Abstract
一种承托一组货物如饮料瓶的基本透明的托板,由包括化学阻隔剂在内的可塑材料制成。托板上包括一个机读条形码。每种货物上均匀包括单个起码被托板遮盖了一部分的机读条形码。化学阻隔剂通过反射或吸收的方式,能阻隔其狭窄波长被“调谐”或被选择的光线以防止货物上的单个条形码被典型的识读器光束识读,同时,使得托板上的条形码被识读。
Description
本发明总的来说涉及一组货物如饮料瓶的塑料托板,具体来说,涉及一种把货物组合起来并防止单件货物各自的条形码被典型的激光条形码识读器光束所识读的基本上透明的塑料托板。
条形码广泛用于各种货物,以便有关该货物的信息如价格之类,能通过条形码识读器光束扫描条形码而得以快捷方便地识读。当条形码被扫描时,条形码数字就输入电脑中由其检索货物所含信息。
当为销售起见而将货物组合成套时,每件货物往往都有各自的机读条形码,而成套货物还需另加一个与整套货物价格对应的条形码。
在有一基本透明托板即美国专利第4,219,117号或美国专利第4,557,375号所示带型托板的那种成套货物中,当为了点清价格而扫描成套货物时,所能扫描者是单件货物的条形码而非整套货物本身的条形码。假如与单件货物对应的信息被检索了,且成套货物的购买者仅按单件价格而非成套价格付款,销售者就要蒙受很大损失。
本发明意图即在于解决这些问题,或将其化解到最低限。
本发明总的目的是提供一种成套货物如饮料瓶所用的托板。
本发明的另一个目的是,是提供一种包绕着货物并防止每件货物上各自的条形码被典型的激光条形码识读器光束所识读的透明托板。
简言之,与上述目的一致,本发明公开一种承托一组货物如饮料瓶的基本透明的托板。该托板由其中含有化学阻隔剂的可塑材料制成,且成套货物本身也可包括一个机读条形码。每一单件货物上均有起码一部份被托板遮盖的机读条形码。化学阻隔剂被“调谐”得能以反射或吸收的方式,阻碍典型的条形码识读器具有狭窄波长带的光线,即氦/氖条形码识读器发出的约为630毫微米波长和技术较新的固态激光条形码识读器发出的约为670毫微米波长的光线,同时,又使得托板上的条形码被识读。
本发明的结构组织与操作方式,连同其别的目的及优点,可参照以下叙述及附图,得以透彻理解,图中同样的标号表示同样的部件,其中:
图1是由符合本发明的一块托板连在一起的一组瓶子的透视图;
图2是标示一个典型的固态激光条形码识读器的波长与托板光密度的关系曲线图。
尽管对本发明可以采用不同方式的实施例,但图纸所示及通过理解本说明书而得以详述的特定实施例,被认为是本发明各项原则的一个示范,且它无意把本发明限制在图示及此处描述的范围内。
如图1所示,一些物品例如瓶子20由一块托板围住并排组在一起。图1所示物品20是典型的饮料瓶,每个瓶子包括具有外表面的筒状侧壁26、瓶盖28及瓶底30。侧壁26的外表面上为了美观或产品识别之故饰以图形或文字32。
每个物品20的外表面上均印有机读条形码34,每一单个物品20的条形码34使得该物品20被条形码识读器(未显示)扫描识别。当条形码识读器扫描物品20上的条形码34时,一些有关单个物品20的信息例如其价格,就被条形码识别器附带的电脑检索。
托板24把各件物品20排组在一起便于一组物品20以成套货物22出售。成套货物22上可有一个机读条形码38,或可把机读条形码即在托板24上,使得条形码识读器的光束扫描条形码38时,成套货物的信息例如货物组20的价格得到检索。条形码38可即在成套货物22外面或托板24上,或以适当方式如粘贴而附在成套货物22或托板24上。
当今所用典型的条形码扫描器或识读器(未显示),是以约630毫微米的波长发光而扫描识读物品条形码的氦/氖激光条形码识读器光束。技术较新的固态激光条形码识读器,则以约670毫微米的波长发光。
本发明中的托板,实质上是透明的,它由适用的塑料例如低密度至中密度的聚乙烯制成。塑料包括使托板24的塑料在分子水平上更换以改变其光密度的化学阻隔剂例如“染料”。例如,光谱科学公司(Spectra Science Corporation)的#1043染料,就可用作化学阻隔剂。本发明所用化学阻隔剂的用量,是会吸收或反射典型的固态激光条形码识读器光束所发波长为约660至680毫微米的光线所用有效用量。这个有效用量足以吸收或者反射识读器的光束,从而识读器就不会识读瓶子20上起码有一部份是被托板遮盖的条形码34。如图2曲线图所示,当本发明预期的那种染料包括进去时,由于反射或吸收,光密度就会有选择地阻隔波长为约660至680毫微米的光线,而此种波长几乎正是固态激光识读光束发出的波长。
本发明的托板基本是透明的,从而不会使瓶子20上的图形或文字32模糊难认。由于使用使可塑材料在分子水平变更的染料,而非那些其构成粒子扩散在塑料中的颜料,要改变材料的光密度,塑料实质上的透明也不会变更。当云母或金属氧化物这类粒子在托板中扩散时,即兼顾到透明这一要求。
如图1所示,托板24由若干包绕着每一单个瓶子20并与每个瓶子20沿其侧壁26而接触的长条板25组成。这些长条板在27处结为一体。为了防止条形码识读器光束识读单个瓶子20上的条形码34,本发明的托板24沿着侧壁26所处的位置起码部份地遮盖每一单个瓶子20上的每个条形码34。托板24完全遮盖各单个瓶子20上的条形码34,属于本发明范围以内。
当激光识读器光束扫描成套货物时,托板所用材料会吸收或反射激光识读器发出的光线。这样,识读器就不能识读各单个瓶子20上被遮盖的条形码34。
图1所示物品20为典型的饮料瓶,但要明白,其他类型的物品如箱子盒子之类的也可用托板24来组合、包绕。另外,如图1所示,托板24是包绕每个瓶子20的一连串长条板。要明白,托板24可有各种不同形式,例如适宜把物品整个包住的一层塑料。
尽管本发明的推荐实施例已作图示和叙述,不难想象本专业技术人员在不偏离随本发明的精神和范围的情况下,可对本发明加以各种修改。
Claims (9)
1.一块承托一组货物的托板,每件货物上包括单个机读条形码,该托板由其中包括有效用量化学阻隔剂以阻隔狭窄波长光线的可塑材料构成,该托板实质上是透明的并围着该货物延伸而形成一套货物,从而上述各单个机读条形码起码有一部份,被该托板遮盖。
2.如权利要求1所述的托板,其特征在于:所述光线被上述吸收该光线的化学阻隔剂阻隔。
3.如权利要求1所述的托板,其特征在于:所述光线被上述反射该光线的化学阻隔剂阻隔。
4.如权利要求1所述的托板,其特征在于:所述托板上包括一个机读条形码。
5.如权利要求1所述的托板,其特征在于:所述透明的可塑材料是聚乙烯。
6.如权利要求1所述的托板,其特征在于:所述化学阻隔剂是一种在分子水平上更动可塑材料并把与条形码识读器带状宽度一致而被传送的窄带宽度光线加以阻隔的染料。
7.如权利要求1所述的托板,其特征在于:所述成套货物上也包括一个单独的机读条形码。
8.如权利要求1所述的托板,其特征在于:所述托板是一条包括一些夹紧一件件货物的结合部的长带型托板。
9.承托一组货物的托板,每件货物上包括单个机读条形码,该托板由其中包括有效用量化学阻隔剂以阻隔波长范围在约660至680微毫米光线的可塑材料构成,该托板实质上是透明的并围着该货物延伸而形成一套货物,从而上述各单个机读条形码起码有一部份被该托板遮盖。
