Abstract

La invención proporciona un sistema IV para monitorear a un paciente, el cual se coloca en el cuerpo del paciente. El sistema IV incluye: 1) un catéter que se inserta en el sistema venoso del paciente; 2) un sensor de presión conectado al catéter que mide las señales fisiológicas que indican una presión en el sistema venoso del paciente; 3) un sensor de movimiento que mide las señales de movimiento; y 4) un sistema de procesamiento que: i) recibe las señales fisiológicas del sensor de presión; ii) recibe las señales de movimiento del sensor de movimiento; iii) procesa las señales de movimiento comparándolas con un valor umbral predeterminado a fin de determinar cuándo el paciente tiene un grado de movimiento relativamente bajo; y iv) procesa las señales fisiológicas para determinar un parámetro fisiológico cuando el sistema de procesamiento determine que las señales de movimiento están por debajo del valor umbral predeterminado.
