Abstract
The invention relates to an optical unit (10) for a motor vehicle, the optical unit (10) comprising a housing (12) closed by a cover glass (14), the housing (12) comprising a reflector, on which a shutter is fastened, the reflector comprising a positioning slot of the shutter, the shutter comprising a projection complementary to the positioning slot, the positioning slot being formed by two open cavities extending and oriented along two non-parallel axes.
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of lighting and signaling systems for motor vehicles, and more particularly to the assembly of optical units equipped to motor vehicles.
Background
An optical unit for a motor vehicle is known, which comprises a housing with a peripheral edge supporting an outer cover glass, which housing comprises a light source, a reflector, and a screen arranged between the reflector and the cover glass.
In such known optical units, the shield is usually fixed to the reflector in a screw-fastened manner, and when assembled, the shield should therefore be positioned accurately before being fastened with screws. Such positioning is often difficult for the operator performing the assembly, which can cause serious installation irregularities of the optical units with respect to each other on the same assembly line.
Disclosure of Invention
The present invention aims to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art, and more particularly to solve the above-mentioned problems, by proposing an optical unit that optimizes the assembly, in particular by allowing a simple and repeatable positioning of the shutter on the reflector.
To this end, the invention relates to an optical unit for a motor vehicle, comprising a housing closed by a cover glass, the housing comprising a reflector to which a shutter is fastened, the reflector comprising a positioning slot of the shutter, the shutter comprising a projection complementary to the positioning slot, the positioning slot being formed by two cavities of the opening, the two cavities extending and being oriented along two non-parallel axes.
Thus, by providing the reflector with a positioning slot comprising two cavities oriented in different directions, positioning of the shield in two intersecting directions is ensured. Insertion of the tab on the shield in the detent allows positioning in a third direction that intersects the first two directions. The invention thus allows positioning the shutter on the reflector in a simple, quick and repeatable manner when assembling the optical unit.
In an embodiment, the two cavities are contiguous.
In an embodiment, the opening of the cavity is oriented to: when the optical unit is assembled, the projection provided on the shutter is inserted into the slot according to a movement parallel to the longitudinal axis of the optical unit, which corresponds to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle in which the optical unit is mounted.
In an embodiment, the included angle between the axes in which the cavities are oriented is greater than 90 ° and less than 170 °.
In an embodiment, the depth of the positioning groove is comprised between 0.5 and 5 mm and is for example equal to 1 mm.
In an embodiment, the shield is fastened to the reflector by means of a fastening element, such as a screw.
In an embodiment, the shield comprises a translucent first material and an opaque second material, the shield being obtained by moulding, the first and second materials being injected.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle equipped with at least one optical unit as defined above.
Drawings
The invention will be better understood from a reading of the following detailed description with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
fig. 1 shows a rear view of a vehicle equipped with an optical unit according to the invention;
FIG. 1a is a detailed view of FIG. 1 showing one of the optical units mounted in the rear of an automobile;
FIG. 2 shows a side view of the optical unit of FIG. 1 a;
FIG. 3 shows a reflector included in the optical unit of FIG. 2;
FIGS. 4a and 4b are detailed views of the reflector of FIG. 3, without and with the shutters positioned on the reflector, respectively, the shutters being partially shown on FIG. 4b 11;
fig. 5 is a cross-sectional view of the reflector of fig. 3 with the shield in an upper portion.
Detailed Description
It should be noted that in the following description, the terms "longitudinal", "vertical", "transverse" are used for the three-dimensional frame of reference X, Y, Z identified in the figures. It should also be noted that the longitudinal direction, the vertical direction and the lateral direction are flush with the respective directions of the vehicle in which the optical unit according to the invention is mounted. Also, the terms "lower" and "upper" are defined with respect to the mounting location of the optical unit on the vehicle.
Fig. 1 shows a motor vehicle 1 equipped with two optical units 10, 11. Fig. 1a is a detailed view of the optical unit 10 mounted at the rear of the vehicle 1. Such an optical unit includes a plurality of translucent regions 10a, 10b, 10c and a plurality of opaque regions 10d interposed between the translucent regions. In order to obtain such a visual appearance, it is necessary to provide a shutter within the optical unit, such shutter comprising a portion made of a translucent material and a portion made of an opaque material.
As shown in fig. 2, the optical unit 10 includes a housing 12, and a cover glass 14 is fastened to the housing 12. Preferably, the housing 12 is integrally molded based on a material comprising a thermoplastic polymer such as an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (more often indicated by the abbreviation ABS).
The housing 12 comprises a light source (not shown in the figures), in the example a plurality of light emitting diodes, and at least one reflector 16 shown in fig. 3. To allow positioning of the shield 18 (seen in particular in fig. 5), the reflector 16 comprises a positioning slot 160 of the shield 18, in the example the positioning slot 160 is provided in an upper part of the reflector 16. The detent 160 includes two cavities 162,164 extending and oriented along two intersecting axes. In the example, the cavities 162,164 meet and communicate with each other (the two cavities share a common end), however, the two cavities may be separated within the scope of the invention.
The detents 160 are configured to mate with complementarily shaped protrusions 180 provided on the shield 18. Thus, as shown in fig. 4b and 5, the shield 18 is positioned by a form fit between the protrusion 180 and the detent 160 (note that the shield 18 is partially shown in fig. 4b to illustrate the fit between the protrusion 180 and the detent 160). The configuration of the detent 160 including two cavities extending in two different directions allows the shield 18 to be positioned in three directions, longitudinal, transverse and vertical. Thus, positioning and mounting of the shield 18 on the reflector 16 is facilitated. Advantageously, the cavity forming the positioning slot has an opening oriented along a longitudinal axis of the optical unit (which axis corresponds to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle when the optical unit is mounted on the vehicle). Thus, when the shield 18 is installed, the reflector 16 is turned 90 ° relative to its normal operating position, and the shield 18 can be inserted under its own weight into the bottom of the detent.
