Description

Device for producing filter rods for the tobacco processing industry
Technical Field
The invention relates to a device for producing filter rods of the tobacco processing industry from filter material, comprising a transport nozzle that can be acted upon by compressed air and a guide device that is arranged downstream of the transport nozzle in the direction of transport of the filter material, wherein the filter material can be guided or guided by the transport nozzle and the guide device.
Background
The invention therefore relates to the field of filter production, in particular the production of filters with inserted additional elements or objects, for example capsules filled with liquid. Such capsules are crushed by the user prior to use of the cigarette and impart additional flavor when the cigarette is smoked. However, it is also possible to put other additional elements or objects into the filter, such as activated carbon bodies, granules, etc.
The most common method for inserting additional elements into filter strips, in particular filter strips made of cellulose acetate, consists in that the additional elements are held in object holders loaded with suction air on the circumference of an insertion wheel and enter the filter strips with the circumference of the insertion wheel during the rotation of the insertion wheel. The suction air is cut off at the location of the passage in the filter rod and the object remains in the filter rod. The filter rod has a U-shaped cross section at the transition point in order to be able to insert objects into the filter rod reliably and with little load.
An object insertion device is known, for example, from EP 2502510 a 1.
In order to obtain the desired U-shape of the filter rods or filter material strips, the filter material strips, in particular the filament strips, are conveyed by means of a conveying nozzle with an excess of compressed air. The transport nozzles are also used, in addition to the driven transport, for pleating the previously spread filter material web into strips having a low density. This still relatively soft strip is then introduced into a thread guide device which is introduced by a catheter having an internally arranged longitudinally extending mandrel or spreader mandrel, also referred to as a plow. The combination of the spreader mandrel and the tube arranged around it serves to wind the loose filter rod around the mandrel in the tube and the filter rod thus assumes the necessary U-shape, into which it can then be placed an object from above.
EP 2772146B 1 also discloses a device for producing filter rods for the tobacco processing industry, in which a guide channel is arranged at the outlet of the conveying nozzle, the cross section of which matches the cross section of the conveying nozzle on the inlet side in the conveying direction of the filter rod and is substantially rectangular on the outlet side.
When objects are inserted into the filter thread strands, a certain axial position fluctuation occurs, which is caused in particular by the oscillating movement of the filter threads during the transport thereof.
Furthermore, the handling of the corresponding device for producing filter strips is difficult, since it is difficult to introduce the filter filament material into the duct, in particular to introduce said material uniformly into the duct.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the invention is to simplify the handling of the device for producing filter rods and preferably also to improve the tolerances of the axial position of the objects.
This object is achieved by a device for producing filter rods of the tobacco processing industry from filter material, comprising a transport nozzle which can be acted upon by compressed air and a guide device which is arranged downstream of the transport nozzle in the direction of transport of the filter material, wherein the filter material can be guided or guided by the transport nozzle and the guide device, wherein the device is improved in that: the guiding means comprises a duct having an inlet and an outlet for filter material, wherein a filter material lead-through slot is provided, which extends from the inlet to the outlet of the duct.
It has surprisingly been found that by the provision of a filter material lead-through slot extending from the inlet to the outlet of the duct, not only is a simplified operability and a reliable penetration of the filter material achieved, but also tolerances are improved when placing objects into the filter material. This is due to the following situation, namely: the filter material, in particular the filter filaments, which pulsate during transport, pulsates less because of the arrangement of the filter material feed slots, since said filter material feed slots represent an air outflow possibility for the transport air which is fed into the duct by the transport nozzles. The transport of the filter filament material or filter material is thereby significantly slowed down, so that a more precise insertion of objects can be achieved.
Preferably, the conduit has a longitudinal axis, wherein the filter material passage slots are oriented parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. In this way, the filter material can be threaded into the line particularly easily.
Particularly small tolerances, i.e. particularly high insertion accuracy, for inserting objects into the filter material can be achieved if either the duct has a cross section that remains the same or the cross section decreases in the direction of transport of the filter material.
It is particularly preferred that the catheter is of two-part construction, wherein the second body portion of the catheter is positionally fixed relative to the inlet tongue of the sizing device arranged downstream of the catheter. Preferably there is provided a first body portion of the conduit, the vertical spacing of which relative to the second body portion can be varied. In particular, the height position of the first body part relative to the second body part can be varied. The cross section of the duct can thereby be adapted to the amount of filter material or to the type of filter material, for example to the type of filaments. The inlet tongue is preferably part of a format device in which filter strips shaped in a predefinable manner are formed from the filter material. In particular the inlet tongue is part of the upper gauge of the gauge. The second body portion of the conduit is preferably releasably connectable with the upper portion of the inlet tongue, for example by a threaded connection.
Preferably the position of the first body portion is displaceable or adjustable together with the position of the outlet of the delivery nozzle. If, for example, the height of the delivery nozzle, to which the air outlet funnel arranged adjacent to the inlet of the conduit also belongs, is changed in height, the corresponding height of the first body part can be adapted to this height. For example, the inlet edge of the first body part, which is arranged below at the inlet of the duct, and the outlet of the air outlet funnel of the delivery nozzle can be aligned with one another in such a way that the filter material is reliably guided by this inlet edge, in particular in contact with the inlet edge.
Preferably the depth of the opening of the filter material through the slot remains constant as the height of the first body portion of the duct is adjusted. This is achieved in that: the depth of the groove remains constant, so that on the one hand it is ensured that the filter material can always be passed through with equal ease and on the other hand the filter material from the line does not come out of the filter material passage groove during operation.
In order to further prevent the filter material from exiting the filter material feed-through slot, the filter material in the filter tube is preferably guided in a forced manner in the lower region, for example by a corresponding arrangement of the guide tube relative to the format device and the air outlet funnel of the delivery nozzle.
Preferably, the conduit has at least one air outlet, in particular a lateral air outlet, in the first body part and/or the second body part. The air outlet provided there is in particular an air outlet which is attached to the filter material feed-through groove. Preferably, longitudinally axially arranged air slots can also be provided as air outlets. For example, one air outlet slot can be arranged on each side of the first body part and two air outlet slots can be arranged in the lower region. Other numbers of air outlet slits can also be provided, depending on the necessary amount of air to be discharged. Furthermore, the width and length of the air outlet slot can preferably also be predefined. Preferably, the at least one air outlet slit has a width which remains the same.
Preferably, the duct has an opening on the upper side for receiving a shaping element, wherein the shaping element is designed to form a receiving groove for introducing objects into the filter material. In particular, the shaping element can be referred to as a spreading mandrel or filament spreading mandrel or plow (Pflug). The shaping element spreads the filter material such that a receiving recess is formed for placing an object into the filter material.
Preferably, the duct has a smooth surface at the inlet at least in part to reduce resistance to the filter material as it is transported along the duct. The smooth surface is preferably a polished surface or a surface coated with a friction-reducing layer.
Preferably, the duct has a rounded inlet edge at the inlet, through which the filter material is moved in a contacting manner, in particular during transport.
Preferably the cross-sectional shape of the conduit is rectangular or square. Preferably, the edges are rounded here.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 schematically shows a part of an apparatus for producing a filter rod 10 in three dimensions. The filter material 41 can be, for example, a filter thread, which is supplied in a conventional preprocessing step to the delivery nozzle 11, in which the filter thread material 41 is guided with compressed air via an air outlet funnel 11a belonging to the delivery nozzle 11 to the guide tube 12, from which the filter material 41 is supplied to the format device 23 for subsequent shaping into filter rods 40 in the format device 23, only a small part of which is shown. For example, in the format device 23, a wrapping material is wound around the filter material 41 and a round or oval filter strip 40 is produced, which can then be cut to length by a conventional knife device to filter rods of a predetermined length.
The format device 23 has a lower format part 18, of which only a part is shown in fig. 1, and an entry tongue 17, which has a recess 33 for receiving a placement wheel, not shown. The insertion wheel is used to introduce objects, such as, for example, capsules containing liquid, into the filter rod 40. In order that this process can be carried out safely and without damaging the object or capsule to be inserted, the filter material is preformed into a U-shape or V-shape by a shaping element 30, for example a spreader mandrel, in order to provide a place for inserting the object into the filter material 41.
The inventive solution according to the invention now provides that a filter material feed-through slot 16 is provided in the conduit 12 directly adjoining the air outlet funnel 11a of the delivery nozzle 11, in order to be able to introduce the filter material very quickly, reliably and orderly, on the one hand, when the device is put into operation, and on the other hand, to provide an air outlet possibility precisely at this location, so that the filter material is transported through said conduit 12 with, for example, small vibrations in height. It has been found that by means of this measure according to the invention, the filter material pulsates considerably less, so that objects can be inserted into the filter rod 40 more precisely. The filter material lead-through slots 16 extend from the inlet 14 to the outlet 15 of the duct 12. In fig. 2 and 3, the catheter 12 is again shown in detail in three-dimensional views from different viewing directions.
The catheter 12 comprises two body portions, a first body portion 21 and a second body portion 22. The second body part 22 represents in this embodiment the upper side 27 and a part of the side of the conduit 12 and comprises a holding device 35, which in this case has two slots for receiving screw means by means of which a fixed connection can be made, for example, with the inlet tongue 17, as shown in fig. 1.
Furthermore, two guide slits 34 are provided, which are formed in the shape of a long slot, in order to enable a height adjustment of the first body part 21 relative to the second body part 22.
The filter material feed-through slots 16 are formed parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis 19 of the guide tube 12. Furthermore, the filter material feed-through groove 16 is formed in the upper region by an angular bend of the side of the first body part 21 in the direction of introduction of the filter material in a conically tapering configuration. Furthermore, air outlets 25 are provided in the duct 12, which air outlets are formed in the form of slits, in order to be able to discharge air even more easily or even more, so that the filter material 41 is still less pulsated when it is conveyed.
Even when the first body part 21 is adjusted in height relative to the second body part 22, the opening depth 24, that is to say the distance of the first body part 21 relative to the second body part 22, is constant or substantially constant in the region, in particular below, of the filter material through-going groove 16.
Furthermore, an opening 26 is provided in said second body part 22 for receiving a shaping element 30. In addition, this opening 26 may also be used to vent air from the conduit 12. At the inlet 14 of the duct 12 an inlet edge 31 is provided along which the filter material 41 moves. This inlet edge 31 is preferably rounded or chamfered.
As already mentioned, the height of the delivery nozzle 11 or air outlet funnel 11a can be varied, just like the first body portion 21 of the conduit 12. Furthermore, the height of the lower gauge 18 can also be varied in order to be able to achieve a quantity of filter material or to adapt it to the filter diameter or the type of thread. Furthermore, the adjusting slide 32 serves to adjust the outlet cross section of the air outlet funnel 11 a.
The present invention can reduce the number of defective products caused by the wrong position of the added object by more than half when manufacturing a long filtering filament filled with the object.
Preferably, the air gap is so narrow that no filter material can escape. Furthermore, only a few components are required for realizing the catheter 12, which saves the cost of the device.
All the mentioned features (which can be taken only from the drawings) and the individual features disclosed in combination with the other features are regarded individually and in combination as features which are essential to the invention. The embodiments according to the invention can be realized by individual features or combinations of features.
