The method forms the matching of the tobacco shreds with different widths by adjusting the widths of the tobacco shreds, and obviously reduces the release amount of CO in the mainstream smoke of the cigarettes. Compared with the method of adding three threads or other additives, the method can reduce the CO release amount, simultaneously can keep the stability of the tobacco thread formula and the smoking taste, is simple and easy to implement, is easy to apply in large scale, and has higher economic value and social benefit.

Background
A plurality of harmful components exist in the mainstream smoke of the cigarette, and CO is one of the most harmful components which are most contained and difficult to remove. The inventor finds that when the width of the auxiliary tobacco shred is more than 1.5 times, the compatibility between the main tobacco shred and the auxiliary tobacco shred is poor, the phenomenon of structure separation is easy to occur, the cigarette weight fluctuation is increased, and the rejection rate is obviously increased.
Preferably, the mass ratio of the main cut tobacco to the auxiliary cut tobacco is 60-99: 1-40, preferably 80-90: 10 to 20. After the proportion of the auxiliary tobacco shreds exceeds 40%, the cigarette weight is reduced due to the higher filling capacity of the wide tobacco shreds, and meanwhile, the end parts of the cigarettes become loose and the tobacco shreds are easy to drop.
Preferably, the cigarette is a cigarette without a 'three-shred' tobacco shred formula.
