The invention discloses a deodorant and a preparation method thereof, wherein the formula of the deodorant is as follows: 20-35 parts of zinc powder, 5-25 parts of plant polyphenol, 3-15 parts of organic acid, 15-45 parts of organic solvent, 3-8 parts of surfactant, 3-5 parts of inorganic salt and 2-4 parts of stabilizer, wherein the zinc powder and the organic acid form organic acid salt or organic acid chelate of zinc, and the ratio of the organic acid salt or organic acid chelate of zinc to the plant polyphenol is 0.1: 1-10: 1. the invention improves the advantages of safety and environmental protection in the preparation process of the deodorant, the pH value of the zinc salt solution is slightly reduced by combining the organic acid salt or the organic acid chelate of zinc and the plant polyphenol, and meanwhile, polyhydroxy in the plant polyphenol can further form hydrogen bonds with zinc ions, thereby improving the transparency and stability of the zinc salt.
