技术领域
本发明总体上涉及光纤连接器,具体地说,涉及低型面光纤连接器。
背景技术
企业和个人消费者对带宽的需求持续呈指数级增长。为了高效经济地满足这种需求,数据中心必须实现在低损耗预算的情况下超高密度地布线。光纤已经成为由数据中心使用的标准布线介质,以便满足数据容量、传输速度和低损耗的增长需求。光纤连接器是布置在光纤端部处的机械装置,并作为光路的连接器,例如在光纤彼此连接时。光纤连接器可以与适配器联接,以便使得光纤电缆与其它光纤电缆或装置连接。适配器通常包括具有至少一个端口的壳体或壳体部分,该端口设置成用于接收和保持连接器,以方便使得一个连接器与另一连接器或其它装置光学连接。
普通的光纤连接器具有很多构成部件,包括例如弹簧。具有很多组成部件的普通光纤连接器导致较大的型面,且还需要更复杂的装配和制造过程。因此,需要一种光纤连接器,特别是SC型光纤连接器,它具有更少的部件和相对较低的型面。
发明内容
这里公开的实施例通过提供具有相对较低型面的光纤连接器来解决上述缺点。在一些实施例中,连接器系统可以包括适配器。在这里公开的多种实施例中,低型面连接器可以通过提供与现有技术实施例相比具有更少构成部件的连接器来实现。
根据一个方面,提供了一种低型面的光纤连接器,它包括:插芯;插头框架,该插头框架设置成用于接收插芯;以及外部壳体,该外部壳体设置成用于接收插头框架,外部壳体还设置成当所述低型面光纤连接器插入适配器中时从适配器的一端凸出小于大约2mm。低型面光纤连接器可以设置为SC类型连接器。插芯可以并不由弹簧支承。
在一些实施例中,外部壳体可以包括板,该板设置成从适配器的端部凸出小于大约1.75mm。在一些实施例中,可以对板进行倒角。

具体实施方式
这里使用的术语“光纤”将应用于所有类型的单模式和多模式光波导件,包括一个或多个裸光纤、涂覆光纤、松管光纤、紧密缓冲光纤、带状光纤、弯曲性能光纤、弯曲不敏感光纤、纳米结构光纤或用于传输光信号的任何其它手段。术语光纤电缆还可以包括具有多个光纤的多光纤电缆。
为了将电缆连接在一起或与其它光纤装置连接,电缆的末端可以包括连接器。连接器可以包括壳体结构,该壳体结构设置成与适配器相互作用和连接。简单形式的适配器可以包括两个对齐的端口,用于对齐其中的光纤连接器和/或电连接器,以便使得光纤端对端地对齐和连接,或能够用于插针/插座电连接件。
SC连接器的多种实施例可以用于需要高密度阵列的任何地方。实施例使得很多连接器能够装配在较小空间中。在多种实施例中,通过使用低型面的壳体/板,低型面、较小凸出的SC类型连接器能够用于高密度,该壳体/板通过使用“键”或凸片而锁定在适配器中。在一些实施例中,该板可以被倒角,以便能够抓住和向后拉动,以便从适配器壳体中释放连接器。
在这里公开的多种实施例中,通过提供与现有技术实施例相比具有更少构成部件的光纤连接器,可以实现低型面光纤连接器。例如,这里公开的多种实施例不需要使用弹簧,如图2和6中所示。
这里公开的连接器的多种实施例具有更少部件,且只从适配器凸出大约1.75mm。光纤连接器的一些实施例具有可选的定制尺寸的尾护套。在一些实施例中,具有尾护套的连接器可以越过适配器的端部延伸大约14.25mm,从而形成更小型面,且比现有连接器短得多。
光纤连接器的多种实施例设置成与现有的标准或普通SC适配器一起工作。因此,消费者不需要提供特殊的适配器来建立连接。
这里公开的光纤连接器的多种实施例通过具有更小的设计和更少的部件(例如没有弹簧、从适配器凸起较短、更短的后支柱和定制的尾护套)而实现低型面。
图1是具有低型面的光纤连接器100的一个实施例的透视图。图1表示了连接器100具有外部壳体102和插芯104。如图2中所示,光纤连接器100包括:外部壳体102;插芯104,该插芯104与法兰106联接;以及插头框架108。该插头框架108设置成接收插芯104和法兰106。法兰106设置成与插头框架108联接。外部壳体102设置成接收插头框架108并与它联接。
外部壳体102可以包括至少一个开口110,例如侧部开口,该开口110用于接收插头框架108的至少一个凸片112。外部壳体102还可以包括凸起114,该凸起114设置成与适配器120的相应开口116接合,例如如图3中所示。外部壳体102还包括板122。该板122可以被倒角,以方便从适配器120移除。
图3是根据本发明的方案的、图1的光纤连接器的透视图,该光纤连接器插入适配器120中。如图所示,凸起114与适配器120的开口116接合。凸起114布置在插头框架108的顶部壁处,相应的开口116也布置在适配器120的顶部壁处。而且,插头框架108的凸片112与适配器120的侧壁上的相应开口110接合。板122用于抵靠适配器120的一端,并可以进行倒角,以方便从适配器120中移除连接器100。
图4是根据本发明的方案的、图3的连接器100和适配器120的侧视图,还表示了有倒角的板122以及插头框架108的凸片112,该凸片112从适配器的开口110凸出。在该实施例中,连接器100只从适配器120的端部凸出大约1.75mm,如由箭头124所示。在多种实施例中,连接器100可以从适配器120的端部凸出小于或等于大约2mm。
图5是光纤连接器200的另一实施例的透视图,该光纤连接器200还包括尾护套202,并根据本发明的方案来设置。图6是图5的光纤连接器200的分解图。上述关于光纤连接器100的所有特征也包括在光纤连接器200中。
图7是根据本发明的方案的、插入适配器120中的光纤连接器200的侧视图。图7表示了有倒角的板122以及插头框架108的凸片112,该凸片112从适配器120的开口110凸出。图7还表示了具有定制尺寸的尾护套202。在该实施例中,具有尾护套202的连接器200超过适配器120的端部延伸大约14.25mm,如由箭头204所示,从而形成更小的型面,并比现有连接器短得多。在多种实施例中,具有尾护套202的连接器200可以从适配器120的端部凸出小于或等于大约15mm。

Claims (9)
1.一种低型面光纤连接器组件,包括:
插芯;
插头框架,所述插头框架设置成用于接收所述插芯;
适配器,所述适配器具有开口,以及
外部壳体,所述外部壳体设置成用于接收所述插头框架,所述外部壳体具有用于与所述开口接合的凸起,从而,当所述低型面光纤连接器插入适配器中时,所述外部壳体从所述适配器的一端凸出小于大约2mm。
2.根据权利要求1所述的低型面光纤连接器,其中,所述光纤连接器设置为SC类型连接器。
3.根据权利要求1所述的低型面光纤连接器,其中:所述插芯并不由弹簧支承。
4.根据权利要求1所述的低型面光纤连接器,其中:所述外部壳体包括板,所述板设置成从适配器的所述端部凸出小于大约1.75mm。
5.根据权利要求4所述的低型面光纤连接器,其中:对所述板进行倒角。
6.根据权利要求1所述的低型面光纤连接器,还包括:定制尺寸的尾护套。
7.根据权利要求6所述的低型面光纤连接器,其中:所述尾护套的尺寸设置成使得该尾护套从适配器的所述端部凸出小于大约15mm。
