Abstract

一个经改进的弓形扫描磁头装置与磁带传送线成一夹角。夹角、弓形扫描磁头装置的直径和磁头从弓形扫描磁头装置的磁头鼓端面凸出的尺寸的相对大小应使磁头在磁头鼓的一侧上面时与磁带可靠接触,当其在磁头鼓的另一侧上面时至多与磁带轻轻接触。最好是,在一侧可靠接触,在另一侧不接触;最好是,角度的大小可使磁头在接触一侧接触和脱离接触磁带时在磁带边沿留出一小段距离,以减轻或消除磁头压磁带边问题。另外,弓形扫描磁头装置可以是不倾斜的,但与其连用的盒式磁带可改成磁带成角度通过媒体存取孔传送。

Description

弓形扫描磁头装置及其盒式磁带
本发明涉及弓形扫描磁头装置,尤其涉及改进磁带-磁头界面的机构。
磁带驱动器传统一直在用固定磁头(常用在录音磁带和计算机数据磁带上)或垂直螺旋形扫描磁头(常用在录相象磁带,有时用在计算机数据磁带)。若是固定磁头(head),则磁头总是静止不动的,磁带从其旁直线通过。若是垂直螺旋形扫描磁头,则是单磁头或多磁头位于旋转磁头鼓(Cylinder)即磁鼓(drum)的外侧。磁带轻绕在磁头鼓上,从其侧面通过,磁头鼓倾斜一定角度,使每个磁头沿磁带的路径呈螺旋状,在这两种传统设计中,只是简单地靠磁带部分绕在磁头或磁鼓上,来保持磁头与磁带的接触。
近来,利用弓形扫描磁头装置(ASHA)制出了另一种驱动器,这种驱动器在PCT公布的申请书WO93/26005(詹姆斯U.莱姆基)中已有全面说明,在此不再赘述,像垂直螺旋形扫描驱动器一样,弓形扫描磁头装置(ASHA)20有装在磁头鼓22上的磁头21(见图1A、1B),该磁头鼓按箭磁头23所指方向旋转,但是,在弓形扫描磁头装置20上,磁头21装在磁头鼓22的端面24上,不是装在侧面26上,端面24位于与磁带28的平面平行的平面内。磁头21从磁头鼓22的端面24稍凸出来。因此,当磁带按箭头29所指方向从弓形扫描磁头装置旁通过时,磁头21就与磁带28接触上,磁头鼓22以高速,例如15000转/分转动,这样每个磁头21在磁带28上的路径就基本呈弓形,尽管只用一个磁头是可以的,但一般用多磁头更有利于提高磁带上的磁道密度,如附图所示为8磁头。
只要研究一下图1A,1B,就会觉察到,此设计的一个问题是,只靠把磁带28部分绕在弓形扫描磁头装置上是不能保持磁带28和弓形扫描磁头装置20之间的接触的,弓形扫描磁头装置的前侧30和后侧32上的磁头21都与磁晤带28接触,但却向相反方向运动,如果磁带28紧紧地绕在磁头21上,就会由于磁头的运动而产生扭转,由于现有技术设计上绕带并不实用,于是弓形扫描磁头装置20就包括一个真空管34,以便把磁带28向下拉到磁头21上。
采用这种结构,弓形扫描磁头装置与磁带28的接触如图1C所示。特别是真空管34在与弓形扫描磁头装置20中心相对应的位置36处把磁带强力向下拉,而磁头21则在分别与弓形扫描磁头装置的前侧30和后侧32的磁头21的路径相对应的位置38、40处向上推磁带,在这种结构中,磁头21在转动时就在位置44和46碰撞磁带28的边沿,这样,此设计的另一问题就是,对磁带边沿的这种碰撞会带来磁带28的高磨损。
本发明是使弓形扫描磁头装置相对于沿磁带中心轴的磁带平面倾斜微小角度β,根据磁头的角度和磁头从磁头鼓端面突出多少,决定磁头与磁头鼓的后侧磁带完全不接触或只轻微接触,这样就把后侧磁头和磁带之间的接触问题消除或大大减轻,另外,由于磁带不再受到因磁头在两个方向上从其旁通过产生的很大扭转力的作用,它就会轻轻地绕在前侧磁头上,改进磁头和磁带的接触,当然,缠绕的程度越大,β角就会更大,以免出现问题。
除消除或减小扭转问题外,使弓形扫描磁头装置倾斜角度也消除或减轻磁头碰撞磁带的问题,由于弓形扫描磁头装置倾斜一定角度,在其磁头鼓转动时,磁头就向上运动到磁带平面,然后再向下运动离开,利用足够大的β角,当磁头位于磁带边沿下面时,就不会在磁带平面上,所以就不会与之接触,当磁头向上移动到磁带平面时,磁头在距磁带边沿一段距离δ处开始接触,这样就完全消除了撞边问题。正如所看到的,距离δ随角β的增大而增长,相反地,若是β角很小,磁头就会正好擦边,,但上述问题就大大变小。这时就会看到,需要β角多大才能完全消除上述问题,将取决于磁带宽度、磁头鼓直径、磁头从磁头鼓端面突出多少。
本发明的选择实施例是让弓形扫描磁头装置不倾斜,但要改变盒式磁带传送磁带角度,这样磁带就不是相对弓形扫描磁头装置成直角地经过盒式磁带的媒体存取孔,而是成β角度,由于两个实例中的磁带和弓形扫描磁头装置的相对几何尺寸相同,所以改变盒式磁带内的磁带传送角的实际效果与改变弓形扫描磁头装置的角度实质相同,由于弓形扫描磁头装置可以与盒式磁带面垂直安装,那么改变磁带角度,而不改变弓形扫描磁头装置的角度,这对磁带驱动器来说,可使其设计更简单。
借助附图对本发明做进一步说明,附图中:
图1A是现有技术弓形扫描磁头装置及从其旁边通过的磁带的前视示意图。

参照图2A,2B,磁头鼓122,磁头121等的结构和功能与上述现有技术弓形扫描磁头装置20基本相同。与弓形扫描磁头装置20基本相同的各部件在图上以原附图标记加100标示,并在此不再详述,在此也应注意,磁头凸出和角β的绝对大小和由此引起的磁带变形在各图中做出明显夸张性表示,目的是清楚说明。
依照本发明,弓形扫描磁头装置120与先有技术的弓形扫描磁头装置20的不同点在于,本发明的弓形扫描磁头装置120相对磁带128平面倾斜一角度β,此角度β为弓形扫描磁头装置120的中心线和磁带128的垂直线之间的夹角β。很显然,角β、磁头鼓122的直径、以及磁头121从磁头鼓122的端面124凸出多少等值的相对大小,将会控制磁头121在弓形扫描磁头装置120的后面132上接触磁带128的程度,相对大小最好应使磁头121在其沿弓形扫描磁头装置120的后侧132返回路径上不接触磁带128,换句话说,相对大小可允许尽量减少接触,主要由于角度的原因,磁带128本身在弓形扫描磁头装置120的前侧130上轻绕在磁头121上。
图2C示出弓形扫描磁头装置120对磁带128的作用情况,具体是,当磁头121处在弓形扫描磁头装置120的前侧130时,就沿相应于磁头路径的路径150向上推磁带,在此优选实施例中,路径150并没有延伸到以磁带128的边沿,因此,它与路径38不同,当磁头鼓122转动时,每个磁头121先向上移动至磁带128的平面,然后再向下移动离开。在此过程中,磁头121是在距磁带128的边沿一段距离δ1处才开始接触磁带128,然后在距磁带128的另一边沿一段距离δ2处脱离接触,很显然,距离δ1和δ2的确切尺寸取决于角β、磁带128的宽度、磁头鼓122的直径和磁头121从磁头鼓端面124的凸出程度等量值的相对大小,另外明显的是,距离δ1和δ2的相对长短取决于磁带是否以磁头鼓122的中心线为中心位置,在大多数情况下,磁带最好在中心位置,使距离δ1和δ2基本相等。
图2C假设,磁头121、角β和磁头鼓122的直径等值的大小使得磁头121和磁带128在弓形扫描磁头装置120的后侧132处不接触。结果,沿弓形扫描磁头装置120的后侧132对应于使用先有技术弓形扫描磁头装置20情形时的路径40处的磁带没变形。如果上述值的大小使磁头121和磁带128之间保持尽量少的接触,那么这就会产生一个与路径40相似的路径。但是,由于磁头121移动至磁带128的平面,并离开,所以此路径也只能是靠近边沿接触部分磁带128形成的。
也要注意到,由于倾斜一定角度,图2C并没在真空管134周围显示出波纹。由于真空管134的末端并没有与磁带128接触,所以这种波纹就基本上消除了。实际上,尽管在图2A、2B上示出真空管134,利用本发明的弓形扫描磁头装置120把波纹完全消除是完全可能的。
作为本发明的一个具体例子,弓形扫描磁头装置的磁头鼓120的直径可为1.77±0.05厘米,磁头121可相对磁头鼓端面124凸出0.02±0.005毫米,由于这种结构,且假设位于弓形扫描磁头装置中心线上的磁头鼓端面安装于磁带128的平面上,那么,虽然2度左右的角能较好保证不接触,但2/3度的角也就足以使磁头121与磁头鼓122后侧132上的磁带128不接触。
图2D示出装有常规直线传送磁带128的盒式磁带160与前述倾斜的弓形扫描磁头装置的连用情况,在这种盒式磁带160中,导辊或导销162和164的一般安装方式是使磁带128成直线传送,通过盒式磁带160的媒体存取孔168。
第一实例中的弓形扫描磁头装置120的小角度倾斜,预计一般不会对装有该弓形扫描磁头装置120的传动装置155(在图2B中示意示出)的其它构件如安装机构产生影响,而对磁带-磁头的界面影响却很大。因此,本发明就不难用到先有的弓形扫描磁头装置驱动器设计上去。
图3示出的选择实施例可用在那些例如由于驱动器中的空间的原因,使弓形扫描磁头装置120倾斜有限角度有困难的情形。图3示出一个弓形扫描磁头装置按常规位置安装,其轴与盒式磁带170垂直,盒式磁带170包括普通基板172和正面174,规定基准面要靠近正面174和垂直于基板172(亦即接近正面和垂直于附图平面),以便相对驱动器基准面,对盒式磁带精确定位。然而,导销或导辊175与导销或导辊176相对偏移,致使磁带178的传送成角β,通过媒体存取孔179,其实际作用与第一实例相同-弓形扫描磁头装置20以倾斜角β接触磁带178。
要注意的是,由于图3所示几何尺寸的原因,弓形扫描磁头装置20的右侧如图所示与磁带176接触,与图2A至2D所示实施例相反,在图2A至图2D所示实施例中,弓形扫描磁头装置120的左侧如图所示与磁带128接触,可以理解,通过改变弓形扫描磁头装置120或磁带176的倾斜方向,对这两个实施例任何一个都可修改,使弓形扫描磁头装置的另一侧接触磁带。
可对上述本发明实施例做的各种改动或修改对本领域普通技术人员是显而易见的。例如,替换实例示出,可以通过改变导辊位置改变磁带传送角度。实现传送位置的其它方法,例如装设导板或改变磁带支撑的其它方面对本领域普通技术人员也是显而易见的。因此,本发明的范围只由所述权利要求进行限定。

Claims (10)

1.一种经改进的弓形扫描磁头装置,与沿传送线可动的磁带连用,该装置有一可绕一中心轴旋转并具有一磁头鼓端面的磁头鼓,和至少一个从磁头鼓端面靠近其外周缘处稍稍突出的磁头,其特征在于,磁头鼓绕其旋转的中心轴相对于磁带传送线的垂直线成角β,该角β小于90°。
2.如权利要求1所述的经改进的弓形扫描磁头装置,其特征在于,角β、磁头鼓的直径和上述至少一个磁头从磁头鼓端面凸出的尺寸的相对于大小应使至少一个磁头位于磁头鼓的第一侧时接触磁带,位于第一侧的对面的磁头鼓的第二侧时至多轻触磁带。
3.如权利要求1或2所述的经改进的弓形扫描磁头装置,其特征在于,角β、磁带宽度、磁头鼓的直径和至少一个磁头从磁头鼓端面凸出的尺寸的相对大小应使至少一个磁头在位于磁头鼓的第一侧距磁带边沿距离为δ1时接触磁带,在距磁带对面边沿距离为δ2时,则脱离接触。
4.如权利要求3所述的经改进的弓形扫描磁头装置,其特征在于,距离δ1和δ2基本相等,
5.用于权利要求1-4中的任意一项所述的磁头装置的盒式磁带,包括:
a.一个外壳,包括一个正面,一个正面上的磁头/媒体存取孔,一个基板,和一个靠近并基本平行于正面且基本垂直于基板的基准面;
b.装于外壳中的磁带,该磁带的一部分可被一磁头装置从外壳外侧经磁头/媒体存取孔接近;
c.导引装置,用于将通过磁头/媒体存取孔可接近的上述部分磁带,导引至一平面,该平面与基准面构成预定稳定的限定角度β并基本垂直于基板的平面。
6.如权利要求5所述的盒式磁带,其特征在于,导引装置包括位于媒体存取孔一侧的第一导向机构和位于媒体存取孔另一侧的第二导向机构,而此两导向机构之一比另一个离正面更远。
7.如权利要求6所述的盒式磁带,其特征在于,外壳有一靠近媒体存取孔的拐角,上述导向机构距该拐角的距离不同,离拐角更近的导向机构比距拐角更远的导向装置距正面更远。
8.如权利要求1-7中的任意一项所述的盒式磁带和磁头装置,其特征在于:该盒式磁带和磁头装置相对共同基准面定位;磁头装置通过媒体存取孔接触磁带处的磁带平面并不与基准面平行。
9.如权利要求1-8中的任意一项所述的盒式磁带,其特征在于,角β约小于2度。
10.如权利要求1-9中的任意一项所述的盒式磁带,角β约为2/3度。
