing the filter element with and either disposed of together with the spent filter element or emptied and is connected to a new filter element. In particular, in the latter variant, the environmental compatibility of the filter device according to the invention can be further increased, since the water collection container can be connected almost as often with a new filter element and re-installed after emptying into the filter device.
In an advantageous development of the solution according to the invention, a superabsorber and / or a molecular sieve is arranged in the water collecting container. Superabsorbents are usually called plastics, which are able to absorb many times their own weight, up to 1,000 times more liquids (mostly water). Superabsorbers are usually used as white, coarse-grained powder with a particle size of 100 to 1000 μm. Chemically, superabsorbers are usually a copolymer of acrylic acid (propenoic acid and sodium acrylate), where the ratio of the two monomers can vary. By contrast, molecular sieves are natural or synthetic zeolites which have a high adsorption capacity for gases, vapors and solutes with specific molecular sizes. By a suitable choice of the molecular sieve, it is possible to separate molecules of different sizes.
Suitably, the separately formed water collection container is detachably connected to the filter element, in particular clipped or screwed. This offers the great advantage that, when replacing the filter element of the water collection container can be taken along with this from the filter housing of the filter device and then easily solved by the filter element in which the clip connections are opened. Subsequently, an emptying of the water collection container and a renewed attachment to a new filter element can take place. Due to the detachable connection between the water collection container and the filter element of the water collection container can be used almost any number of times, with a capacity of the water collection container is usually chosen so large that all incurred up to the replacement of the filter element water can be collected and collected therein.
