Die Erfindung betrifft die Anwendung einer neuen, bisher nicht bekannten Verbindung aus der Reihe der physiologisch interessanten 16-Androstene zur Stimulierung der Brunstreaktion bei Sauen im Rahmen der industriemäßigen Tierproduktion. Die ersten dieser 16-ungesättigten C-|9-Steroide wurden bereits 1944 in Hodengewebe erwachsener männlicher Schweine entdeckt (Prelog, V., Ruzicka, L.; HeIv. Chim. Acta 27 [1944] 61). Sie sind gekennzeichnet durch einen äußerst widerwärtigen Geruch und ihre physiologische Wirkung als Pheromone bei der Fortpflanzung der Schweine.
