适宜的嵌段共聚物包括有分子式(A-B)X或A-B-A的线状与辐射状的共聚物结构,其中嵌段A是聚乙烯基芳烃嵌段,嵌段B是聚(单链烯基)嵌段,x是至少为1的整数。适宜的嵌段A聚乙烯基芳烃包括如聚苯乙烯,聚α-甲基苯乙烯,聚乙烯基甲苯及它们的组合物。适宜的嵌段B例如包括如聚丁二烯和聚异戊二烯的共轭的二烯弹性体,氢化的弹性体,乙烯/丁烯(氢化的丁二烯)和乙烯/丙烯(氢化的异戊二烯),和它们的组合物与混合物。有用的市售嵌段共聚物可以商品名Kraton D和Kraton G系列购自Shell化学公司(Hous ton,TX),包括如KratonG-1651,商品名Europrene SolT系列购自Eni Chem Elastomers(Houston,TX),商品名Vec tor系列购自Exxon(Dexco)(Houston,TX),商品名Soprene系列购自Enichem Elastomer和商品名Stereon系列购自Firestone Tire & Rubber Co.(Akron,Ohio)。
热塑性组合物中存在的嵌段共聚物量不大于25%重量,优选约1%至20%重量,较为优选约1%至10%重量,最为优选约1%至7%重量。
另外,热塑性组合物可以是无定形的与结晶的聚烯烃,包括均匀的与基本上为线状的乙烯/α-烯烃共聚体,乙烯的共聚体如乙烯/乙烯基乙酸酯,乙烯-丙烯酸甲酯,乙烯-丙烯酸正丁酯,及它们的混合物。
无定形的聚烯烃或无定形的聚α-烯烃是均聚物,共聚物和C2-C-烯烃的三元共聚物。市售的无定形聚α-烯烃包括购自Rexene(Dallas,Texas)的REXTAC(t和REXFlext)基于丙烯的均聚物,乙烯-丙烯共聚物,丁烯-丙烯共聚物,Huls(Piscatawag,New Jerse)的VESTOPLASTα-烯烃共聚物。
金属茂聚烯烃是使用单位点(single-site)或金属茂的催化剂制备的均匀的线状或基本为线状的乙烯聚合物。基本为线状的乙烯聚合物购自Dow Chemical Company并包括聚烯烃塑性体(以商品名AFFINITY出售),均匀的线状乙烯聚合物以商品名EXACT购自Exxon ChemicalCompany。均匀的线状或基本为线状的乙烯聚合物有约0.855至0.885的相对低的密度,和相对低的如小于50g/10min的熔体指数。
术语“共聚体”在此是指共聚物,三元共聚物或更高级聚合物,它们具有至少一个与乙烯聚合的其它的共聚单体。乙烯的共聚体是有至少一个共聚单体的聚合物,共聚单体选自酸部分不超过4个碳原子的饱和羧酸的乙烯基酯,有3至5个碳原子的不饱和一元或二元羧酸,不饱和酸的盐,有1至8个碳原子的醇衍生的不饱和酸的酯,及它们的混合物。乙烯的共聚体的熔体指数范围可在约50至2000,约100至1500,约200至1200,和约400至1200g/10min。
乙烯/不饱和羧酸、盐和酯的共聚体实例包括乙烯/乙烯基乙酸酯,乙烯/丙烯酸和它的离聚物,乙烯/甲基丙烯酸和它的离聚物,乙烯/丙烯酸甲酯,乙烯/丙烯酸乙酯,乙烯/丙烯酸正丁酯,及它们的衍生物。
其它适宜的热塑性聚合物包括如聚丁烯,聚交酯如己内酯聚合物,和聚(羟丁酸酯/羟戊酸酯),某些聚乙烯醇,生物可降解的共聚多酯如Eastman Copolyester 14766(Eastman Chemical),线状饱和聚酯,其实例有商品名DYNAPOL和DYNACOLL(Huls),聚(环氧乙烷)聚醚酰胺和聚酯醚嵌段共聚物,其实例有商品名PEBAX(Atochem)和RITE-FLEX(HoechstCelanese),和聚酰胺聚合物,其实例有商品名UNIREZ(UnionCamp),VESTAMELT(Huls)和GRILTEX(EMS-Chemie)。
超吸收性颗粒包含超吸收性聚合物,它也称为水不溶的吸收性形成水凝胶的聚合物,“形成水凝胶”的聚合物和“水解胶体”。超吸收性聚合物对水的吸收量达自身重量的多倍至1000倍。有用的超吸收性聚合物包括如交联的丙烯酸酯聚合物,乙烯醇-丙烯酸酯共聚物的交联产物,聚乙烯醇用马来酐接枝的交联产物,丙烯酸酯-甲基丙烯酸酯共聚物的交联产物,丙烯酸甲酯-乙烯基乙酸酯共聚物的交联皂化产物,淀粉丙烯酸酯接枝共聚物的交联产物,淀粉丙烯腈接枝共聚物的交联皂化产物,羧甲基纤维素聚合物的交联产物和异丁烯-马来酐共聚物的交联产物,及它们的结合物。
优选的超吸收性颗粒是球形的,有约20μm至30μm,约50μm至64μm的中值粒径,或是它们的掺合物。组合物可包含球形超吸收性颗粒,平均的粒径在20μm至400μm,200μm至400μm,小于180μm,小于100μm,250μm至390μm和250μm至350μm,及它们的掺合物。
有用的市售超吸收性颗粒包括如有商品名AQUA KEEP系列的聚丙烯酸钠超吸收性颗粒,它们包括,如商品名AQUA KEEP10SH-NF(20)的约20μm至30μm中值粒径的颗粒,商品名AQUA KEEP 10SH-NF(60)的约51μm至64μm中值粒径的颗粒,商品名AQUA KEEP 10SH-P的平均颗粒大小约200μm至300μm的颗粒,商品名AQUA KEEP SA60S的平均颗粒大小320μm至370μm的颗粒,商品名AQUA KEEP SA60SX,SA55SXII,和SA60SLII的平均颗粒大小350μm至390μm的颗粒,和有商品名AQUAKEEP SA60N TYPE II的平均颗粒大小250μm至350μm的颗粒(SumitomoSeika Chemicals Col.Ltd.(日本))。
组合物中超吸收性聚合物的存在量约45%至75%重量,优选约60%至75%重量,更优选约65%至72%重量。
有用的增塑剂包括如增塑油,如包括芳香物含量低的烃油,和矿物油(如Petro Canada Lubricants(Calgary,Canada)的Purity35矿物油),优选的增塑油是链烷烃或环烷烃。适宜的市售增塑油的一个实例的商品名为Calsol555(Calumet Refining Co.,Chicago Illinois)。适宜的市售固态重结晶增塑剂的一个实例为Benzolflex352(Velsicol,Rosemont,Illinois)。
组合物中优选的增塑油存在量为15%至约40%重量,较为优选的为约20%至30%重量,最为优选的为约25%至30%重量。
热塑性组合物可非必需地包含表面活性剂。适宜的表面活性剂包括非离子型的,阴离子型的和硅氧烷类表面活性剂。优选的市售表面活性剂的商品名为Aerosol OT100和Aerosol OTB(磺基琥珀酸二辛酯钠)(Cytec Industries,West Paterson,New Jersey),和Rhodacal DS10(十二烷基苯磺酸钠)(Rhone Poulenc,Cranberry,New Jersey)。
当热塑性组合物中有表面活性剂时,表面活性剂量优选不多于约5%重量,较为优选约1%至5%重量,最为优选约1%至2%重量。
热塑性组合物中也可包含其它添加剂如增粘剂,蜡,抗氧化剂,颜料和它们的组合物。
适宜的增粘剂实例包括木松香,浮油松香,浮油衍生物,松脂,松香酯树脂,天然的萜烯,合成的萜烯和石油基的增粘剂,包括例如脂族、芳香族和混合脂族-芳香族的石油基增粘剂。有用的烃树脂包括例如α-甲基苯乙烯树脂,支链与非支链的C5树脂,C9树脂和C10树脂,苯乙烯的和它的氢化变体,以及它们的结合物。市售有用的增粘剂的一个实例是Zonatac 105苯乙烯化的萜烯树脂(Arizona Chemicals Inc.,PanamaCity,Florida)。市售有用的增粘的粘合组合物的实例包括HL-1620-A,HL-2238和HL-1500热塑性粘合剂(H.B.Fuller Cempany,VadnaisHeights,Minnesota)。
增粘剂可非必需地存在于组合物中,组合物中存在增粘剂时其量优选不大于40%重量,较为优选不大于30%重量。
热塑性组合物可在模具或转筒中造粒或铸造,以供随后的包括如再熔的加工与应用。
热塑性组合物以各种各样的形态例如涂料,膜,粘结剂,纤维和织造的与非织造的织物而使用。热塑性组合物可施加于或掺入到各种基材,例如织造的与非织造的织物,多孔基材,膜,带材衬背(tape backings),吸收制品如一次性尿布,妇女用卫生巾,医用绷带(如创伤护理品),擦巾,纸巾,毛巾与片材和吸收制品的组件,包括如吸收芯,不渗透层(如背片),纸巾(如包卷纸巾),接收层与织造的及非织造的织物层(如顶片,吸收纸巾)以及它们的结合物。
该组合物也使用在许多应用中,包括如防湿层(如供光学电缆应用),旨在增加保湿性的农业应用,含有吸收湿气与液体(如血与浆汁)的部件(如薄板,薄棉纸)的包装品(如食品与药物包装品),和防止凝固与防水的建筑材料。该组合物也使用在电缆的包覆包括如水下电缆的包覆。
各种应用技术可将热塑性组合物施加于基材上,包括如狭缝涂覆,包括如螺旋形的与随意式喷涂的喷涂,网板印刷,起泡沫,花轧辊,挤出与熔融吹制粘附应用技术。

试验方法
实例中所使用的试验方法包括如下。
水的吸收量
总吸收量是由拉制熔融膜或热压热塑性组合物形成有20密耳厚或近0.3g/in2涂层重量的膜来测定的。将该膜切割成1平方英寸(2.54cm)并称重,然后膜样品放入50ml杯中,倒入30ml水(必要时多一些)于膜顶面,在30分钟后过滤未吸收的水并称重,测量吸收的水总量和每克组合物吸收的水克数,以g水/g复合材料记录。
水凝胶时间法
水凝胶时间是由拉制熔融膜或热压热塑性组合物形成有20密耳厚即约0.3g/in2(6.45g/cm2)涂层重量的膜测定的。将该膜样品切割成1平方英寸(2.54cm)并称重。然后把膜样品放入25ml杯中,在膜顶面倒入10ml水。开启秒表以分钟(min)记录胶凝体出现所需的时间(即所有的水被试样吸收所需的时间量)
0.9%食盐水溶液的吸收量
0.9%食盐水溶液的总吸收量是由拉制熔融膜或热压热塑性组合物形成20密耳厚或约0.3g/in2涂层重量的膜而测定的。该膜切成1平方英寸(2.54cm)并称重。将该样品膜置于50ml杯中并将30ml(必要时多一些)0.9%食盐水溶液倒入膜的顶面。30分钟后滤去未吸收的食盐水溶液并称重。测定吸收的0.9%食盐水溶液的重量并以g 0.9%食盐水溶液/g复合材料记录每克组合物吸收的0.9%食盐水溶液的克数。
0.9%食盐水溶液的凝胶时间
对于0.9%食盐水溶液的凝胶时间是由拉制熔融膜或热压热塑性组合物形成有20密耳厚或近0.3g/in2涂层重量的膜测定的。将该膜切割成1平方英寸(2.54cm)并称重。然后把膜放入25ml的杯中,在膜顶面倒入10ml 0.9%食盐水溶液。开启秒表,记录胶凝体形成所需的时间(即全部0.9%食盐水溶液被吸收所需的时间量)。
粘度
使用Brookfield Laboratories DVII+粘度计测定试样的粘度。使用的转轴是适合于测定10至100,000厘泊粘度的SC-27热熔转轴。将试样放入一次性使用的铝样品舱中,该舱插入于Brookfield Thermosel并锁定在应用位置。将试样加热至300°F,并加入另外的试样,直至熔融的试样位于试样舱顶部约1英寸(2.5cm)以下。放低粘度计装置使转轴沉浸于试样中。启动粘度计并产生有30%至60%转矩读数的剪切速度。在约15分钟内记录每分钟的读数直到读值稳定。最终的读数以厘泊(cps)记录。
湿拉伸强度的测定
将试样组合物拉成20密耳厚的膜,从膜切出2in×1in的长条。在每一长条的每端1/2英寸处贴掩蔽带。将长条浸渍于0.9%食盐水溶液达5分钟,然后慢慢地干燥以除去过量的液体。在1分钟内将试样放置于Instron试验机(Instron Corporation,Canton,Massachusetts)的夹子之间。以12in/min的十字头速度作拉伸强度试验,对5个试样长条得的平均值以克为单位记录。
实例1-8
实例1-8各热塑性组合物的制备方法是将各组分(超吸收性颗粒除外)按表1指示的数量混合。在搅拌下加热该组合物至约300°F。然后超吸收性颗粒按表1指示的量加入于熔融的热塑性组合物中并进行搅拌。
对实例1-8的组合物进行试验,以测定其水凝胶时间,0.9%食盐水溶液凝胶时间,水吸收量,0.9%食盐水溶液吸收量和粘度。对实例6-8的湿拉伸强度也作了测定。结果示于表1。

Claims (34)

1.热塑性组合物,包括:
约1%重量至约25%重量的有分子式(A-B)x或A-B-A的嵌段共聚物,其中嵌段A包含聚乙烯基芳烃,嵌段B包含聚(单链烯基),和x是至少为1的整数;
约45%重量至约75%重量的包含聚丙烯酸酯的球状超吸收性聚合物颗粒;和
约15%重量至约40%重量的增塑剂,
所述的组合物在300°F显示不大于65,000厘泊的粘度。
2.权利要求1的热塑性组合物,其中所述的超吸收性聚合物颗粒有20μm至30μm的中值粒径。
3.权利要求1的热塑性组合物,还包含表面活性剂。
4.权利要求1的热塑性组合物,还包含约1%重量至约5%重量的表面活性剂。
5.权利要求1-4任一项的热塑性组合物,包含60%重量至约75%重量的所述超吸收性聚合物。
6.权利要求1-4任一项的热塑性组合物,其中的嵌段共聚物选自苯乙烯-异戊二烯-苯乙烯,苯乙烯-乙烯-丁烯-苯乙烯,苯乙烯-乙烯-丙烯-苯乙烯,苯乙烯-丁二烯-苯乙烯和它们的结合物。
