Abstract
一种显示面板,具有一显示区和一周边区邻近于显示区设置,显示面板包括一像素矩阵、多个栅极线、多个第一走线以及一第一栅极驱动电路。像素矩阵位于显示区中。栅极线耦接至像素矩阵。第一走线接至像素矩阵。第一栅极驱动电路位于周边区中,且透过至少部分第一走线和至少多个栅极线耦接至像素矩阵。在显示区中,栅极线沿一第一方向延伸,第一走线沿一第二方向延伸,且第一方向和第二方向不同。

技术领域
本发明是关于一种显示面板,特别是一种适用于窄边框或者无边框的显示面板的驱动电路设计。
背景技术
在一般显示器中,驱动电路为重要的驱动元件。但目前的驱动元件都是设置在基板两侧的边框区,会占据面板两侧的边框空间,让边框具有相当的宽度,而不利于窄边框、极窄边框或无边框的显示器设计。
为了解决此问题,本发明提出一种显示面板的驱动电路设计,适用于窄边框、极窄边框或无边框的显示面板,并且可为各栅极线提供驱动能力相近的栅极驱动信号。
发明内容
本发明有关一种显示面板,具有一显示区和一周边区邻近于显示区设置,显示面板包括一像素矩阵、多个栅极线、多个第一走线以及一第一栅极驱动电路。像素矩阵位于显示区中。栅极线耦接至像素矩阵。第一走线接至像素矩阵。第一栅极驱动电路位于周边区中,且透过至少部分第一走线和至少多个栅极线耦接至像素矩阵。在显示区中,栅极线沿一第一方向延伸,第一走线沿一第二方向延伸,且第一方向和第二方向不同。

为让本发明的特征能更明显易懂,下文举出本发明的具体实施例,并配合所附图式,作详细说明如下。目的在于说明本发明的精神而非用以限定本发明的保护范围,应理解下列实施例可经由软件、硬件、固件、或上述任意组合来实现。
在本发明中,各种不同实施例的技术特征是可在不互相排斥的前提下互相替换或组合以完成其他的实施例。
在本发明中,「耦接」若未特别定义,其包含直接连接、间接连接、电性连接以及电性耦合的态样。
在本发明中,用以修饰元件的“第一”、“第二”等序数词的使用本身未暗示任何优先权、优先次序、各元件之间的先后次序、或方法所执行的步骤的次序,而仅用作标识来区分具有相同名称(具有不同序数词)的不同元件。
图1是根据本发明的一实施例的显示面板方块图。如图所示,显示面板100 可包括一像素矩阵110、一栅极驱动电路120与一控制芯片130。像素矩阵110 包含多个像素单元,各像素单元由对应的像素电路所形成。栅极驱动电路120 耦接至栅极线,并透过栅极线耦接至像素矩阵110,以提供栅极驱动信号驱动像素矩阵110的多个像素单元。控制芯片130可为整合至少一数据驱动电路与一时序控制电路的一芯片其中数据驱动电路可透过数据线耦接至像素矩阵110,以提供数据驱动信号,将影像数据透过数据驱动信号写入像素矩阵110的多个像素单元。时序控制电路用以产生多个时序信号,包括时脉信号、重置信号、起始脉冲、结束信号等。
值得注意的是,显示面板100可为由有源式矩阵(active matrix)或被动式矩阵(passive matrix)所构成的任何类型的面板装置,例如,液晶显示器(Liquid CrystalDisplays,LCD)、有机发光二极管(Organic light emitting diode,OLED) 显示器、微型化发光二极管显示器(Micro-LED Display)、次毫米发光二极管显示器(Mini-LED display)、量子点发光二极管显示器(Quantum Dot LED Display)、量子点显示器(Quantum DotDisplay)或电子纸显示器(Electronic Paper Display, EPD)。且于本发明中,显示面板100可为可挠式、可拉伸式或硬式显示面板。一般而言,像素电路中使用一个或多个薄膜晶体管(Thin-Film Transistor,TFT) 作为开关元件的显示面板通常称为有源式矩阵(active matrix)显示面板;若在像素中没有薄膜晶体管作为开关元件者,则称为被动式矩阵(passive matrix)显示面板。
根据本发明的实施例,显示面板100可应用于电子装置中,其中电子装置有多种实施方式,包括:行动电话、数字相机、行动电脑、桌上型电脑、电视机、汽车用显示器、可携式光盘拨放器、拼接式面板、户外大型显示器、或任何包括影像显示功能的装置。
在本发明中,像素矩阵110所占据的区域即为显示面板100用以显示影像的显示区(Active area,AA),而未被像素矩阵110所占据的区域即为显示面板 100用以设置周边电路的周边区。
近年来,发展一种整合型栅极驱动电路(Integrated Gate driver),是将栅极驱动电路制作于面板上,此技术也被统称为面板上栅极驱动器(Gate driver on panel,简称GOP)。本发明提出一种显示面板的GOP驱动电路设计,适用于窄边框、极窄边框或者无边框的显示面板,并且可为各栅极线提供驱动能力一致的栅极驱动信号。
图2是根据本发明的一实施例所述的驱动电路设计示意图。根据本发明的一实施例,栅极驱动电路220被配置于显示面板的一顶部或一底部,其中显示面板顶部可以是邻近像素矩阵中第一行(row)像素单元(即,于显示一帧画面时,第一行被开启用以接收影像数据的像素单元)的上方,而显示面板底部可以是邻近像素矩阵中最末行像素单元(即,于显示一帧画面时,最后一行被开启用以接收影像数据的像素单元)的下方。其中,于本发明的实施例中,行(row)像素单元为水平方向排列的像素单元。
根据本发明的一实施例,栅极驱动电路220包括多个驱动单元DU(1)、 DU(2)、DU(3)…DU(N),其中N为一正整数。各驱动单元被耦接至对应的一栅极线,例如,栅极线GL(1)、GL(2)、GL(3)…GL(N)的一。驱动单元DU(1)、 DU(2)、DU(3)…DU(N)依序输出对应的一栅极驱动信号至对应的栅极线GL(1)、 GL(2)、GL(3)…GL(N)。此外,各驱动单元输出的栅极驱动信号亦可被供应至相邻或下一级的驱动单元作为对应的输入信号。举例而言,除供应至栅极线 GL(1)外,驱动单元DU(1)所产生的栅极驱动信号亦可被供应至驱动单元DU(2) 作为对应的输入信号。除供应至栅极线GL(2)外,驱动单元DU(2)所产生的栅极驱动信号亦可被供应至驱动单元DU(3)作为对应的输入信号,并依此类推。
如图2所示,于此范例中,驱动单元DU(1)、DU(2)、DU(3)…DU(N)被配置于显示面板的底部,并且各驱动单元分别透过所对应的第一走线VL(1)、VL (2)、VL(3)…VL(N)耦接至像素矩阵中所对应的栅极线GL(1)、GL(2)、GL (3)…GL(N)所耦接的行像素单元PU,用以将对应的栅极驱动信号供应至该行像素单元PU。举例而言,驱动单元DU(1)至少透过一第一走线VL(1)与一栅极线GL(1)耦接至第1行像素单元,驱动单元DU(2)至少透过一第一走线VL(2) 与一栅极线GL(2)耦接至第2行像素单元,并依此类推。
根据本发明的一实施例,栅极线为大致沿着一第一方向D1延伸的走线,第一走线为沿着一第二方向D2延伸的走线。根据本发明的一实施例,第一方向D1与第二方向D2不同。根据本发明的一实施例,第一方向D1与第二方向 D2大致垂直。
值得注意的是,图2所示的信号走线配置仅用以示意本发明的栅极驱动电路的配置,而非用以限定本发明的实施方式。
图3是根据本发明的一实施例的栅极驱动电路方块图。栅极驱动电路320 可包括多个驱动单元DU(1)、DU(2)、DU(3)…DU(N),其中各驱动单元可包括一移位寄存器,例如移位寄存器SR(1)、SR(2)、SR(3)…SR(N)以及一输出缓冲电路,例如输出缓冲电路Buf(1)、Buf(2)、Buf(3)…Buf(N)。各驱动单元的移位寄存器SR(1)、SR(2)、SR(3)…SR(N)用以产生对应的栅极驱动信号,并且将栅极驱动信号供应至相邻或下一级的移位寄存器作为对应的输入信号。此外,各驱动单元的输出缓冲电路Buf(1)、Buf(2)、Buf(3)…Buf(N)可提供对应的栅极驱动信号,使得输出的栅极驱动信号G(1)、G(2)、G(3)…G(N)可沿着对应的走线并提供至对应的像素单元。
输出缓冲电路内具有至少一晶体管(transistor),在本发明的某些实施例中,输出缓冲电路的晶体管可为薄膜晶体管(Thin film transistor)的形式。图4A与图 4B是本发明一实施例的薄膜晶体管的结构示意图,但不以此为限。根据本发明的一实施例,输出缓冲电路内的薄膜晶体管具有一通道区(channel region),通道区具有一宽度W与一间距L,薄膜晶体管的尺寸为宽度W与间距L间的比值(W/L)。为了使各驱动单元对应的栅极驱动信号抵达对应的各行像素单元时能具有相近的驱动能力,栅极驱动电路中的至少两个薄膜晶体管可被配置具有不同的尺寸,而薄膜晶体管的尺寸与对应驱动单元输出的栅极驱动信号的传输距离有关。举例而言,当栅极驱动电路中的第一驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸大于第二驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸时,第一驱动单元所对应的第一传输距离大于栅极驱动电路中的第二驱动单元所对应的第二传输距离。
图5A是根据本发明的一实施例的输出缓冲电路范例电路图。输出缓冲电路400A可包括多个串接于输入端IN与输出端OUT之间的反相器,其中,输入端IN可耦接于对应的移位寄存器输出端,用以接收对应的栅极驱动信号,输出端OUT可为驱动单元的输出端其中输出端OUT可透过对应的第一走线耦接至一栅极线,使得对应的栅极驱动信号可透过第一走线自输出端OUT输出至对应的像素单元。
根据本发明的一实施例,反相器可由一或多个晶体管所组成。
图5B是根据本发明的另一实施例的输出缓冲电路范例电路图。输出缓冲电路400B可包括多个耦接于输入端IN与输出端OUT之间的反相器,其中,各反相器可由两个串接的晶体管所组成。图4B所示的反相器电路是采用CMOS 制程,即,反相器可包括串接的一P型MOS晶体管(PMOS)与一N型MOS晶体管(NMOS)。须注意的是,本发明并不限定于采用CMOS制程,亦不限定于图中所示的电路结构、反相器数量、晶体管数量、及其耦接方式。
图6A是根据本发明的一实施例的栅极驱动电路与对应的走线配置范例。栅极驱动电路520A可包括多个驱动单元DU(1)、DU(2)…、DU(N)。根据本发明的一实施例,第一走线包括了位于周边区,从输出缓冲电路的输出端至第一走线与像素矩阵边缘的交点的线段,以及位于显示区内,从像素矩阵边缘交点沿着第一走线到达驱动单元所对应栅极线的信号接收点的线段。如图6A所示,位于显示区内的第一走线大致沿着第二方向D2延伸,而位于周边区的第一走线大致沿着一第三方向延伸,且第三方向可和第二方向D2不同,但不以此为限。在本发明的其他实施例中,在周边区的第一走线可包含多个延伸方向,或为弧状设计,但本发明不限于此。
在本发明中,各驱动单元对应的传输距离为栅极驱动信号从对应的输出缓冲电路的输出端至驱动单元所对应的栅极线与显示区中心线交点的路径长度总和。如图6A所示,根据本发明的一实施例,驱动单元DU(1)输出的栅极驱动信号所对应的传输路径为对应输出缓冲电路的输出端OUT1至第一走线与像素矩阵的边缘的第一交点A1之间的一线段,以及从第一交点A1沿着第一走线到达对应的第一栅极线GL(1)的信号接收点B11之间的一线段,以及第一栅极线GL(1)的信号接收点B11与第一栅极线GL(1)与显示区中心线Center交点C1之间的一线段。因此,驱动单元DU(1)对应传输路径的第一传输距离可等于信号传输路径上各线段长度总和
同理,驱动单元DU(2)输出的栅极驱动信号所对应的传输路径为对应的输出缓冲电路的输出端OUT2至对应的第一走线与像素矩阵的边缘的第二交点A2之间的一线段,以及沿着第二交点A2到达对应的第二栅极线GL(2)的一信号接收点B22之间的一线段,以与门栅极线GL(2)的信号接收点B22与栅极线GL(2) 与显示区中心线Center交点C2之间的一线段。因此,驱动单元DU(2)对应传输路径的第二传输距离可等于信号传输路径上各线段长度总和以此类推,驱动单元DU(N)对应传输路径的传输距离可等于信号传输路径上各线段长度总和其中C1~CN可为各栅极线GL(1)~GL(N)与显示区中心线Center的交点。
如上述,驱动单元中输出缓冲电路的晶体管尺寸与对应驱动单元输出的栅极驱动信号的传输距离有关。根据本发明的一实施例,当栅极驱动电路中的第一驱动单元所对应的第一传输距离大于栅极驱动电路中的第二驱动单元所对应的第二传输距离第一驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸将可大于第二驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸。
此外,值得注意的是,于上述实施例中,栅极驱动电路520A被配置于像素矩阵510A的底部(邻近像素矩阵中最末行像素单元的下方),然而,本发明并不限于此。
图6B是显示根据本发明的另一实施例所述的栅极驱动电路与对应的走线配置范例。于此实施例中,栅极驱动电路520B被配置于像素矩阵510B的顶部 (邻近像素矩阵中第一行像素单元的上方)。同样地,于此实施例中,驱动单元 DU(X)对应的信号传输路径为驱动单元DU(X)对应输出缓冲电路的输出端至对应第一走线与像素矩阵的边缘的交点之间的一线段,以及从像素矩阵边缘的交点沿着第一走线到达对应的栅极线的信号接收点之间的一线段,以及从对应栅极线的信号接收点到该栅极线与显示区中心线交点间的一线段。因此,驱动单元DU(X)对应的信号传输距离可等于对应信号传输路径上各线段长度总和其中1≤X≤N,N为一正整数。
此外,值得注意的是,于上述实施例中,显示面板仅于像素矩阵的顶部或底部配置一个单边驱动的栅极驱动电路,然而,本发明并不限于此。
图7A是显示根据本发明的一实施例所述的显示面板的栅极驱动电路的配置范例。于此实施例中,栅极驱动电路620A_L、620A_R与控制芯片630A被配置于像素矩阵610A的底部,并且栅极驱动电路620A_L与620A_R被配置于控制芯片630A的两侧。栅极驱动电路620A_L与620A_R的各级驱动单元分别耦接至对应的栅极线GL(1)、GL(2)、GL(3)、GL(4)…GL(N-2)、GL(N-1)、GL(N),用以实施双边驱动。于本实施例中,同样地,对于栅极驱动电路620A_L与 620A_R中不同的驱动单元,其输出缓冲电路所包含的晶体管可具有不同的尺寸。举例而言,栅极驱动电路620A_L包括一第一驱动单元(未绘出)与一第二驱动单元(未绘出),其中该第一驱动单元包括一第一输出缓冲电路(未绘出),用以提供一第一栅极驱动信号,该第二驱动单元包括一第二输出缓冲电路(未绘出),用以提供一第二栅极驱动信号,其中第一输出缓冲电路的晶体管与第二输出缓冲电路的晶体管可具有不同的尺寸;同理,栅极驱动电路620A_R包括一第三驱动单元(未绘出)与一第四驱动单元(未绘出),其中第三驱动单元包括一第三输出缓冲电路(未绘出),用以提供一第三栅极驱动信号,第四驱动单元包括一第四输出缓冲电路(未绘出),用以提供一第四栅极驱动信号,其中第三输出缓冲电路的晶体管与第四输出缓冲电路的晶体管可具有不同的尺寸。
栅极驱动电路620A_L与620A_R的驱动单元的输出缓冲电路的晶体管尺寸与该驱动单元所对应的传输距离有关,举例而言,当栅极驱动电路中的第一驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸大于第二驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸时,第一驱动单元所对应的第一传输距离大于栅极驱动电路中的第二驱动单元所对应的第二传输距离。其中,各驱动单元对应的传输距离为栅极驱动信号从对应的输出缓冲电路的输出端至驱动单元所对应的栅极线与显示区中心线交点的路径长度总和。
图6B是根据本发明的另一实施例所述的显示面板的栅极驱动电路的配置范例。于此实施例中,栅极驱动电路620B_L、620B_R与控制芯片630B被配置于像素矩阵610B的顶部,并且栅极驱动电路620B_L与620B_R被配置于控制芯片630B的两侧。栅极驱动电路620B_L与620B_R的各驱动单元分别耦接至对应的栅极线GL(1)、GL(2)、GL(3)、GL(4)…GL(N-2)、GL(N-1)、GL(N),用以实施双边驱动。于本实施例中,同样地,对于栅极驱动电路620B_L与620B_R中不同的驱动单元所对应输出缓冲电路的晶体管尺寸与驱动单元所对应的传输距离有关。举例而言,当栅极驱动电路中的第一驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸大于第二驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸时,第一驱动单元所对应的第一传输距离大于栅极驱动电路中的第二驱动单元所对应的第二传输距离。其中,各驱动单元对应的传输距离为栅极驱动信号从对应的输出缓冲电路的输出端至所对应的栅极线与显示区中心线交点的路径长度总和。
图7C是根据本发明的另一实施例所述的显示面板的栅极驱动电路的配置范例。于此实施例中,栅极驱动电路620C_L被配置于像素矩阵610C的顶部,栅极驱动电路620C_R与控制芯片630C被配置于像素矩阵610C的底部,并且栅极驱动电路620C_L与620C_R分别被配置于像素矩阵610C的中心线Center 的左右两侧。栅极驱动电路620C_L与620C_R的各驱动单元分别耦接至对应的栅极线GL(1)、GL(2)、GL(3)、GL(4)…GL(N-2)、GL(N-1)、GL(N),用以实施双边驱动。于本实施例中,同样地,对于栅极驱动电路620C_L与620C_R 中不同的驱动单元,其输出缓冲电路可具有不同的尺寸。举例而言,栅极驱动电路620C_L与620C_R中驱动单元的输出缓冲电路的晶体管所对应输出缓冲电路的晶体管尺寸与该驱动单元所对应的传输距离有关。其中,各驱动单元对应的传输距离为栅极驱动信号从对应的输出缓冲电路的输出端至对应的栅极线与显示区中心线交点的路径长度总和。
根据本发明的一实施例,栅极驱动电路620C_L与620C_R可分别包括多个驱动单元,栅极驱动电路中至少一个驱动单元透过对应的多个第一走线其中一者耦接至对应的多个栅极线的其中一者,再透过对应的多个栅极线的其中一者耦接至像素矩阵的一水平方向排列的行像素单元。
于本发明的实施例中,借由将栅极驱动电路配置于显示面板的顶部或底部 (像素矩阵的上方或下方),以改善传统配置占据面板两侧的边框空间的问题。此外,于本发明的实施例中,栅极驱动电路内的多个输出缓冲电路被配置可具有不同尺寸的晶体管,使栅极驱动信号经过不同传输距离而抵达对应的各行像素单元时能具有相近的驱动能力。举例而言,当栅极驱动电路中的第一驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸大于第二驱动单元所对应薄膜晶体管的尺寸时,第一驱动单元所对应的第一传输距离大于栅极驱动电路中的第二驱动单元所对应的第二传输距离。借由上述设计,本发明的所提出栅极驱动电路可适用于窄边框、极窄边框或者无边框的显示面板,并且可为各栅极线提供驱动能力相近的栅极驱动信号。
虽然本发明已以较佳实施例揭示如上,然其并非用以限定本发明,任何本领域技术人员,在不脱离本发明的精神和范围内,当可作些许的修改和完善,因此本发明的保护范围当以权利要求书所界定的为准。
Claims (10)
1.一种显示面板,具有一显示区和一周边区邻近于该显示区设置,该显示面板包括:
一像素矩阵,位于该显示区中;
多个栅极线,耦接至该像素矩阵;
多个第一走线,耦接至该像素矩阵;以及
一第一栅极驱动电路,位于该周边区中,且透过至少部分该多个第一走线和至少部分该多个栅极线耦接至该像素矩阵;
其中,在显示区中,该多个栅极线沿一第一方向延伸,该多个第一走线沿一第二方向延伸,且该第一方向和该第二方向不同。
2.如权利要求1所述的显示面板,其特征在于,在该周边区中,该多个第一走线的其中一者沿一第三方向延伸,且该第三方向和该第二方向不同。
3.如权利要求1所述的显示面板,其特征在于,该第一栅极驱动电路包括一第一驱动单元和一第二驱动单元,该第一驱动单元包括一第一输出缓冲电路具有一第一晶体管,该第二驱动单元包括一第二输出缓冲电路具有一第二晶体管,且该第一晶体管大于该第二晶体管。
4.如权利要求3所述的显示面板,其特征在于,该第一驱动单元对应的该多个第一走线的其中一者具有一第一长度,该第二驱动单元对应的该多个第一走线的其中另一者具有一第二长度,且该第一长度大于该第二长度。
5.如权利要求3所述的显示面板,其特征在于,该第一驱动单元对应于一第一传输距离,该第二驱动单元对应于一第二传输距离,且该第一传输距离大于该第二传输距离。
6.如权利要求3所述的显示面板,其特征在于,该第一驱动单元更包括一移位寄存器,耦接至该第一输出缓冲电路。

9.如权利要求1所述的显示面板,更包括一第二栅极驱动电路,位于该周边区中,且该控制芯片设置于该第一栅极驱动电路和该第二栅极驱动电路之间。
10.如权利要求9所述的显示面板,其特征在于,该多个栅极线的其中一者耦接至该第一栅极驱动电路和该第二栅极驱动电路。
