Das Verdeck wird von einem verlagerbaren Verdeckgestänge getragen, das heckseitig in einem Innenbereich der Fahrzeugkarosserie angelenkt ist und bei geschlossenem Verdeck eine Verdeckgestängeöffnung in der Fahrzeugkarosserie durchsetzt. Die Verdeckgestängeöffnung ist abschnittsweise von der Fahrzeugkarosserie und einem den Verdeckkasten verschließenden Verdeckkastendeckel begrenzt. Um die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung in geöffneter Stellung des Verdecks zu verschließen, ist an dem Verdeckkastendeckel im Bereich der Gestängeaustrittsöffnungen jeweils eine Abdeckklappe vorgesehen, die die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung bei geöffnetem Verdeck überdeckt. In der geschlossenen Stellung des Verdecks, in der das Verdeckgestänge die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung durchsetzt, ist die Abdeckklappe aufgeschwenkt und gibt die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung frei. Die Abdeckklappen sind jeweils gelenkig an dem Verdeckkastendeckel befestigt und mittels zweier Vorspannfedern in die die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung freigebende Freigabeposition vorgespannt. Mittels einer Seilzugvorrichtung, die ein auf eine Seiltrommel aufwickelbares, an der Abdeckklappe angreifendes Seil aufweist, kann die Abdeckklappe entgegen der Vorspannung in die die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung überdeckende Schließposition verschwenkt werden. Koaxial zu der Seiltrommel ist an der Fahrzeugkarosserie ein Sicherungshaken drehbar angelenkt und mit der Seiltrommel über eine als Schenkelfeder ausgebildete Koppelfeder drehgekoppelt. Eine Drehbewegung des Sicherungshakens ist mittels einer Antriebsvorrichtung antreibbar. In der geöffneten Stellung des Verdecks ist der Sicherungshaken mittels der Antriebsvorrichtung in einer ersten Drehposition gehalten. Die über die Koppelfeder an den Sicherungshaken gekoppelte Seiltrommel ist in einer der ersten Drehposition entsprechenden Position gehalten, in der das Seil aufgewickelt ist und die Abdeckklappe die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung überdeckt. Im Zuge einer Schließbewegung des Verdecks wird zunächst der Sicherungshaken mittels der Antriebsvorrichtung in eine zweite Drehposition verdreht, womit zeitgleich die über die Koppelfeder gekoppelte Seiltrommel verdreht und das Seil abgewickelt wird. Die Abdeckklappe wird dabei durch die Vorspannung der Vorspannfedern aufgeschwenkt, so dass die Gestängeaustrittsöffnung freigegeben ist. Die Seiltrommel und der Sicherungshaken verbleiben in dieser Position, bis die geschlossene Stellung des Verdecks erreicht ist. In der geschlossenen Stellung des Verdecks greift ein hinteres, C-Säulen umfassendes Dachteil des Verdecks in die Seiltrommel ein, so dass ein Verdrehen der Seiltrommel nicht mehr möglich ist. Der Sicherungshaken wird nun mittels der Antriebsvorrichtung in die erste Drehposition zurückgedreht, wobei der Sicherungshaken in das hintere Dachteil eingreift und dieses gegen ungewollte Verlagerungen sichert. Getrennte Antriebsvorrichtungen für den Sicherungshaken einerseits und die Abdeckklappe andererseits sind somit nicht notwendig. Nachteilig ist jedoch, dass die Vorrichtung kompliziert aufgebaut und insbesondere durch die Drehkopplung von Seiltrommel und Sicherungshaken gegenüber Toleranzen in der Positionierung der Seiltrommel und des hinteren Dachteils empfindlich ist, was insgesamt zu einer erhöhten Störanfälligkeit führt. Die im Verdeckkasten angeordnete Antriebsvorrichtung und die aufwendige Kopplung zwischen Seiltrommel, Sicherungshaken und Antriebsvorrichtung benötigen nachteilig einen relativ großen Einbauraum, wodurch der knapp bemessene Platz zum Verschwenken und Aufbewahren des Verdeckgestänges im Verdeckkasten weiter reduziert wird.
