Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明总体上涉及用于在显示应用中减少运动假象的类型的滚动背光系统的改善和,更具体地,本发明涉及以克服通常与滚动背光系统有关的问题的方式将来自于一个光源的高强度光滚动越过液晶电视(LCD-TV)显示器的背光面板的装置。
本发明更进一步涉及包含这种背光系统的面板。
背景技术
在液晶显示器(LCD)操作的发射模式中,从适当的光源发出的光被导向从观众的角度看位于LCD对面的面板。
为了减少LCD-TV显示器中的运动假象,用一道光束连续滚过面板的方式提供光源已被证明是有效的。目前,用来减少LCD-TV的运动假象的滚动背光系统使用直接背光冷阴极荧光灯(CCFL)或边缘背光白色RGB(红、绿、蓝)发光二极管,后者要求的功率比前者更多。两种系统都具有不合要求的特征例如在面板区域有不一致的照度和/或亮度水平。
本发明的目的是克服相关技术的一个或多个问题或缺点。
发明概述
从适当光源发出的光被导入
(a)光源(10)
(b)旋转装置(16、30),用于将光导向多个光波导管(24),每个光波导管都有一个近端(24’)和一个远端(24”)。
(c)所述近端面向所述旋转装置排列。
(d)所述远端(24”)沿着所述面板(26)的一个边缘(26’)直线排列和
(e)为所述旋转装置施加旋转的动力装置(28)。
在一个实施例中,光被导入一个柱状卷筒的开放端,该柱状卷筒的另一端是封闭的。该卷筒具有高反射性的内表面并且在柱状壁上有一个预定尺寸的孔。该卷筒围绕它的轴以固定的角速度旋转,使得穿过上述孔的光束类似地以环形的方式旋转。一个光纤阵列中每条光纤的近端位于与卷筒同轴的圆周上,并且与包含所述孔的卷筒的外表面的位置向外隔开。该光纤的远端沿着例如LCD阵列的背光面板的边缘直线排列,并且远端与近端排列次序相同。因此,光束穿过上述孔并顺序照射光纤的近端,从而被引导并连续滚动穿过面板以便为背光提供充足且均匀的亮度。
在进一步的实施例中,一个透明的固定体把光束导向一个波导管的堆叠,这些波导管的远端沿透射显示面板的背光面板的边缘排列。

具体实施方式
现在参考附图,高强度光源10发射的光被抛物面反光镜12导入卷筒16的开放端14。在投影机应用中高强度放电灯,例如金属卤化物灯,优选作为光源10,但在其他应用中不同类型的灯泡或灯可能更可取。圆柱形壁18同心环绕卷筒轴X-X,并且末端壁20封闭与开放端14相对的末端。壁18和20的内表面具有高反射性且设计为引导光向外耦合至卷筒壁18上的孔22。
多个向内耦合的光纤光导管24位于使每条光纤的近端24’都位于与轴X-X共轴的圆周上的位置,面向且接近孔22的平面上的壁18。导管24的远端24”与面板26的边缘26’以线性阵列的方式相连且与近端24’相对于轴X-X排列的顺序相同。导管24的数量最好大于侧面26’的长度的英寸数。例如,16或更多条导管应提供给15英寸的面板,这当然依赖于面板设计的细节和光导物理参数。
在操作中,旋转被例如马达28以恒定的角速度Wr施加给卷筒16。因此,穿过孔22的所述光束类似地围绕轴X-X旋转并且按顺序扫描光纤24的末端24’。孔22的尺寸和光纤末端24’的位置是便于所述光束扫描每条光纤末端的整个表面,按照该末端关于所述卷筒的位置的顺序241-24n每次一条。所述光被光纤引导到达并穿过远端24”,其按照相同的顺序241-24n沿着边缘26’排列,从而为面板26提供均匀亮度水平可接受的照明的滚动背光。
在图3中多个向内耦合的波导24布置为使每条导管24’的近端位于另一条之上且面向并紧密接近旋转棱镜30。导管24的远端24”与面板26的边缘26’以与图1、2所述相同的线性阵列方式相连。
在操作中,旋转例如由马达以恒定角速度(箭头31)施加给棱镜30。因此,穿过透镜33和棱镜30的光束同样围绕轴X-X旋转(箭头34)并顺序扫描光纤24的末端24’。波导管末端24’的尺寸和位置便于所述光束扫描每条波导管末端的整个表面,以241-24n的顺序每次一条,其中每个末端位于另一末之上。光被波导管引导到达并穿过远端24”,其按照相同的顺序241-24n沿着边缘26’排列,从而为面板26提供均匀亮度水平可接受的照明的滚动背光。
可以使用后部元件例如立方体或五边形代替(透明的)棱镜。
通过研究附图、公开内容和附加权利要求可得知本发明的其它方面和特征。例如,其它透明显示效果可在面板26中应用。
Claims (7)
1、一种用于透射显示面板的滚动背光系统,所述系统包含:
a)一个光源(10);
b)用来引导光进入多个光波导管(24)的旋转装置(16,30),每个光波导管均有一个近端(24’)和一个远端(24”);
c)所述近端排列为面向所述旋转装置。
d)所述远端(24”)沿着所述面板(26)的一个边缘(26’)线性排列,和
e)动力装置(28),用来向所述旋转装置施加旋转。
2、如权利要求1所述背光系统,其中所述光源(10)是高强度放电灯。
3、如权利要求1所述背光系统,其中所述动力装置(28)以恒定的角速度(Wr)转动所述旋转装置(16)。
4、如权利要求1所述滚动背光系统,带有一个液晶显示器,所述系统包含:
a)一个光源(10);
b)一个带有圆柱形侧壁(18)的卷筒(16),该圆柱形侧壁(18)具有中心轴(X-X),一个末端壁(20)封闭所述卷筒的一端,所述卷筒的另一端(14)开放,所述侧壁和末端壁具有高反射性内表面,以及一个延伸穿过所述侧壁的预定尺寸的孔(22);
c)一个位于将来自所述光源的光反射进入所述卷筒的所述开放端的位置的反光镜(12);
d)多个光纤(24),每个光纤具有一个近端(24’)和一个远端(24”);
e)所述近端(24’)排列在与所述中心轴(X-X)同轴的圆周上,并在所述孔的平面上以1-n的顺序与所述卷筒(16)成面对关系;
f)所述远端(24”)沿着所述面板(26)的一个边缘(26’)以1-n的顺序线性排列;和
g)用于为所述卷筒施加围绕所述中心轴的旋转的动力装置(28),从而来自所述卷筒(16)内部的光束穿过所述孔(22),并按所述顺序1至n的顺序照射所述光纤的所述近端(24’),经过该近端到达所述远端(24”),并到达所述面板(26),为所述液晶显示器提供滚动背光照明。
5、如权利要求4所述的背光系统,其中所述光纤(24)的数量大于所述(26)面板的所述一侧(26’)的长度的英寸数。
6、如权利要求1所述的背光系统,包含一个透镜,所述旋转装置是透明的并包含旋转棱镜、旋转立方体和旋转五边形中的一个。
7、包含依照权利要求1的背光系统的显示设备。
