Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to a side panel for a drawer, having an inner wall, an outer wall and a cover element on an upper edge between the inner wall and the outer wall, wherein the inner wall and/or the outer wall is made of a bent sheet metal material, wherein a channel for receiving a substrate is formed on the inner side of the side panel and a member for receiving a front plate and a rear wall is formed in the side panel.
Background
EP 3 496 570 B1 discloses a side panel for a drawer, wherein an inner shell and an outer shell are provided, between which a means for fastening a front or rear wall is provided. The cover element may be secured to the upper edge of the side panel. The visual design options for the surface of such side panels are limited.
For such side panels, it is known from WO 2018/033464 to design the upper cover strip in various visually attractive shapes. The inner and outer walls are made of bent sheet metal and are typically of a single color.
Disclosure of Invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a side panel for a drawer in which the surface can be designed to be optically variable.
This object is achieved by a side panel having the features of claim 1.
In the side panel according to the invention, the magnetic film is fixed to the inner wall and/or the outer wall, the upper edge of the magnetic film being at least partially covered by a covering element on the upper edge between the inner wall and the outer wall. Thus, the surface of the side panel may be designed separately using a magnetic film, whereby one edge of the surface, which is typically black, is at least partially covered by the covering element, such that the edge of the magnetic film is not visible.
Preferably, the upper edge of the magnetic film is completely covered by the covering element such that the cut edge or edges of the magnetic film are not visible. The outer side of the cover element may be flush with the front side of the magnetic film; optionally, the cover element may also cover an upper section of the magnetic film.
For a compact design, the inner wall and the outer wall can be aligned parallel to each other at least in the region below the cover element.
For effective attachment of the magnetic film, the inner wall and/or the outer wall may be made of a bent metal sheet. The inner wall and/or the outer wall is provided with a cover layer, which can be applied, for example, as a paint, powder coating or the like. Thus, the magnetic film may be applied directly or indirectly to the inner wall and/or the outer wall.
The magnetic film preferably has a thickness of between 0.3mm and 2.5mm, in particular between 0.8mm and 2mm, so that the magnetic film can bend and adapt to the contour of the inner wall and/or the outer wall. The magnetic film may cover the entire surface of the inner wall and/or the outer wall. Alternatively, only partial coverage may be provided. For particularly visually attractive designs, the magnetic film may be printed with, for example, a logo, symbol, or text.
Preferably, the magnetic film is flush with the lower edge of the outer wall over the entire length, thereby avoiding gaps. The magnetic film may also be flush with the upper edge of the channel along the length between the back wall and the front plate.
In a further embodiment, a cavity is formed between the inner wall and the outer wall, in which cavity a further functional element is arranged. For example, the means for fixing the front plate may be arranged in the cavity. Furthermore, means for fixing the rear wall may be accommodated in said cavity. A channel for receiving the substrate may be provided on the inside of the cavity, the channel extending from the inner wall to the inside of the outer wall or extending near the inside of the outer wall. The channel for receiving the substrate has a width of at least 60% of the distance between the inner wall and the outer wall in the region of the channel. The channels may be formed by the inner walls of the side panels. Alternatively, the channel may be formed by a substrate channel separate from the inner wall or by a plurality of separate substrate channel adapters.
The inner walls of the side panels are preferably aligned perpendicular to the base so that a maximum storage volume is achieved in the drawer. Another advantage of the vertical inner wall is that the internal tissue device is free to use, which does not have to accommodate any inclined surfaces. Attaching the magnetic film to the vertical inner wall has only a small effect on the interior of the drawer. The vertical inner wall also does not present an annoying visible edge on the edge of the magnetic film in the lower region of the inner wall.
The cover element may be fixed to the upper side of the side panel between the inner wall and the outer wall, for example via a strap on one or more holders arranged in the cavity between the inner wall and the outer wall. Alternatively, the inner wall and/or the outer wall may have a contour in the upper region to accommodate the covering element. Instead of being mechanically attached, the cover element may also be glued to the top or magnetically attached. Alternatively, the cover element may also be formed integrally with the inner wall and/or the outer wall. The inner wall is preferably aligned perpendicular to the base.
The cover element is preferably fixed to the upper side of the side panel as a separate part, wherein the cover element has a strap engaged in the side panel and/or the cover element is engaged around the upper region of the side panel. The cover element may have at least one downwardly facing web forming a region spaced from the side panels through which a portion of the magnetic film may be covered.
Preferably, the channel extends from the inner wall to the inner side of the outer wall or extends close to the inner side of the outer wall, the channel having a width of at least 60% of the distance between the inner wall and the outer wall in the region of the channel.
In yet another embodiment, the narrow face of the magnetic film at the front end of the side panel is covered by the front panel.
The side panels according to the invention are mounted in particular on drawers for furniture or household appliances, wherein in each case the side panels are mounted on opposite sides, thereby connecting the front panel to the rear wall.

Detailed Description
The drawer 1 comprises a base 2 surrounded at the edges by a front panel 3 and a rear wall 4 and two side panels 5. The side panels 5 connect the front panel 3 with the rear wall 4 and have an inner wall 6 arranged on the side of the base 2 and an outer wall 7 on the side facing away from the base 2. The inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7 are connected to each other at the upper edge by a strip-shaped covering element 8.
Figure 2 shows the side panel 5 in detail. The side panels 5 comprise grooves 13 on the inner wall 6 for receiving the plate-shaped substrate 2. Between the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7 a cavity 11 is formed in which a member for fixing the front plate 3 is arranged. In the rear region, a holder 12 for fixing the rear wall 4 is arranged in the cavity 11. The inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7 are each made of a bent sheet metal, but may optionally be formed integrally with each other.
The strip-shaped cover element 8 has, on the side facing the cavity 11, a web-shaped strip 9 for fixing the cover element 8 in place. For this purpose, a number of fastening elements 14 are provided in the cavity 11, on which fastening elements the strap 9 can be inserted.
A magnetic film 10 is fixed to the outer wall 7, which magnetic film is applied over the entire surface of the vertical wall section of the outer wall 7. Optionally, the magnetic film 10 may also have a smaller size than the vertical wall surface of the outer wall 7.
Fig. 3 shows the magnetic film 10 in detail. The magnetic film 10 has an adhesive side that can be attached to the inner wall 6 or the outer wall 7, and a decorative surface that can be colored or printed with, for example, symbols, marks, logos, or other elements.
Fig. 4 shows a cross-sectional view of the side panel 5 in an assembled position. It can be seen that the functional part is arranged in the cavity 11 between the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7. In particular, several fastening elements 14 for fixing the strips 9 of the strip-shaped covering element 8 are arranged in the upper region. In the assembled position, the cover element 8 covers the upper edge of the magnetic film 10. The magnetic film 10 may have a thickness of, for example, between 0.6mm and 2.5 mm. In particular, the magnetic film 10 is at least partially black or unprinted. The upper edge of the magnetic film 10 is at least partially, preferably completely, covered by the strip-shaped covering element 8. The lateral edges of the cover element 8 may be aligned flush with the surface of the magnetic film 10 in order to ensure a visually attractive appearance.
Fig. 5 shows a modified cover element 8' which, instead of having a flat upper edge, has a curvature 15 which extends from the outside of the magnetic film 10 to the inner wall 6. The geometry of the cover elements 8 and 8' can be flexibly designed on the upper side.
Fig. 6 shows a modified version of the side panel 5, wherein the magnetic film 10 is fixed to both the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7. The two upper edges of the magnetic film 10 are covered by a strip-shaped cover element 8 ". As in the previous embodiment, the cover element 8 "is fixed to the fastening element 14. The width of the cover elements 8, 8' and 8 "can be adapted to the thickness of the magnetic film 10.
Fig. 7 schematically shows a further embodiment, in which the magnetic film 10 is fixed to the outer wall 7 and the upper edge of the magnetic film 10 is covered by a modified covering element 18. The cover element 18 is strip-shaped and has a U-shaped cross-sectional profile. The cover element 18 may enclose the retention elements on the inner wall 6 and/or the outer wall 7. The cover element 18 is substantially flush with the inner side of the inner wall 6 and the surface of the magnetic film 10.
Fig. 8 shows a modified covering element 18' having a different cross-sectional profile and covering at the upper edge a magnetic film 10 fixed to the inner wall 6 of the side panel. However, the cover element 18' is not flush with the upper side of the magnetic film 10, but has a web 19 slightly covering the outer surface of the magnetic film 10 (e.g. between 0.5mm and 5 mm). The web 19 allows the magnetic film 10 to be slightly concave.
Fig. 9 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a side panel, wherein the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7 are formed integrally with each other from a bent sheet metal material. For this purpose, the cover element 28 is also formed integrally with the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7 on the upper side, so that on the side of the outer wall 7 there is a small projection which corresponds approximately to the thickness of the magnetic film 10, so that in the mounted position the upper edge of the magnetic film 10 is covered by this projection.
Fig. 10 shows a modified embodiment compared to fig. 9, wherein the magnetic film 10 is fixed to both the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7 of the side panel 5. In the mounted position, both magnetic films 10 are covered at their upper edges by a overhang of the cover element 28, which overhang is integrally formed with the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7. Each tab is formed by a bend in the sheet metal material.
Fig. 11 shows a modified design of the side panels, wherein the magnetic film 10 is attached only to the inner wall 6. The cover element 28 on the upper side is formed integrally with the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 7 and has a projection on the inner side which, in the mounted position, covers the upper edge of the magnetic film 10.
The above embodiments may be combined with each other as needed. The magnetic film 10 may be attached to the inner wall 6 and/or the outer wall 7 over the whole surface or only partly. If the magnetic film 10 covers only a part of the surface of the inner wall 6 or the outer wall 7, a receptacle for the magnetic film 10 can be formed such that the upper edge of the magnetic film 10 is covered by the cover element 8, 8', 8", 18 or 28 and the lower edge of the magnetic film 10 is also covered.
