Description
The invention relates to a stone trap in the form of a surgical instrument for the endoscopic removal of gall, gland, kidney and bladder stones or other concretions from the human body.
A major problem with such stone traps is the structural design of the so-called "tip" of the basket. This is the distal area of the basket, in which the culmination arcs of all wire loops cross in the virtual axis of the basket and contact each other there and form a "crossing contact area" common to all wire loops, and in the case of the generic stone trap basket, in each case regardless of whether the Interior (= catching space) of the stone trap basket is configured from two, four or more wire loops, and also regardless of whether the wire courses of the wire loops are stretched in a straight line in the form of meridians and / or in a wave shape or in a spiral shape o .
However, surgical practice complains that even the proposed small-format knotting of the wire loops in their crossing contact area is not "pointless" enough, so that such a stone trap basket cannot be used optimally enough on flat, almost even vessel walls.

The object of the present invention is to develop an optimally "pointless" stone trap of the generic type, which can also be easily pulled into the distal end of the catheter tube and just as easily pushed out of the catheter tube again.
The solution according to the invention is characterized in that the culmination arcs of the wire loops each have a flattened cross section in their crossing contact areas, the longer cross-sectional axis of which corresponds to the bending axis of the respective culmination arc when the wire loops are pulled in or pushed out of the catheter tube or runs parallel to this bending axis.
The flattened single wire cross-section of the wire loops should preferably have the same cross-sectional area as the non-flattened, i. H. round cross-section of the round wire used to make the wire loops. The strength properties (= tearing strength) of the wire loops remain unrestricted, but their superelastic bending behavior is significantly improved in terms of ever smaller bending radii in the crossing contact area of the wire loops, so that stone trapping baskets according to the invention can be pulled completely into the distal end of the catheter tube without any problems can, even if the surgical practice for the removal of stones or other concretions from the human body by means of and through the working channel of an endoscope requires ever smaller diameter of the catheter tube.
The flattening of the round wires of the wire loops in their crossing contact area has three further advantages.
On the one hand, the wire of the wire loops running out of the crossing contact area is much better guided against lateral deflection (in the direction of the circumference of the collecting basket around its virtual basket axis), since the flattened cross-section of the wire opposes lateral deflection with a significantly greater bending resistance moment than a round cross-section of the wire.
On the other hand, the flattening of the round wires in the crossing contact areas enlarges the contact surfaces of the wires lying against one another very considerably, so that it is sufficient to fix the wire loops in this area against displacement relative to one another with an elastically hardening contact adhesive alone.
From this and in connection with the flattened construction height of the crossing contact area of the wire loops, the third essential advantage of the stone trap according to the invention results, namely that it can be produced "topless" in the most optimal way.
As an additional and further improvement of stone trapping baskets according to the preamble of
On the one hand, the twisting of the sections of the extended wire ends close to the cup offers a basic locking close to the cup of the individual wire ends of the wire loops that open into the distal end of the catheter tube. This basic locking of the wire loops results in an improved and therefore more stable configuration of the interior (collection space) of the stone collection basket, which is retained even after repeated pulling in and out processes of the stone collection basket in and out of the catheter tube.
On the other hand, the twisting of the wire ends guided through the catheter tube up to its operating end (= operating handle) also enables the transfer of a handle rotary movement to the stone trap, which can be carried out very precisely, so that the surgeon can determine the exact rotary position of the stone trap relatively can be adjusted very precisely to the stone to be removed or relative to the other calculus to be removed.
And finally, the twisting of the wire ends passed through the catheter tube also reduces the frictional forces between the wire ends and the inner wall of the tube, since the twisted wire ends in the catheter tube only lie against the inner wall of the catheter tube with a narrow spiral line.
