Description

A disadvantage of this solution, however, is that to maintain the flow connection upright a separate part, namely the radially rigid gas duct is required and this is subject to the risk of destruction under high load and also increases the cost.

The object of the invention is therefore to provide a low-cost inflatable seat belt and a method for inflating an inflatable safety belt, which safely prevents the flow connection between the shoulder belt and the lap belt is interrupted in the accident and both the lap belt and the shoulder belt with a common gas generator can be inflated.
To solve the problem is proposed according to
Furthermore, this ensures that the deployment of the inflatable safety belt can not be disturbed by an increase in the belt force associated with the activation of the belt tensioner. The remaining belt slack of the inflated seat belt system is then pulled out by the belt tensioner, resulting in an overall optimal early coupling of the occupant to the vehicle deceleration with a minimum occupant load.
It has been found that the inflatable seat belt and the belt tensioner cooperate ideally when the activation of the belt tensioner takes place within a period of 5-15 ms after the ignition of the gas generator. Thus, the seat belt at the time of activation of the belt tensioner is already deployed so far that the deployment and the belt tensioner no longer work against each other and the seat belt with a maximum surface against the occupant.
Furthermore, it is proposed that the period between the ignition of the gas generator and the activation of the belt tensioner is dependent on the momentum of the accident.
A further preferred embodiment of the invention is that the filling of the inflatable seat belt are arranged by the gas generator and the belt tensioner at different ends of the seat belt. Thus, both the lap belt and the shoulder belt are ideally tightened by the unfolding of the seat belt and the subsequent tightening. Further, the inflation of the inflatable seat belt is initially completely from one end, while subsequently the tightening of the inflated seat belt takes place from the other side. Thus, both processes interfere as little as possible and can contribute their full contribution to the optimal restraint of the occupant with the least possible occupant exposure. Also, in the event that the inflated seat belt does not extend entirely over the length of the shoulder belt or the lap belt, the invention offers the advantage that the belt tensioner pulls the already unfolded seat belt on the occupant in the direction of the missing coverage, so that after that Belt tightening as long as possible on unfolded seat belt against the occupant.
Ideally, the belt tensioner on the shoulder belt and the inflator on the lap belt associated end of the seat belt is arranged so that the inflator first unfolds the inflatable safety belt on the lap belt so the shorter part of the seat belt system, and then the shoulder belt while flowing through the inflatable safety belt in Deflected area of the deflection in the belt tongue. Because the end of the lap belt is closest to the occupant, this minimizes the unfastened portion of the inflatable seat belt that is not applied to the occupant and maximizes the deployed length of the inflatable seat belt against the occupant.
In den Figuren ist im Einzelnen dargestellt:The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to a preferred embodiment. The figures show in detail:
