Abstract

技术领域
本申请要求2016年3月31日向韩国知识产权局提交的韩国专利申请10-2006-0038804的优先权和权益,该韩国专利申请的全部内容通过引用并入本文。
本发明涉及具有高挠性的电极组件以及包括该电极组件的电池单元。
背景技术
随着IT(信息技术)的惊人发展,各种便携式信息通信设备已经普及,这导致发展成为在21世纪无论何时何地都能够提供高质量信息服务的泛在社会。
在发展成为这个泛在社会的基础中,锂二次电池占有重要地位。具体而言,可充放电的锂二次电池被广泛用作无线移动设备的能源,以及用作电动汽车、混合动力电动汽车等的能源,这些电动汽车、混合动力电动汽车等被提议作为解决使用化石燃料的现有汽油车辆、柴油车辆等空气污染等的措施。
如上所述,随着应用锂二次电池的设备多样化,锂二次电池也在多样化,从而可以提供对于应用锂二次电池的设备适用的输出和容量。另外,强烈需要锂二次电池更小、更轻和更薄。
根据其形状,锂二次电池可以分为圆柱形电池单元、角形电池单元、袋形电池单元等,并且这些电池单元具有这样的结构:包括电极和分隔件的电极组件与电解液一起安装在电池壳体上。
同时,所述设备的设计可以不仅由长方体形状形成,并且可具有可弯曲的形状。例如,智能手机可以进行侧面曲线处理,以改善抓握感,并且挠性显示器可以弯曲或屈曲,并制成各种形态。
由于被设计为具有曲面部分或者可以这样弯曲的设备在将具有特定形状的电池单元装入设备内部的空间中时受限,所以近来,要求电池单元具有挠性特性,以便它可以容易地装入各种设计的设备中。
因此,目前极需要可以响应具有各种形状的设备而灵活应用于所述设备的电极组件和电池单元。
发明内容
技术问题
本发明的目的是解决上述现有技术的问题以及过去所要求的技术挑战。
具体而言,本发明致力于提供一种电极组件,其优点在于通过使得水平长度比竖直长度相对更长而具有自然弯曲的形状,更确切地说,以高挠性来响应设备的形状,并且即使反复弯曲仍能保持与普通电极组件几乎相同的电池特性;以及提供一种包含该电极组件的电池单元。
技术方案
本发明的示例性实施方式提供了一种电极组件,其具有在分隔件置于正极片和负极片之间的状态下以一个方向卷绕的结构,
其中,所述电极组件的两侧端部在相同方向上以满足下面等式1的曲率半径(R)共同弯曲:
S[{1/ln(x/y)}*t]=R 1
其中,t是所述卷绕式电极组件的平均厚度(mm),x是所述电极组件的水平长度,y是所述电极组件的竖直长度,并且
S是8或更大的常数,并且ln(x/y)≥1。
S是考虑正极板和负极板的挠曲应力以及分隔件的弹力而确定的任意常数。
也就是说,本发明的电极组件的水平长度比竖直长度相对更长,从而由自然弯曲的形状形成,并且提供了能够应用于具有曲面外形的设备、或者外形平坦但安装电池单元的部分的形状是曲面的设备的优点。
具体而言,常数S可以是8或更大的值,优选9至12。在满足所述常数值的范围时获得的曲率半径的限度内,所述电极组件保持电池特性,例如容量保持率几乎等于普通电极组件,同时即使在反复弯曲之后也不会破裂。
在本发明中,在竖直长度(y)比水平长度(x)为1:3或更高的范围内,曲率半径(R)由卷绕式电极组件的平均厚度(t)和常数S决定。具有预定平均厚度的电极组件可以在满足常数S的范围的曲率半径范围内自由弯曲,并且即使反复弯曲,仍能满足与普通果冻卷型电极组件几乎同等的电池特性。
上述等式的曲率半径(R)是当所述电极组件在特定点处弯曲到最大值时的曲面半径,并且与曲率成反比。因此,随着曲率半径(R)变大,电极组件被弯曲成具有平缓的曲线,随着曲率半径(R)变小,电极组件被弯曲成具有尖锐的曲线。
具有这样曲率半径的电极组件可以在没有基于水平长度的额外外力的情况下自然形成,并且如果需要,可以通过预定外力诱导为具有更精细尺寸的曲率半径。
所述电极组件可以形成为这样的弯曲形状的原因被理解为由于如下结构:通过在相对较长的水平长度方向上分散应力,从而对于变形成弯曲形状具有相对增大的挠性。
另外,所述电极组件可以变形为曲率半径基于高挠性而增大或减小的形状。
根据具体的示例性实施方式,所述水平长度(x)可以是50mm至500mm。
当所述水平长度(x)小于50mm时,可能无法期待由于应力分散效应引起的挠性,因此难以实现具有所述曲率半径(R)的电极组件,并且即使在电极组件被强制变形以具有所述曲率半径(R)的情况下,可能由应力引起电极的破裂,因此不是优选的。
特别是,所述具有卷绕式电极和分隔件结构的电极组件具有在卷绕中央部分上的应力集中,因此,当所述电极组件被强制变形时,可能发生卷绕中央部分的扭曲,并且这种扭曲可能会导致电极破裂。
然而,当所述水平长度(x)大于500mm时,所述曲率半径(R)形成为较小,使得所述电极组件可以更大程度地弯曲,但反之,所述电极组件即使在来自外部的低外力下都可能容易变形,并且重复这种过程会引起电极破裂,这不是优选的。
然而,这样的情况并不仅仅由水平长度的数值决定,而是以相对较短的竖直长度是水平长度的1/3或更小为前提。
所述竖直长度(y)与水平长度(x)的比率(y:x)可以是1:3至1:20,特别是1:5至1:10。
在超出上述范围的情况下,当所述水平长度小于竖直长度的三倍时,难以获得期望的挠性,而当所述水平长度大于竖直长度的20倍时,所述电极组件的刚性可能过度劣化,这不是优选的。
根据具体的示例性实施方式,所述曲率半径(R)没有特别限制,只要电极组件不过度弯曲,从而电极在卷绕中央部分中不因应力而破裂、并保持期望的弯曲形状即可,但是具体地,所述曲率半径(R)可以是5mm至20mm。
特别是,当所述曲率半径(R)小于5mm时,所述电极组件弯曲很大,因此,所述电极可能因由所述卷绕电极片形成的应力和由弯曲产生的应力而破裂,这不是优选的。
根据具体的示例性实施方式,所述电极组件可以具有这样的结构:正极引线和负极引线在与竖直长度(y)平行的方向上并排突出。
另外,所述正极引线和负极引线可以位于更靠近电极组件中的端部侧而不是卷绕中央部分的部分处,使得所述电极引线不会干扰所述电极组件的弯曲形状。然而,如果需要,所述电极引线的突出部分可以有不同的变化。
根据本发明的电极组件可以具有这样的结构:正极、负极和隔板片被卷绕有限的次数,使得水平长度较长而平均厚度相对较薄,并且具体而言,卷绕可以进行五次或更少。
本发明的另一种实施方式提供了一种电池单元,其具有这样的结构:所述电极组件与电解液一起存储在可变电池壳体中,
其中,所述电极组件和所述电池壳体的位于彼此面对的位置的两侧端部沿着相同方向共同弯曲,从而在所述电池单元的外表面上形成曲面。
在本发明中,电池单元的类型没有特别限制,然而,作为具体例子,可以是具有例如高能量密度、高放电电压和高输出稳定性等优点的锂二次电池,例如锂离子(Li离子)可再充电电池、锂聚合物(Li-聚合物)可再充电电池、或锂离子聚合物(Li-离子聚合物)可再充电电池。
一般而言,锂二次电池包含正极、负极、分隔件和含锂盐的非水电解液。
所述正极例如以如下方式制造:在正极集电体和/或延伸集电部件上涂覆正极活性物质、导电剂和粘合剂的混合物并将其干燥,并且如果需要,还向所述混合物中添加填充剂。
所述正极集电体和/或延伸集电部件一般被制造成厚度为3至500μm。这些正极集电体和延伸集电部件没有特别限制,只要它们不会引起电池内的化学变化并具有高导电性即可,例如,可以使用不锈钢、铝、镍、钛、煅烧碳、或者用碳、镍、钛、银等表面处理的铝或不锈钢。所述正极集电体和/或延伸集电部件可以通过在其表面上形成微细的凹凸而增加所述正极活性物质的粘附力,并且可以形成为各种形态,例如膜、片、箔、网、多孔体、泡沫体、无纺布体等。
所述正极活性物质可以包括层状化合物或用一种或多种过渡金属取代的化合物,例如钴酸锂(LiCoO2)和镍酸锂(LiNiO2);锂锰氧化物,例如化学式Li1+xMn2-xO4(其中x是0-0.33)、LiMnO3、LiMn2O3、LiMnO2等;锂铜氧化物(Li2CuO2);钒氧化物例如LiV3O8、LiFe3O4、V2O5和Cu2V2O7;由化学式LiNi1-xMxO2(其中M=Co、Mn、Al、Cu、Fe、Mg、B或Ga,并且x=0.01-0.3)表示的Ni-位型锂镍氧化物;由化学式LiMn2-xMxO2(其中M=Co、Ni、Fe、Cr、Zn或Ta,并且x=0.01-0.1)或Li2Mn3MO8(其中M=Fe、Co、Ni、Cu或Zn)表示的锂锰复合氧化物;LiMn2O4,其中Li在所述化学式中被碱土金属离子部分取代;二硫化物化合物;Fe2(MoO4)3,等等,但不限于此。
基于包含所述正极活性物质的混合物的总重量,所述导电剂通常以1至30重量%添加。这种导电剂没有特别的限制,只要它不引起电池中的化学变化并具有导电性即可,例如,石墨,如天然石墨或人造石墨;炭黑,如炭黑、乙炔黑、科琴黑、槽黑、炉黑、灯黑和夏黑;导电纤维,如碳纤维或金属纤维;金属粉末如氟化碳、铝和镍粉;导电晶须,如氧化锌和钛酸钾;导电金属氧化物,如氧化钛;导电性材料,如聚亚苯基衍生物,等等。
所述粘合剂是协助将所述活性物质与导电剂等粘合、并粘合到集电体的组分,并且基于包含所述正极活性物质的混合物的总重量,通常以1至30wt%添加。作为这种粘合剂的例子,可以列举聚偏二氟乙烯、聚乙烯醇、羧甲基纤维素(CMC)、淀粉、羟丙基纤维素、再生纤维素、聚乙烯吡咯烷酮、四氟乙烯、聚乙烯、聚丙烯、乙烯-丙烯-二烯三元共聚物(EPDM)、磺化EPDM、苯丁橡胶、氟橡胶、各种共聚物等。
所述填充剂是抑制正极膨胀的组分,并且任选使用。它没有特别限制,只要它不在电池中引起化学变化并且是纤维状材料即可,例如,可以使用烯烃基聚合物,如聚乙烯和聚丙烯;以及纤维状物质,如玻璃纤维和碳纤维。
所述负极通过如下方式制成:在所述负极集电体和/或延伸集电部件上涂覆负极活性物质,并将其干燥,并且如果需要,还可以任选地包含上述组分。
所述负极集电体和/或延伸集电部件一般制成3至500μm的厚度。该负极集电体和/或延伸集电部件没有特别限制,只要它们在电池中不引起化学变化并具有导电性即可,例如,可以使用铜、不锈钢、铝、镍、钛、煅烧碳、或者用碳、镍、钛、银等表面处理的铜或不锈钢,可以使用铝-镉合金等。另外,如同正极集电体那样,可以通过在其表面上形成微细的凹凸来提高所述负极活性物质的粘合力,并且可以使用各种形态,例如膜、片、箔、网、多孔体、泡沫体、无纺布体等。
作为负极活性物质,例如可以使用:碳,如硬碳和石墨基碳;金属复合氧化物,如LixFe2O3(0≤x≤1)、LixWO2(0≤x≤1)、SnxMe1-xMe’yOz(Me:Mn、Fe、Pb或Ge;Me’:Al、B、P、Si、元素周期表第1、2和3族元素、或卤素;0<x≤1;1≤y≤3;1≤z≤8);锂金属;锂合金;硅基合金;锡基合金;金属氧化物,如SnO、SnO2、PbO、PbO2、Pb2O3、Pb3O4、Sb2O3、Sb2O4、Sb2O5、GeO、GeO2、Bi2O3、Bi2O4和Bi2O5;导电聚合物,如聚乙炔;Li-Co-Ni基材料,等等。
所述分隔件置于正极和负极之间,并使用具有高离子渗透性和机械强度的绝缘薄膜。所述分隔件的孔径通常为0.01-10μm,并且厚度通常为5-300μm。作为这种分隔件,例如可以使用:烯烃基聚合物,如耐化学性且疏水性的聚丙烯;由玻璃纤维、聚乙烯等制备的片材或无纺布。当使用固体电解质例如聚合物作为电解质时,所述固体电解质也可以用作分隔件。
所述电解液可以是含锂盐的非水电解液,并且由非水电解液和锂盐组成。作为非水电解液,使用非水有机溶剂、有机固体电解质、无机固体电解质等,但不限于此。
作为非水有机溶剂,例如,可以使用非质子有机溶剂,如N-甲基-2-吡咯烷酮、碳酸亚丙酯、碳酸亚乙酯、碳酸亚丁酯、碳酸二甲酯、碳酸二乙酯、γ-丁内酯、1,2-二甲氧基乙烷、四氢呋喃、2-甲基四氢呋喃、二甲亚砜、1,3-二氧戊环、甲酰胺、二甲基甲酰胺、二氧戊环、乙腈、硝基甲烷、甲酸甲酯、乙酸甲酯、磷酸三酯、三甲氧基甲烷、二氧戊环衍生物、环丁砜、甲基环丁砜、1,3-二甲基-2-咪唑啉酮、碳酸亚丙酯衍生物、四氢呋喃衍生物、醚、丙酸甲酯、丙酸乙酯等。
作为有机固体电解质,例如,可以使用包括聚乙烯衍生物、聚环氧乙烷衍生物、聚环氧丙烷衍生物、磷酸酯聚合物、聚搅拌赖氨酸、聚酯硫化物、聚乙烯醇、聚偏二氟乙烯、离子解离基团等的聚合物。
作为无机固体电解质,例如,可以使用Li的氮化物、卤化物和硫酸盐,如Li3N、LiI、Li5NI2、Li3N-LiI-LiOH、LiSiO4、LiSiO4-LiI-LiOH、Li2SiS3、Li4SiO4、Li4SiO4-LiI-LiOH、Li3PO4-Li2S-SiS2等。
所述锂盐是易溶于所述非水电解质中的物质,例如,可以使用LiCl、LiBr、LiI、LiClO4、LiBF4、LiB10Cl10、LiPF6、LiCF3SO3、LiCF3CO2、LiAsF6、LiSbF6、LiAlCl4、CH3SO3Li、CF3SO3Li、(CF3SO2)2NLi、氯硼烷锂、低级脂肪族碳酸锂、4-苯基硼酸锂、酰亚胺等。
另外,为了改善充/放电特性、阻燃性等,可以向所述非水电解液添加,例如,吡啶、亚磷酸三乙酯、三乙醇胺、环状醚、乙二胺、正甘醇二甲醚、六磷酸三酰胺、硝基苯衍生物、硫、醌亚胺染料、N-取代噁唑烷酮、N,N-取代咪唑烷、乙二醇二烷基醚、铵盐、吡咯、2-甲氧基乙醇、三氯化铝等。如果需要,可以进一步包含含卤素溶剂如四氯化碳和三氟化乙烯以赋予不燃性,并且可以进一步包含二氧化碳气体以改善高温储存特性,并且还可以包含FEC(氟代碳酸亚乙酯)、PRS(丙烯磺内酯)等。
根据一个具体例子,将锂盐如LiPF6、LiClO4、LiBF4和LiN(SO2CF3)2添加到作为高介电溶剂的环状碳酸酯EC或PC和作为低粘度溶剂的线性碳酸酯DEC、DMC或EMC的混合溶剂中,由此制备含锂盐的非水基电解质。

具体实施方式
以下,将参照本发明示例性实施方式的附图来描述本发明,然而,所述描述是为了更容易理解本发明,本发明的范围并不限于此。
图1和图2示意性地示出了根据本发明示例性实施方式的电极组件。
参照图1和图2,电极组件100具有这样的结构:其在一个方向上卷绕,并且分隔件置于正极片和负极片之间,其中,正极引线101和负极引线102在与竖直长度(y)相平行的方向上并排突出。
所述电极组件100还具有等于或大于所述竖直长度(y)的大约三倍的水平长度(x)。
通过在相对较长的水平长度的方向上分散应力,从而即使在所述电极组件100发生弯曲的情况下,这种结构仍具有相对增加的挠性,并且如图2所示,所述电极组件100的两侧端部可以在同一方向上弯曲。
这样的弯曲电极组件100可以具有曲率半径(R),并且该曲率半径(R)满足以下等式1:
S[{1/ln(x/y)}*t]=R 1
其中,t是叠层式电极组件的平均厚度(mm),x是所述电极组件的水平长度,y是所述电极组件的竖直长度,并且S是8或更大的常数,并且ln(x/y)≥1。
也就是说,在本发明中,曲率半径(R)由所述电极组件100的水平长度和竖直长度的比率决定,特别是,随着水平长度加长,所述电极组件100由于应力分散而容易弯曲,因此,所述电极组件可以具有相对较高的弯曲程度,即低曲率半径。
另外,随着所述水平长度变短,应力的分散程度也越低,因此,所述电极组件100可以具有高曲率半径,从而使得所述电极组件100具有相对平缓的弯曲形状。
在本发明中,如图2所示,曲率半径(R)基于电极组件100在纵截面上的厚度的大致平均位置,并且公式化的曲率半径(R)为不会在弯曲的电极组件110中产生例如短路或扭曲这样不希望缺陷的优选尺寸。
也就是说,应该理解,可以利用所述电极组件100的水平长度和竖直长度以及本发明中提供的等式1,从而来计算保持更稳定的弯曲形状的曲率半径(R)。
通常,对于具有电极和分隔件发生卷绕的结构的电极组件100而言,所述电极组件100具有为了卷绕而折叠的电极,因此,与电极和分隔件简单层叠的电极组件100相比,具有更高的应力。此外,由于应力集中在卷绕的中央部分上,因此当强制将电极组件变形为弯曲形状时,电极可能因强大的应力而破裂或扭曲。
因此,一般而言,不容易使得具有卷绕结构的电极组件100变形为弯曲形状,然而如上所述,本发明的电极组件100具有相对较长的水平长度,因此,应力总体上在水平方向上相对分散,导致容易变形。而且,本发明可以通过基于上面的等式1来计算允许保持更稳定弯曲形状的相应的优选曲率,从而提供具有优选曲率半径的电极组件100。
图3示意性地示出了根据本发明示例性实施方式的电池单元。
参照图3,所述电池单元具有这样的结构:电极组件100与电解液一起存储在可变电池壳体中。
另外,所述电池单元具有下述结构:所述电池壳体和所述电极组件100的位于彼此面对位置处的两侧端部在相同方向上一起弯曲,从而在所述电池单元的外表面上形成曲面。
因此,在具有曲面外形的设备或其中安装电池的部分的形状是曲面的设备中,当安装在轴向方向上形成有曲面的电池单元时,形成紧密接触结构,从而可以将不必要的空间浪费减至最小,由此允许开发有效并且具有根据消费者喜好的各种设计的设备。
图4是表示实施例1和2以及比较例1和2的容量保持率和电阻增加率的附图。
参照图4,确定的是,满足常数值S为8或更大的实施例1和2显示出比比较例1和2更好的容量保持率,同时电阻增加率并不高。
本发明将在下面的实验例中更详细地描述,但不受限于此。
<实施例1>
如下制造袋型电池单元:卷绕具有正极片、负极片和置于其间的分隔件的结构的电极叠层体,使得果冻卷型电极组件的水平长度(x)与竖直长度(y)之比为1.53,并且其厚度为0.5mm,将所述电极组件与电解液一起存储在袋型电池壳体中,并密封所述袋型壳体。
<实施例2>
除了将所述卷绕式果冻卷型电极组件制成厚度1.65mm之外,以与实施例1同样的方式制造电池单元。
<比较例1>
除了将所述卷绕式果冻卷型电极组件制成厚度2.72mm之外,以与实施例1同样的方式制造电池单元。
<比较例2>
除了将所述卷绕式果冻卷型电极组件制成厚度2.84mm之外,以与实施例1同样的方式制造电池单元。
<实验例1>
测量根据实施例1和2以及比较例1和2的电池单元的初始容量,并且测量利用根据下表1中所示的常数值而获得的曲率半径来反复弯曲各电池单元之后的容量,从而计算容量保持率。

测量根据实施例1和2以及比较例1和2的电池单元的电池电阻值,并且测量利用根据表1中所示的常数值获得的曲率半径来反复弯曲各电池单元之后的电阻值,从而计算电池的电阻增加率。

如上表2所示,根据实施例1和2的电池单元即使在以满足方程式1的曲率半径反复弯曲之后,也维持与弯曲之前的容量相比大约85%的高容量保持率,而比较例1和2的电池的容量保持率在弯曲4000次后迅速降低。由此可以看出,实施例1和2的电极组件具有高挠性和优异的电池性能。
同时,如上表3所示,与比较例1和2相比,实施例1和2中的电极组件在弯曲数次后的电阻增加率没有显著增加,并且特别是,电阻增加率在弯曲6000次后小幅上升,但在比较例1和2中,弯曲6000次后电阻增加率迅速上升。由此可以看出,实施例的电极组件具有高挠性和不显著变化的电阻值。
基于以上描述,本发明所属领域的普通技术人员可以在本发明的范围内进行各种应用和修改。
工业实用性
如上所述,本发明的电极组件和电池单元的水平长度比竖直长度相对更长,从而具有自然弯曲的形状,并且提供的优点在于能够应用于具有曲面外形的设备,或者应用于外形平坦但安装电池单元的部分的形状为曲面的设备。
Claims (8)
1.一种电极组件,所述电极组件具有在分隔件置于正极片和负极片之间的状态下以一个方向卷绕的结构,
其中,所述电极组件的水平长度(x)等于或大于竖直长度(y)的三倍,并且所述电极组件的两侧端部在相同方向上以满足以下等式1的曲率半径(R)共同弯曲:
S[{1/ln(x/y)}*t]=R 1
其中,t是卷绕后的所述电极组件的平均厚度(mm),x是所述电极组件的水平长度,y是所述电极组件的竖直长度,并且
S是8或更大的常数,并且ln(x/y)≥1。
2.根据权利要求1所述的电极组件,其中,所述曲率半径(R)是5mm至20mm。
3.根据权利要求1所述的电极组件,其中,所述水平长度(x)是50mm至500mm。
4.根据权利要求1所述的电极组件,其中,正极引线和负极引线在与所述竖直长度(y)相平行的方向上并排突出。
5.根据权利要求1所述的电极组件,其中,S是9至12的常数。
6.根据权利要求1所述的电极组件,其中,所述电极组件具有这样的结构:通过在相对较长的所述水平长度方向上分散应力,从而对于变形成弯曲形状具有相对增大的挠性。
7.根据权利要求1所述的电极组件,其中,所述卷绕进行五次或更少。
8.一种电池单元,所述电池单元具有这样的结构:根据权利要求1所述的电极组件与电解液一起被存储在可变电池壳体中,
其中,所述电池壳体和所述电极组件的位于彼此面对的位置处的两侧端部沿着相同方向共同弯曲,从而在所述电池单元的外表面上形成曲面。
