Description

Protective helmet with earpieces
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a protective helmet for a vehicle driver, which improves the spatial perception of the user.
Background
US6347412 discloses a device for diverting sound from a user's generally rearward direction to the user's ear. The device comprises a sound reflector which can be used directly by the user or can be connected to a separate support, such as a helmet. The connection between the sound reflector and the helmet may be fixed or adjustable. When a helmet support is used, the device may include a spacer located between the two sound reflectors. The separator directs sound to each of the two reflectors. The addition of the damping cushion helps the sound reflector to displace air around the user's ear to reduce wind sounds and increase the user's ability to hear sounds originating from the rearward direction.
Japanese patent JP2010047886 relates to a helmet comprising apertures for eliminating the sealed state of the helmet, a wind noise suppressor covering the respective apertures to prevent the formation of turbulences and an auditory normalization means for preventing the generation of wind related noise.
US patent US3797040 discloses a protective helmet for use by motorcyclists and comprises a manually controlled pair of ear caps or ear caps mounted for forcing the hearing port to be positioned in line with the user's ears. When the tabs are fully opened, they remain in this position until they are intentionally closed by the user. Each door or ear cap includes a rubber gasket to provide an airtight seal when the motorcycle is in motion.
US3021526 mentions a helmet comprising ear muffs and means mounted on the ear muffs for supporting an ear cushion on each of the hoods, wherein each means comprises a series of concentrically arranged, rectangular cross-section, substantially rigid, telescoping rings of gradually decreasing diameter. Each successive loop is dimensioned to permit substantial lateral movement relative to the next larger adjacent loop when the loop is fully collapsed within the larger loop. Further, the housing includes: a diaphragm connecting successive rings, the diaphragm being attached to an inner edge of a ring and an outer edge of a next adjacent ring; and means for securing the ear cushion to the innermost loop.
Chinese patent CN2172578 refers to a prismatic hearing helmet comprising a protruding rim, a hearing orifice and a hearing hood. The prismatic helmet has high durability and ensures safe driving; it can be used by motorcyclists and by the drivers of several uncovered motor vehicles.
Disclosure of Invention
The inventors have recognized that there is a need in the art for a helmet for a driver of an uncovered vehicle that increases the driver's spatial perception of the location and distance of the environment, thereby reducing the risk of vehicle accidents.
The present inventors provide a protective helmet comprising an inner structure and an outer structure that reproduce the acoustic shape of the human ear, avoiding a reduction in perception when driving a vehicle. These structures are arranged perpendicular to the ear canal of each ear of the user, allowing the driver to be aware of the audible frequencies of the environment. In addition, the protective helmet of the present invention may utilize noise filters and fabrics that reduce turbulence, thereby reproducing the acoustic performance of the human ear.

Fig. 6 shows a perspective view of the outside of an ear element as part of the outer structure of a helmet of the present invention.
Figure 7 shows a perspective view of the inner face of an ear element as part of the outer structure of a helmet of the present invention.
Detailed Description
The helmet of the present invention comprises a shell 1 and an inner structure 3 and an outer structure 2 located on each of the sides of the shell 1 where the ears of a user are normally located. These structures reproduce the acoustic form of the human ear. The helmet also comprises a viewing aperture in the shell 1.
The inner structure 3 is arranged inside the helmet, while the outer structure 2 is arranged outside the helmet, and both are coupled with the shell 1. Both the internal structure 2 and the external structure 3 comprise hearing holes which, when said structures are coupled to the casing 1, are aligned with the hearing holes of the casing 1, allowing the entry of sound from the outside.
In particular, the inner structure 3 may comprise an ear pad 4 and a conical element 5.
The outer structure 2 may comprise ear elements 8 and optional padding 9.
The conical member 5 may comprise a coupling horn 10 coupled with the ear pad 4. The ear pad 4, the horn 10 and the cone 5 coupled to the ear pad each comprise a hearing hole. These hearing holes are aligned when the inner structure 3 and the outer structure 2 are assembled to the housing 1.
In particular, the horn 10 is inserted in the hearing hole 13 of the ear pad 4 to couple said ear pad 4 to the conical member 5.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the conical element 5 and the trumpet 10 are made of a malleable material, which makes it possible to deform the trumpet 10 to insert it into the hearing hole 13 of the ear pad 4. Preferably, the malleable material may be silicone.
The ear shaped element 8 comprises a hearing hole which, when engaged with the ear pad 4, the coupling horn 10 coupled to the ear pad 4, the cone 5 and the housing 1, is aligned with the hearing port of the ear pad 4, the coupling horn 10 coupled to the ear pad 4, the cone 5 and the housing 1.
The ear-shaped element 8 may comprise a retaining structure 11 on its inner face. Conical member 5 may include attachment holes 15 for receiving fastening structure 11. Also, the housing 1 may include a coupling hole 12, and the fastening structure 11 of the ear member 8 passes through the coupling hole 12, thereby coupling both the conical piece 5 and the ear member 8 to the housing 1.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the filter 6 may be arranged in the hearing hole 16 of the cone 5.
Furthermore, a piece of fabric 7 can be inserted into the hearing holes 14 of the shell 1 and the hearing holes 17 of the ear-shaped elements 8, which piece of fabric is also adhered to the hearing holes 16 of the cone-shaped element 5. Optionally, the fabric member is adhered to the conical member 5 over the filter 6.
The outer structure 2 may comprise a cushion 9 on the ear-shaped element 8 to protect the ear-shaped element from rain and external elements. The padding 9 can be fixed to the wall of the interior of the ear-shaped element 8, for example by means of an adhesive.
All hearing holes 13, 14, 16 and 17 are aligned and arranged perpendicular to the ear canal of the user.
The sound signal enters through the outer structure 2 and is acoustically transformed to the conical member 5. The horn 10 then transmits the sound to the user's ear, also producing a lock of the signal. Thus, the ear adapts to psychoacoustic perception and perceives the relative position and distance of the sound source. Due to the size of the cone attached to the user's ear, the perception of audible and directional frequencies may be increased, which makes the perception of position and distance easier for the user.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the ear pad 4 may be made of artificial leather, the filter 6 may be made of windproof foam, the fabric member 7 may be plush, the case 1 may be made of polycarbonate, the ear-shaped member 8 may be made of silicone, and the liner 9 may be made of heat-and ultraviolet-resistant fabric. However, this list is not limiting and similar materials may be employed.
