Abstract

It consists of: 10 to 60 percent by weight of glycerin with concentration of 99.5 percent; 10 to 60 percent by weight of 1,3 succinaldehyde; 0.01 to 1 percent by weight of 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol; 0.1 to 2 percent by weight of lavender oil (Lavandula Angustifolia oil); 10 to 30 percent by weight of Cholin salicylate with concentration of 80 percent; and 1 to 20 percent by weight of herbal extract wherein said herbal extract consists of 80 grams of a dry drug of the Calendulae flos cum calyce, 50 grams of a dry drug of Verbasci flos , and 50 grams of a dry drug of Hyperici herba tops extracted in 1000 ml of ethanol.

Description

The present invention is in the field of medical compositions of indeterminate composition comprising algae, lichen, fungi or plants material or derivatives thereof.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Insufficient self-cleaning function of the ear or ingress of dirt (water, dust) may cause excessive earwax to accumulate in the external ear canal. This can lead to a deterioration of the ear canal, as well as to conditions for overgrowth or growth of microorganisms, which can cause inflammation (otitis) and other health problems.

Preparations to remedy this negative condition are usually based on the ability to dissolve the earwax and water in the ear canal so that the resulting solution can drain off or be removed by drying. The preparations exhibit antimicrobial components, whereby their use suppresses the possible overgrowth of microorganisms and hence the possible later inflammation. The antimicrobial action can be achieved in combination by using a suitable main ingredient that dissolves the other ingredients of the formulation, by using antibacterial agents, or by adjusting appropriate properties, e.g., by lowering the pH of the formulation.

In addition, there are compositions which are intended to combat the effects of inflammation, in particular pain relief. These essentially contain active substances with an anti-inflammatory anesthetic and analgesic effect. It may be a combination of corticoid substances and substances with local anesthetic effect (benzoxain, lidocaine, cinchocaine, etc.) or non-steroidal substances and other components with analgesic effects.

A disadvantage of the hitherto known formulations is that the simultaneous combined effect of pain control (anesthetic), anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and cleansing is not achieved. The combination of these effects may be advantageous in the treatment of otitis, particularly at an early stage and, if desired, also in conventional ear cleansing. The formulations currently used act by one or a combination of locally anesthetic and anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and anesthetic effects. In addition, due to the content of antibiotics, corticoids or anesthetics, the products cannot be used for normal ear cleaning.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present invention to provide a combination of the components of the formulation which achieves the combined action of pain relief (anesthetic), anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and cleansing. The preparation can thus be used both for the removal of earwax, water and impurities from the external ear canal, and in particular in the early stages of otitis. The preparation contains a combination of natural and synthetic substances and is in the form of a solution. The composition consists of 10 to 60 wt. % of glycerol at a concentration of 99.5% (glycerol), and from 10 to 60 wt. 1.3 butanediol, also referred to as butylene glycol. The mixture of glycerol and butylene glycol exhibits an emollient effect, softens and dissolves earwax and is also miscible with water. It also serves as a mixture of excipients in which the other ingredients are dissolved. It co-creates an environment unsuitable for the growth of bacterial infections.

It further comprises 0.01 to 1 wt. 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol, also referred to as thymol. Thymol in the preparation acts as an antibacterial component. It appropriately complements the effects of the product, especially if there are water residues in the ear canal that can create an environment suitable for the growth of microbial infections.

The composition further comprises 0.1 to 2 wt. % of Lavandula Angustifolia oil, and from 10 to 30 wt. choline salicylate (Cholin salicylate) at a concentration of 80%. Choline salicylate has anti-inflammatory effects that complement the effects of the product when hardened earwax, dirt or mechanical dirt removal causes skin irritation to the ear canal. The composition further comprises 1 to 20 wt. herbal extract, the herbal extract consisting of 80 grams of dry calendula flower calendulae flos cum calyce, 50 grams of dry drug flower of mullein Verbasci flos and 50 grams of dry drug topper Hyperici herba, extracted in 1000 ml of ethanol. The herbal extract helps regeneration and stimulates the self-cleaning ability of the ear canal.

Thanks to the unique combination of active ingredients, the preparation is particularly suitable for removing earwax, water and dirt from the external ear canal. The earwax dissolves after use and freely flows out of the ear canal, or is softened and then easily removed mechanically. When removing the water from the ear canal (after bath, shower, swimming, diving, etc.), the product is mixed with residual water and allows it to evaporate or leak. The formulation is also particularly suitable as a first-line agent for incipient otitis. The advantage of the preparation is that the effects are achieved without the presence of antibiotics, corticoids or strong anesthetics.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The preparation for relieving painful symptoms in inflammation of the ear and for cleaning the external auditory canal contains a combination of natural and synthetic substances and is in the form of a solution. The composition in this particular embodiment consists of 36.6 wt. % glycerine at a concentration of 99.5%, from 36.6% by weight; 1.3 butanediol, 0.1 wt. % Of 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol; Lavandula Angustifolia oil, from 17.4 wt. choline salicylate (Cholin salicylate) at a concentration of 80% and 8.2% by weight; herbal extract. The herbal extract consists of 80 grams of dry calendula flower calendulae flos cum calyce, 50 grams of dry flower of mullein Verbasci flos and 50 grams of dry drug topper Hyperici herba, extracted in 1000 ml of ethanol.

PATENT CLAIMS A composition for relieving pain in ear inflammation and for cleaning the external auditory canal, which comprises a combination of natural and synthetic substances and is in the form of a solution, characterized in that it consists of 10 to 60 wt. % glycerine at a concentration of 99.5%, from 10 to 60 wt. 1.3 butanediol, from 0.01 to 1 wt. % Of 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol, from 0.1 to 2 wt. % Lavandula Angustifolia oil, from 10 to 30 wt. % choline salicylate Choline salicylate at a concentration of 80% and from 1 to 20% by weight of choline salicylate; herbal extract, the herbal extract consisting of 80 grams of dry calendula flower calendulae flos cum calyce, 50 grams of dry drug flower of mullein Verbasci flos and 50 grams of dry drug topper Hyperici herba extracted in 1000 ml of ethanol.
