Abstract

Ear inflammation relief and external ear canal cleansing contains a combination of natural and synthetic substances and is in the form of a solution. The composition consists of 10 to 60 wt. % glycerin at a concentration of 99.5%, from 10 to 60 wt. % 1.3 butanediol, from 0.01 to 1 wt. % 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol, from 0.1 to 2 wt. % Lavandula Angustifolia oil, from 10 to 30 wt. % choline salicytate 80% choline salicytate and 1 to 20 wt. % of herbal extract. Herbal extract consists of 80 grams of dry drug Calendulae flos cum calyce, 50 grams of dry mullein Verbasci flos and 50 grams of dry drug nate Hyperici herba extracted in 1000 ml of ethanol.

A product for relieving painful symptoms in ear inflammation and for cleaning the external auditory canal

Field of technology

The present invention relates to the field of medicinal preparations of indeterminate composition, containing material from algae, lichens, fungi or plants or their derivatives.

State of the art

In case of insufficient self-cleaning function of the ear or in case of ingress of dirt (water, dust), an excessive amount of earwax may accumulate in the external auditory canal. This can lead to a deterioration in the patency of the ear canal and also to the emergence of conditions for the overgrowth or growth of microorganisms, which can be a source of inflammation (otitis media) or other health problems.

Preparations to correct this negative condition are usually based on the ability to dissolve the earwax and water in the ear canal well so that the resulting solution can drain or be removed by drying. The preparations have antimicrobial components, which, when used, suppresses the possible overgrowth of microorganisms and thus possible later inflammation. The antimicrobial action can be achieved in combination either by using a suitable main component which dissolves the other components of the preparation, by using antibacterial substances or by adjusting suitable properties, e.g. by lowering the pH of the preparation.

There are also products that are designed to reduce the effects of inflammation, especially pain relief. These basically contain active substances with anti-inflammatory anesthetic and analgesic effects. It can be a combination of corticoid substances and substances with a local anesthetic effect (benzocaine, lidocaine, cinchocaine, etc.) or substances of a non-steroidal nature and other components with analgesic effects.

The disadvantage of the hitherto known preparations is the fact that the simultaneous combined action of pain relief (anesthetic), anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and cleansing is not achieved. The combination of these effects may be an advantage in the treatment of otitis in particular

The preparations currently used have one or a combination of local anesthetic and anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and anesthetic effects. In addition, due to the content of antibiotics, corticoids or anesthetics, the products cannot be used for routine ear cleaning.

The essence of the invention

The essence of the present invention is such a combination of components of the preparation which achieves a combined effect of pain relief (anesthetic), anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and cleansing. The product can be used both to remove earwax, water and impurities from the external auditory canal, and especially in the early stages of otitis. The product contains a combination of natural and synthetic substances and is in the form of a solution. The preparation consists of 10 to 60 wt. % glycerin at a concentration of 99.5% (glycerol), and from 10 to 60 wt. % 1.3 of butanediol, also referred to as butylene glycol. The mixture of glycerol and butylene glycol has an emollient effect and softens and dissolves earwax and is also miscible with water. It also serves as a mixture of excipients in which other ingredients are dissolved. It co-creates an environment unsuitable for the growth of bacterial infections.

It further consists of 0.01 to 1 wt. % Of 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol, also referred to as thymol. Thymol acts as an antibacterial component. It suitably complements the effects of the product, especially if residual water sticks in the ear canal, which can create an environment suitable for the growth of microbial infections.

The preparation further consists of 0.1 to 2 wt. % lavender essential oil Lavandula Angustifolia oil, and from 10 to 30 wt. % choline salicylate Choline salicylate at a concentration of 80%. Choline salicylate has anti-inflammatory effects that complement the effects of the product if hardened earwax, dirt or mechanical dirt removal causes irritation of the ear canal skin. The preparation further consists of 1 to 20 wt. % of the herbal extract, which herbal extract consists of 80 grams of Calendulae flos cum calyce, a dry drug of Verbasci flos, and 50 grams of St. John's wort, Hyperici herba, extracted in 1000 ml of ethanol. The herbal extract helps regenerate and stimulates the skin's self-cleansing ability.

Thanks to the unique combination of active ingredients, the product is particularly suitable for removing earwax, water and impurities from the external auditory canal. The earwax dissolves after use of the product and flows freely from the ear canal, or is softened and is then easily removed mechanically.

When removing water from the ear canal (after bathing, showering, swimming, diving, etc.), the product mixes with the residual water and allows it to evaporate or leak. The preparation is also particularly suitable as a first-line treatment for incipient otitis. The advantage of the product is that the effects are achieved in the absence of antibiotics, corticoids or strong anesthetics.

The formulation in this particular embodiment consists of 36.6 wt. % glycerin at a concentration of 99.5%, from 36.6 wt. % 1.3 of butanediol, from 0.1 wt. % Of 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol, from 1.1 wt. % lavender essential oil Lavandula Angustifolia oil, from 17.4 wt. % choline salicylate Choline salicylate at a concentration of 80% and from 8.2 wt. % of herbal extract. The herbal extract consists of 80 grams of dry drug Calendulae flos cum calyce, 50 grams of dry drug Verbasci flos and 50 grams of dry drug St. John's wort Hyper ici her ba, extracted in 1000 ml of eranol.
