Abstract
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, durch optimale Ausnutzung des zur Verfügung stehenden, optischen Signals ein besseres Signal-Rauschverhalten und damit eine höhere Güte des optischen Signals und des Wirkungsgrades zu erzielen. DOLLAR A Erfindungsgemäß gelingt die Lösung der Aufgabe dadurch, dass auf einem Substrat eine monolitisch oder hybrid hergestellte planare Anordnung von Strahlungs- und Empfängerbaugruppen gemeinsam mit einem optischen Funktionselement angeordnet ist, wobei das optische Funktionselement Bereiche zur Formung einer ausgesendeten inkohärenten optischen Strahlung aufweist. DOLLAR A Die Erfindung betrifft ein mikrooptisches Bauelement, bei dem mikrooptische Strahlungsquellen und mikrooptische Empfängerstrukturen auf einem Substrat angeordnet sind.
Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft ein mikrooptisches Bauelement, bei dem mikrooptische Strahlungsquellen und mikrooptische Empfängerstrukturen auf einem Substrat angeordnet sind.
- Als mikrooptische Strahlungsquellen werden LED, Laserdioden, OLED und dergleichen, oder Dünnschichtstrahler und als optische Empfängerstrukturen beispielsweise Photodioden verwendet.
- Optische Funktionselemente und Schichten werden weit verbreitet bei faseroptischen Sensoren eingesetzt. Kanal- und Schichtwellenleiter integrieren heute alle möglichen optischen Funktionen (Strahlteilung, -bündelung, Reflexion, Polarisation/Doppelbrechung) und koppeln diese an optoelektronische Bauelemente, wie LED, Laserdioden, Photodioden usw.
- Auch die unmittelbare Anordnung solcher Funktionen auf der Oberfläche von Strahler, Empfänger bzw. Zwischenträger ist beispielsweise aus
DE 197 26 644 A1 ,DE 195 15 369 A1 undDE 196 19 478 A1 bekannt. Ferner ist es nachDE 197 26 644 A1 bekannt, dass optische Funktionselemente auf Strahler oder Empfänger über ein Klebeverfahren gebildet und aufgebracht werden. - Integrierte holographische Funktionen zur gezielten, wellenlängensensitiven Beeinflussung der Richtung von Lichtstrahlen sind in
DE 38 51 421 A1 beschrieben. Dort werden in einem Volumenhologramm bis zu 1000 Bragg-Gitterebenen angeordnet, um in der optischen Verbindungstechnik von VLSI optische Signale zwischen verschiedenen Sendern und Empfängern zu übertragen (z.B. Taktsignal). - Nach
EP 079 941 A1 - In
DE 199 31 989 A1 werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Strahlformung eines homogenen Intensitätsprofils eines Laserstrahls beschrieben. Dort wird ein optisch adressierbarer ortsauflösender Lichtmodulator verwendet. - Bei einer in
DE 196 19 478 A1 beschriebenen Anordnung wird ein diffraktives Element in einer optischen Schicht integriert und dient so in optoelektronischen Sensoren als Funktionselement für Strahlformung, -teilung, Phasenverschiebung, Polarisation, Strahlprofilgebung und Subapertur. Die diffraktiven Elemente werden dabei in Kunststoff, PMMA-Platten oder -Folien durch Heißprägen erzeugt. - Die bekannten Lösungen weisen den Nachteil auf, dass Blenden angewandt werden, welche die optische Strahlung in Ihrer Ausbreitung beeinflussen. Dabei geht jedoch Strahlungsleistung verloren.
- Andere Lösungen erfordern eine hohe Anzahl von optischen Einzelelementen oder einen hybriden Aufbau mit Wellenleitern.
- Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, durch optimale Ausnutzung des zur Verfügung stehenden, optischen Signals ein besseres Signal-Rauschverhalten und damit eine höhere Güte des optischen Signals und des Wirkungsgrades zu erzielen.
- Erfindungsgemäß wird die Aufgabe mit einer Anordnung, welche die in Anspruch 1 angegebenen Merkmale enthält, gelöst.
- Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen sind in den Unteransprüchen angegeben.
- Die erfindungsgemäße Anordnung verfügt über eine monolitisch oder hybrid hergestellte planare Anordnung von Strahlungs- und Empfängerbaugruppen mit einer gemeinsamen optischen Deck- und Funktionsschicht, welche Bereiche zur Formung, insbesondere Fokussierung und Umlenkung einer ausgesendeten inkohärenten optischen Strahlung aufweist. Als mikrooptische Strahlungsquellen können LED, Laserdioden, OLED und dergleichen, oder Dünnschichtstrahler verwendet werden. Als optische Empfängerstrukturen sind Photodioden besonders geeignet.
- Um die Empfindlichkeit von Strahler-Empfängerbaugruppen zu erhöhen, muss ein Maximum der Strahlungsleistung den Strahlungsempfänger erreichen. Bei planaren Anordnungen von Sender und Empfänger gelangt aber ohne Strahlbeeinflussung nur ein geringer Teil der gesendeten Strahlung durch Reflexion, Remission oder andere optische Wirkprinzipien auf die, auf gleicher Ebene befindlichen Empfängerbauelemente. Ursache dafür ist, dass sich das Maximum der optischen Strahlung der Senderbauelemente in vertikaler Fortsetzung direkt über der LED befindet.
- Dieses Problem wird durch die Erfindung behoben. Dabei wird unmittelbar über die planare Anordnung von Strahler und Empfänger ein diffraktives optisches Funktionselement aufgebracht. Dazu wird eine Polymerschicht durch Maskierungs- und Belichtungsverfahren selektiv in ihren optischen Eigenschaften verändert, so dass ein Oberflächengitter entsteht, welches modifizierte Areale mit Eigenschaften der Strahlbündelung, der winkelabhängigen Strahlfokussierung und Wellenlängenfilterung aufweist.
- Durch das optische Oberflächenreliefgitter wird die Intensität der ausgesendeten Strahlung in ihrer Vorwärtsrichtung reduziert, dagegen die Intensität in bestimmten Winkeln verstärkt. Diese definierten Winkel werden durch die Gitterparameter bestimmt und lassen sich in einem üblichen Herstellungsverfahren einfach einstellen. Die Umlenkung der optischen Strahlung kann auch in Abhängigkeit von einer gewünschten Wellenlänge durch Variation der Gitterparameter erfolgen.
- Das optische Funktionselement ermöglicht es, gerichtete oder ungerichtete Lichtstrahlen, die von den Strahlungselementen emittiert werden, in ihrer Strahlrichtung gezielt zu beeinflussen. Vorteilhaft ist es, diese Schicht auf der Vorder- und/oder Rückseite eines Glaszwischenträgers anzubringen, der in unmittelbarer Nähe zu den Strahlungsquellen und den Empfängerstrukturen angeordnet ist. Dabei kann das optische Oberflächenreliefgitter in Relation zur Strahlquelle so platziert werden, dass der zentrale Teil des Lichts seitlich umgelenkt wird.
- Ferner ist es möglich, das Oberflächenreliefgitter so anzuordnen, dass das emittierte Licht von zwei oder mehr Strahlquellen derart umgelenkt wird, dass die Maxima der Verteilung aller Quellen auf einen lokalen Punkt gerichtet sind.
- Für einige Anwendungsfälle ist es zweckmäßig, dass das Oberflächenreliefgitter das emittierte Licht in Strahlrichtung teilt und damit zwei optische Pfade entstehen.
- Dabei ist es auch möglich, dass das Oberflächenreliefgitter eine Fokussierung des Strahls bzw. Modifizierung des Abstrahlwinkels bewirkt, die der Optimierung der lokalen Intensität des Lichtstrahls in der Empfängerebene dienen.
- Durch ein oder mehrere Oberflächenreliefgitter in derartigen Strahler/Empfängeranordnungen können verschiedene optische Funktionen, wie Fokussierung, Strahllenkung bzw. spektrale Filterung bewirkt werden.
Claims (10)
- Mikrooptisches Bauelement, bei dem mikrooptische Strahlungsquellen und mikrooptische Empfängerstrukturen auf einem Substrat angeordnet sind, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass auf dem Substrat eine monolitisch oder hybrid hergestellte planare Anordnung von Strahlungs- und Empfängerbaugruppen gemeinsam mit einem optischen Funktionselement angeordnet ist, wobei das optische Funktionselement Bereiche zur Formung einer ausgesendeten inkohärenten optischen Strahlung aufweist.
- Bauelement nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sich das optische Funktionselement unmittelbar und planar auf den Strahlungselementen und/oder auf den optischen Empfängerstrukturen befindet.
- Bauelement nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das optische Funktionselement diffraktive, optische Strukturen enthält.
- Bauelement nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Funktionselement ein Oberflächenreliefgitter aufweist, welches die Strahlrichtung gezielt beeinflusst.
- Bauelement nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als mikrooptische Strahlungsquellen LED, Laserdioden, OLED und dergleichen oder Dünnschichtstrahler verwendet werden.
- Bauelement nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als optische Empfängerstrukturen Photodioden angeordnet sind.
- Anordnung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch kennzeichnet, dass sich das optische Funktionselement auf der Vorder- und/oder Rückseite eines Glaszwischenträgers befindet, welcher sich zwischen den Strahlungsquellen und den Empfängerstrukturen befindet.
- Anordnung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch kennzeichnet, dass das optische Funktionselemen ein optisches Oberflächenreliefgitter enthält, welches in Relation zur Strahlquelle so angeordnet ist, dass der zentrale Teil des Lichts seitlich umgelenkt wird.
- Anordnung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das optische Oberflächenreliefgitter als optisches Funktionselement die Strahlrichtung des emittierten Lichts von zwei oder mehr Strahlquellen derart umlenkt, dass die Maxima der Verteilung aller Quellen auf einen lokalen Punkt gerichtet sind.
- Anordnung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das optische Funktionselement das emittierte Licht in ihrer Strahlrichtung teilt und damit zwei optische Pfade entstehen.
