Abstract
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for killing poultry. The aim of the invention is to avoid the injury of the other neck organs by an exact venous or venous artery incision, but nevertheless to achieve a complete bleeding of the poultry in order to avoid meat or animal body losses as well as manual reworking. The object is achieved according to the invention that the bleeding cut is carried out in two phases, the attachment of a puncture wound between the jugular vein or common jugular carotid artery and the non-injurious neck organs trachea, esophagus and medulla spinalis by means of a piercer in the first phase and the subsequent severing of the The jugular or jugular vein and the common carotid artery by means of a circular knife in the second phase, wherein a deflector rotates the poultry head so that injury to the trachea, the esophagus and the medulla spinalis is excluded during insertion. Method and apparatus are intended for use on automatic Gefluegeltoetern.
Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for killing poultry by opening the jugular vein or the jugular vein and the common carotid artery and is intended for use in automatically operating Geflteltötern.
Die Folgen dieser Schnittfehler bekannter Geflügeltöter, die auch in US-PS 37.07.018 beschrieben werden, sind:Known bird-killers that work on the principle of the neck vein incision or the combined cervical vein arterial incision, such. As described in patent DD-WP 01.53.461, DE-OS 26.00.086, US-PS 42.49.285, usually have rotating circular blade for opening the neck vessels. Due to unequal diameter of the necks of the respective animals, different density of plumage on the neck, individual elasticity and strength of the neck skin u. a. The circular blade penetrates at different depths into the neck of the poultry neck passing in a guide gap on the circular blade. In the extreme case this has the consequence that the jugular vein is not or only partially opened or in the other extreme even the spine is cut with, while in most animals, the trachea (esophagus) and the esophagus are cut or severed. The consequences of these cutting errors of known avalanche killers, which are also described in US-PS 37.07.018, are:
If not at least the jugular vein is fully opened, the animal reaches the bath alive and dies by drowning in hot, heavily contaminated water, with larger amounts of this water being aspirated into the lungs.
If the animal reaches the bath by incomplete venous incision, dead but not completely bled, the blood left behind causes discoloration from red to blue-red, which may reduce the sales value of the poultry meat and may even lead to discarding of the carcass.
If the trachea is cut or severed, death occurs as a result of strangulation due to collapse of the trachea or suffocation of invading blood, accompanied by a fierce agony that can result in injury to one's own or neighboring carcass and, as a result, the entire environment From the killer to the Brühbad is spattered with blood, which causes an increased cleaning and disinfection effort. Another consequence is that the trachea, and if injured, including the esophagus, tear off during automatic head pulling and remain in the carcass.
If the spine and thus the spinal cord (medulla spinalis) are injured or separated, the spontaneous muscle hardening and muscle cramps also in the sphincter muscles that surround the bellows, which makes mechanical plucking difficult and manual Nachrupfen required.
Obviously, cutting faults cause agonizing death for the poultry as well as economic losses due to depreciated meat and required reworking. The labor of the engraver pder the Nachrupfers can not be saved.
The aim of the invention is to develop a killing method and a device which avoids the deficiencies mentioned by an exact venous incision or venous artery incision and injured no other neck organs, in particular not the trachea, the esophagus and the medulla spinalis, wherein the device according to the invention should be used to any automatic poultry killers seih.
The object is to find a method and a device that allow a precisely positioned in the depth of cut neck or cervical vein / Arterienschnitt to ensure complete bleeding of the poultry, since the mere application of a pulling cut on the elastic poultry neck this task can not meet in the necessary quality.
An essential feature of the invention is that the cut takes place in two phases.
Figur 1In the first phase, a pass between the jugular vein 2 and the trachea 1 is performed past the spinal column 5, it being immaterial whether the arteria ca red is communis 3 escapes or is punctured towards the spinal column 5 or towards the jugular vein 2. FIG. 1
In the immediately following second phase, the jugular vein 2 or, at the same time as it, the common carotid artery 3 is separated by a cut.
Immediately before the cutting device, a deflector 8 is arranged, which acts on the passing poultry head 12 such that the neck occupies the necessary position when reaching the engraver, so that the spine and trachea are not injured can.
Figur 2 gibt die Anordnung der Wirkelemente wieder, wie sie an einem, beliebigen automatischen Geflügeltöter erfindungsgemäß möglich ist.FIG. 1 illustrates the topographic relationships on the poultry neck at the level of the atlas. FIG. 2 shows the arrangement of the active elements, as is possible according to the invention on any automatic avioner-killer.
After insertion of the anesthetized animal hanging down with the head 12 into a guide gap delimited by any guide elements 9 and present on each known bird-dweller, and after the head 12 of the animal by animal size compensation elements known per se, such as forklift, steering wheel or deflecting lever, has been brought to these guide elements 9, so that the atlas is positioned at the level of the cutting device, the poultry neck 11 is conveyed with a conveyor 10 in a known per se, such as worm, finger chain, finger or fork wheel in the direction of cutting device. When passing the deflector 8, the head is rotated so that during subsequent sliding on the engraver 6 spine (Corda spinalis) 5, esophagus (4) and trachea (trachea) 1 on the obtuse back of the engraver 6 unhindered past, while the jugular vein gets into the narrow gap between the sharp front of the engraver 6 and guide member 9 and 11 exactly separated by the knife 7 in the continuation of the poultry neck. In this case, the Arteria Carotis communis 3, due to their location, either get to the sharp or dull side of the engraver 6 or impaled by this, so cut through or remain unharmed, which is irrelevant to the result, since the jugular vein is completely severed.
