(1)技术领域
本发明涉及解决通信问题的软件。更具体地说,本发明涉及一种传统电子邮件(e-mail)和即时消息传输系统的实时结合。
(2)背景技术
随着计算机的出现,通信变得前所未有的便捷。当朋友或家人在线时,如果通信能被实时调用,就如即时消息传输中所发生的,就会使通信会变得更简单。即时消息传输使用一个调用实时通信协议的计算机。
在使用实时通信协议的即时消息传输中,如果在开始即时消息传输前就知道用户的屏幕名字,实时通信就是可能的。如果具有某个特定的屏幕名字的用户不在线,那么对于实时通信来说,用户的屏幕名字的列表并不是完全有用的。这就意味着,为了使实时通信变的可能,在开始与某人进行实时通信前,不仅需要知道该用户的屏幕名字,还需要该用户登陆。
终端用户通常拥有一个地址,称为“e-mail”地址,是该用户在一个计算机或类似的设备上进行电子通信的特定地址。在电子邮件中,消息能在方便的时间被发送、接收或保存。在传统的e-mail系统中,消息在“信封”中被发送,“信封”会被接收者打开并阅读。
传统的e-mail系统,在穿过局域网络边界进行操作时,不允许消息的发送者确定他们的消息是否已经被阅读。结果,消息的发送者必须打电话给接收者来确认所需的消息不仅已经到了接收者的系统中,并且接收者已经阅读过它。
很多专有的e-mail系统,允许发送者检查一个分开的数据库来看一下消息是否被收到了。有些专有的e-mail系统包括确认的特征,允许接收者的e-mail系统在接收者已经打开消息时发送一个通知给发送者。
在采用先前技术的e-mail系统中,e-mail消息的发送者需要等上一段时间来等待回应。另外,消息的发送者不确定他们是否能得到一个e-mail回应。当用户登陆到一个e-mail时,按照AOL即时信使的即时消息传输就成为可能。AOL时代华纳公司下的美国在线公司在使用实时通信协议的即时消息传输技术上处于领先。
在AOL即时信使服务中,例如,当登陆到一个e-mail地址时,用户可以使用任何数目的屏幕名字并可以立刻和其他用户进行即时通信。然而,为了使即时通信变的可能,用户必须手工检查与其他用户的e-mail地址相关联的屏幕名字当时确实在线。问题在于,因为有可能有一个以上的屏幕名字与一个e-mail地址相关,对许多个被激活的屏幕名字,用手工完成即时在线消息服务成为一项很困难的任务。
在现有技术的系统中,例如AOL的邮件联系人在线系统,要使用即时消息传输服务,用户必须作为一个成员。通常,使用这种服务的成员资格都需要付费。在邮件联系人在线系统服务中,图形窗口显示了(图1)一个分开的窗口,具有与来自即时消息传输窗口分开的一个e-mail通信窗口。即时消息传输窗口显示了一个好友列表,是一个来自相邻的e-mail窗口并且仅仅是那些可以进行即时消息传输的屏幕名字的列表。
采用先前技术的困难之处在于这种服务并不是普遍可用的,除非用户要求了使用e-mail和/或即时消息传输的成员资格并且交付了成员资格费用。考虑到非AOL成员的e-mail接入的可用性,先前技术的即时消息传输服务局限于好友列表中可用的屏幕名字的数量。“即时消息传输”是AOL术语,所以用它来指代AOL成员的“AOL即时信使”。
给出了几种现有的即时消息传输服务,就有一种需求,将即时消息传输服务和e-mail服务相结合,这样接入到任何e-mail服务的用户,不局限于AOL成员服务,就能使用AOL的免费即时消息传输并且进行实时通信。
我们需要的是一种一般性的服务,任何接入到e-mail和即时消息传输服务的人可以与任何其他人进行即时交谈。这种一般性的服务应该允许一个能使e-mail和即时消息传输服务同时并且平稳地进行的图形窗口,这样,即时消息传输就能实时地立刻被实现。
(3)发明内容
本发明提供一种自动将传统的e-mail和即时消息传输相结合的机制,这样就能实时地提供即时通信。在本发明的一个实施例中,系统有一单个的通用图形窗口以及与其相邻的e-mail地址和在线交谈地址,于是任何接入到e-mail地址的人就能立刻开始AOL免费即时消息传输服务。被激活的可用于即时消息传输的屏幕名字旁边会出现一个图标,这样,当图标出现在屏幕名字旁边时,通过点击该图标就能进行即时消息传输。
在本发明的一个具体实施例中,系统具有一组e-mail地址并且向即时消息传输服务要求一个相关联的屏幕名字的列表。系统接下来自动检验每一个可用于在线通信的屏幕名字。当某个特定的屏幕名字可用于进行即时通信时,系统使该屏幕名字与特定的e-mail地址相关联。可用于在线即时消息传输的屏幕名字的旁边会出现一个图标。当图标出现在被激活的屏幕名字旁边时,点击它就可进行即时消息传输。
在一个实施例中,系统建立一个屏幕名字列表并将它们中在线出现的加入到一个好友列表中。在另一个实施例中,系统和一个防止其他人知道该用户的屏幕名字的用户接口(UI)相关。在又一个实施例中,当屏幕名字当前没有被使用但仍然与同一个e-mail地址相关联时,系统允许进行手工搜索。
接下来,系统询问与特定的屏幕名字相关的用户是否进行在线通信。接收者可以通过点击和可用于即时消息传输的屏幕名字相关的图标来选择与该用户进行通信。这样,系统就建立了实时的即时消息传输。

(5)具体实施方式
今天,在为了商业目的而存在的电子邮件系统中,发送者能够通过多种网络发送消息,例如局域网、广域网、因特网、无线网络或类似的网络。然而,这并不意味着消息的发送者可以立刻得到一个e-mail回应。
当用户登陆到一个电子邮件或e-mail时,如果接收者的屏幕名字以及e-mail地址是已知的,即时消息传输就是可能的。然而,因为用户在登陆到一个e-mail时能够使用任何数目的屏幕名字,这个通信就不是一个实时的即时通信。更多情况下,用户需要手工找回与该e-mail地址相关且正在被用来进行在线通信的屏幕名字。
本发明(图1A)提供了一种自动结合系统1000,结合传统e-mail和即时消息传输服务,更具体地说,是AOL的免费即时消息传输服务,以提供实时通信。本发明包括一个系统,该系统获得一组e-mail地址并向即时消息传送服务请求一个和该e-mail地址相关的屏幕名字的列表。该系统和一个用户接口(UI)相关,该用户接口在用户对在线通信不感兴趣(在图1A中表示为OFF)并希望他的屏幕名字不提供给他的消息的接收者使用时,保护该用户的屏幕名字。当用户的屏幕名字对系统来说不可用时,该系统对和该e-mail地址相关的屏幕名字进行手工搜索200。仅仅使用可用的e-mail地址的知识手工搜索200的问题在于,当用户进行手工搜索屏幕名字时,没有前后联系的信息来指示某人确实在线或者哪个屏幕名字正在被使用。因为这变的很冗长,于是一个邀请300被发送到用户,使其参与到在线通信并且请求一个对应于该e-mail的可用的屏幕名字。
通常,用户只是对在线通信感兴趣而并不在意如果该屏幕名字可用于在线消息传输。在图1A中,这被象征性地表示为用户接口(UI)的“开”状态并且本发明允许进行自动搜索100。该系统接下来自动进行搜索100来确认每一个可用于在线通信的屏幕名字。当一个特定的屏幕名字可用时,系统接着将该屏幕名字和特定的e-mail地址相关联。在一个实施例中,系统周期性地跟踪一个屏幕名字的列表,跟踪它们的在线出现状况并将它们添加到一个好友列表400中。
当用于即时消息传输的屏幕名字旁边的图标500被激活时,一个在线实时通信就被建立。用户当前可进行即时通信时,接收者可以通过点击和其屏幕名字相关联的图标来选择与该用户进行通信。这样,本发明就建立了实时的即时消息传输。
图2是通过e-mail启用一使用自动实时通信100(图1A)的即时通信机制的流程图。当用户接口启用时10(或者在图1A中为开),该方法包括获取一组e-mail地址20并向即时消息传输服务要求一个相关的屏幕名字的列表30。对每一个屏幕名字分别进行是否可用于实时通信的自动检验50。如果有一个屏幕名字可用于即时消息传输,该系统将该可用的屏幕名字和特定的e-mail地址相关联60并通过点击图标500(图1A)来建立与该特定屏幕名字间的实时通信70。如果没有可用于即时消息传输的屏幕名字,系统就不能将屏幕名字与特定的e-mail地址建立关联,于是就简单地继续搜索下一个可用于实时消息传输的屏幕名字40。当实时通信是用所述的自动搜索50来建立时,系统就说成是完成了它的任务并到停止步骤80。
图3是使用手工搜索屏幕名字200来启用实时通信的机制的流程图。当用户接口没有开启110(或者在图1A中为关),该方法包括获取一组e-mail地址120并通过手工寻找与该e-mail地址相关的屏幕名字来制作一个屏幕名字列表130,如果屏幕名字可用,就建立即时消息传输140。当实时通信是用所述的手工搜索130建立时,系统将一个图标(图1A中的500)与可用于即时消息传输的屏幕名字相关联150。系统说成是完成了它的任务并进入停止步骤150。
图4是本发明的另一个实施例的流程图,包括,当用户接口没有开启时(图1A中关),邀请用户参加即时通信并要求该用户提供进行实时通信的屏幕名字。当用户不希望对互联网上的所有人公开他的屏幕名字时,该实施例能帮助该用户进行实时通信。系统获取一组经选择的e-mail地址220,手工检查屏幕名字是否可用于即时消息传输220。如果屏幕名字可用于即时消息传输240,图标500(图1)被点击后即时消息传输就被建立。
如果屏幕名字不能用于即时消息传输,接下来系统通过发送电子邮件或e-mail来邀请用户进行即时通信250。如果该邀请被接受270,接下来系统就得到了用户的屏幕名字280,并在图标500(图1A)被点击时建立一个实时通信290。当实时通信建立后系统功能完成,进入停止300,如果该邀请没有被接受260,系统功能也完成。
图5是本发明的另一个实施例的流程图,包括在任何时候将一个屏幕名字列表放入一个称为好友列表的列表中以进行即时消息传输。在这个实施例中,系统建立一个屏幕名字的列表来跟踪它们的在线状况并将它们中在线出现的放入好友列表中。当用户接口启用(在图1A中为开)并给出e-mail地址列表320时,系统进行自动屏幕名字自动查找330。接下来确认可用的屏幕名字是否和特定的e-mail地相关以及是否可用于实时通信。
如果该屏幕名字不可用350,系统回到屏幕名字列表寻找下一个直到找到一个可用于即时消息传输的屏幕名字。如果系统找到了对应于该可用于即时消息传输的e-mail地址的屏幕名字,则建立一个包括e-mail地址和与其相关的屏幕名字的好友列表360。对好友列表进行周期性的检查以确定其在线出现情况370并进行更新以建立实时通信390或回到380处理该e-mail地址的下一个可用的屏幕名字。当实时通信建立时,点击图标500和已显示屏幕名字的用户进行通信,过程圆满结束395。
虽然这里本发明参照较佳实施例做了描述,熟悉本领域的人员很容易认识到其它的应用可以用来替代这里所提到的内容,而不脱离本发明的思想和范围。因此,本发明应该仅以权利要求为准。

Claims (11)

1.一种用于即时通信的计算机实现方法,包括以下步骤:
接收一组e-mail地址;
向一即时消息传输服务请求一个与所述e-mail地址相关联的屏幕名字的列表;
确认可用于实时通信的屏幕名字;
使所述确认的屏幕名字与所述e-mail地址相关联;以及
通过选择与所述屏幕名字相关联的图标来建立所述实时通信。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于所述确认步骤包括自动确认与所述e-mail地址相关联的屏幕名字的步骤。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于所述确认步骤包括手工确认与可用于实时通信的所述e-mail地址相关的屏幕名字的步骤。
4.如权利要求2所述的方法,进一步包括建立和一个特定的e-mail地址相关的所述屏幕名字的列表。
5.更新可用于即时通信的屏幕名字的接收者的计算机实现方法,包括以下步骤:
接收一组e-mail地址;
向一即时消息传输服务请求一个与所述e-mail地址相关联的屏幕名字的列表;
确认适用于实时通信的屏幕名字;
使所述确认的屏幕名字与所述e-mail地址相关联;以及
制作一个与所述屏幕名字相关的e-mail地址列表;
重复更新所述e-mail地址列表以可用于实时通信;以及
通过选择与用户的屏幕名字相关联的图标来建立所述即时通信。
6.如权利要求5所述的方法,进一步包括手工确认和所述e-mail地址相关联的屏幕名字用于在以后进行通信。
7.一种开始即时通信的方法,包括以下步骤:
接收一组e-mail地址;
确认与可用于实时通信的e-mail地址相关的屏幕名字;
发送一个用于即时通信的邀请;
得到可用于实时通信的屏幕名字;
将所述屏幕名字和所述e-mail地址相关联;以及
通过选择一个与所述屏幕名字相对应的的图标来建立所述实时通信。
8.如权利要求7所述的方法,进一步包括通过电子邮件发送一个进行即时通信的邀请的步骤。
9.一种在计算机用户之间启用即时通信的设备,包括:
一显示图形窗口的装置;
一在所述计算机的所述用户之间显示e-mail地址以进行在线通信的装置;
一显示和所述e-mail地址相关的屏幕名字以进行所述即时通信的装置;以及
所述图形窗口包括所述e-mail地址和在同一窗口中的所述屏幕名字以立刻启用所述计算机的所述用户间的所述即时通信。
10.如权利要求9所述的启用即时通信的设备,进一步包括在所述窗口内以图形指示每一所述屏幕名字用于即时消息传输的可用性的装置。
11.如权利要求10所述的启用即时通信的设备,其特征在于所述计算机的用户之间的所述即时通信通过激活所述图标来启用。
