Abstract

Description

用于访问多媒体文件集合的方法
本发明涉及一种对大量用户提供对数字多媒体文件集合(collection)访问的方法。
术语“数字多媒体文件”意指任一数字化的文件，例如可以是视频、图形动画、照片、音频、音乐、文本、电子游戏类型或者是这些多媒体项目的任一其它合成物的计算机文档，尤其是通过因特网直接或间接可访问的任一类型的因特网站点的计算机文档。
传统上通过所谓的点对点(point-to-point)装置来执行在要求时通常提供的对数字多媒体文件选集(selection)的访问，尤其是对视频文件或者因特网站点的访问。这些访问因此要求在每个访问终端与计算机服务器中心之间的高速率计算机连接，其中计算机服务器中心在所存储的存储器中具有数字格式化的多媒体文件。这些计算机连接必须提供最小每秒300,000(三十万)个字符的传输速率，以用于访问电视质量的视频文件。这些连接可以是诸如电缆、卫星或者一般的无线电连接的基于地面的连接。但是，计算机连接必须与终端一样多。根据这个方案，并且在用于按要求访问用于公共大众的多媒体文件的装置的构架内，高速率计算机连接被要求与允许同时传输这些大量数字文档的访问终端一样多。高速率计算机连接的成本十分高，并且这类配制假设该成本乘以终端的数量，从而使得这类按要求的访问现今用于实际应用时在经济上出现更高的成本。而且，多媒体文件服务器随后应当同时发送至少等于被连接的终端数量的确定数量的文档。在用于公共大众的项目构架中，这可能要超过几十万的终端。当前没有计算机服务器能够提供所需的传输速率，即应当大于每秒三百亿个字符。
本发明的目的在于，提供一种用于给大量用户到数字多媒体文件集合访问的方法，并且该方法从唯一的服务器中心进行，并无需倍增计算机连接。
根据本发明，该目的通过根据权利要求1的方法来实现，该方法可以通过从属权利要求的特征更好地实现。
根据本发明，数字多媒体文件集合通过卫星在给定的地理区域上进行传输。同时它可以由出现在此特定地理区域内的所有用户通过接收器终端来接收。由终端接收的数字多媒体文件根据用户的兴趣档案(interest profile)优选地存储在与每个终端相关的存储单元内。对存储的文件随后的访问将通常需要授权访问的数字文档，该数字文档在访问文件的请求之后被传输到用户。
本发明的其它特征和优点将会从几个优选实施例的详细描述中得出，这些实施例在以下通过参照附图的叙述被示出。在图1、2-a、2-b、2-c、3-a和3-b中稍后示出了用于描述根据本发明的方法的简化图。
图1描述了根据本发明的方法的第一步的机制。该步骤对应于向专用的接收器终端8发送文件。
对于专用的终端变得可访问的多媒体文件作为计算机文档存储在服务器中心1内。这些文档通过基于地面的高速计算机网络连接2被发送到数字数据卫星传输计算机装置3。文档随后被编码并作为电磁波发送到卫星10，卫星10在给定的地理区域上将其发送回5。该操作可以关系到几个同时发送的具有用于预设将被分配给每一文档的发送的传输速率的优先级的文档。所有出现在由卫星10覆盖的地理区域上的卫星接收终端8，通过专门用于卫星接收的抛物面天线6同时接收发射波5。该天线6通过同轴计算机连接7连接到该终端。存在于终端8中的卫星解码装置对电磁波5解码，以便再现最初编码的计算机文档。这些文档随后存储在终端8的存储装置9中，存储装置物理上可以是传统的计算机硬盘，或者任一其它的数字存储介质。因此，所有出现在该地理区域上接收电磁波5的终端8同时将相同的文档存储在存储单元9内。并且这种情况发生时，与出现在该地理区域中的终端数量无关。
根据本发明的一个重要方面，用户可以定制数字多媒体文件的档案，该档案实际上可以存储在终端8的存储单元9中。在这种情况下，只有根据上述原则存储的并与用户定义的档案匹配的文档被实际存储在终端8的存储单元9中。与该档案不匹配的文档在由终端8接收时被删除。
如果在终端8的存储单元9中剩余的存储空间不再充足，则存储的文档根据它们的优先顺序逐渐被自动删除，以便为存储新接收的文档留出空间。然而，将要被理解的是，用户具有将被存储的文档标记为不可删除的可能性。
图2a、2b和2c描述了根据本发明的方法的第二步的机制。该步骤对应于对存储在终端中的多媒体文件的控制和访问。
图2-a描述了用于访问存储在终端8的存储单元中的文档的机制。例如通过使用遥控器12、连接到接收终端8的计算机键盘或鼠标，用户可以搜索这些文件中的一个或多个。存储在终端8的存储单元内的文件的列表和细节被显示在连接到终端8的监视器14上。该监视器14可以是传统的电视机或计算机监视器。
只要他/她通过他的/她的遥控器12选择他/她希望访问的多媒体文件并在终端8中记录他的/她的请求，该用户就具有用于获得对作为数字授权文档的该文件的访问权的两种可能性。
根据图2-b，终端8通过远程计算机连接16连接到服务器中心1，例如，其中远程计算机连接16可以是电话连接。终端8在已经被服务器中心1识别之后，发送它的访问权请求到作为数字文档的所希望的多媒体文件。服务器中心1随后能够处理被接收的访问请求。

参照图3-a，应注意的是，对于每个接收到的命令，多媒体文件服务器中心1生成作为数字文档的授权。该文档通过基于地面的高速计算机网络连接2发送到数字数据卫星传输计算机装置3。该文档随后被编码并作为电磁波4发送到卫星10，卫星10在其覆盖的地理区域上将其发送回来。命令从其产生的用户的卫星接收器终端8通过其抛物面天线6接收该波5。响应于由用户执行的命令出现在终端8中的卫星解码装置单独对电磁波5进行解码，以便再现对应于访问授权的文档。

Claims (8)

1.一种用于给大量用户到数字多媒体文件集合访问的方法，其特征在于：
在给定的地理区域上对所述数字多媒体文件集合进行卫星传输；
由所有出现在所述给定的地理区域上的用户通过接收器终端同时接收经由卫星传输的所述文件集合；以及
将由所述终端接收到的数字多媒体文件的后续访问存储在与每个所述终端相关的存储单元中。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于：
预设的用户兴趣档案与接收终端相关联；以及
所述被接收的数字多媒体文件的所述存储根据所述用户的兴趣档案以可选的方式来执行，与所述预设的兴趣档案不匹配的所述被发出的集合的数字多媒体文件不被存储在所述存储单元内。
3.如权利要求1或2所述的方法，其特征在于，所述被存储的数字多媒体文件根据它们的优先顺序被自动删除，以便为存储所述集合的其它文件留出存储空间。
4.如权利要求1至3中任一项所述的方法，其特征在于，为被存储的数字多媒体文件定义删除标准的用户的可能性。
5.如权利要求1至4中任一项所述的方法，其特征在于，用户对存储在其存储单元的特定的数字多媒体文件的访问需要用于访问所述文件的数字授权文档。
6.如权利要求5所述的方法，其特征在于，所述数字访问授权文档被有选择地传输到请求访问所述文件的用户的终端。
7.如权利要求6所述的方法，其特征在于，访问文件的请求通过用户与处理对所传输的数字多媒体文件集合的访问的服务器之间的点对点连接来执行。
8.如权利要求1至7中任一项所述的方法，其特征在于，几个数字多媒体文件通过卫星被同时传输，并且与它们的传输速率有关的优先等级被指配给这些文件。
