Description

将柔性配件密封到柔性膜的方法
本发明涉及一种用于将柔性配件密封在两个柔性膜之间的方法。
已知用于储存和传递可流动材料的具有刚性倾倒喷嘴的柔性袋,其通常称为“倾倒袋”。许多常规倾倒袋利用刚性倾倒喷嘴,其中所述喷嘴的基底具有小翼。每一小翼为垂直于基底的结构,每一小翼径向延伸远离(沿相对方向)所述喷嘴的环形基底。小翼用于增加环形基底的表面积以促进所述喷嘴与柔性包装膜之间的粘着性。
但是,小翼是有问题的,因为其需要专门的热封条以将小翼有效地密封到柔性膜包装。专门的热封条需要与喷嘴基底和小翼的形状配合的独特形状。另外,热封方法需要喷嘴与膜之间的精确和相配对准以确保喷嘴与膜定向平行对准。
因此,生产柔性袋充满低效,其归因于(1)专门的热封设备的费用,(2)精确密封条-小翼对准的生产停工时间,(3)精确喷嘴-膜对准所需的生产停工时间,(4)由未对准所致的失效率(泄漏),和(5)在倾倒袋生产的每个阶段所需的质量控制步骤。
本领域认识到对于生产倾倒袋的替代方法的需要。本领域进一步认识到对于避免具有小翼的喷嘴的生产缺点的改进的倾倒喷嘴的需要。
发明内容
本发明提供用于倾倒袋的改进的配件和伴随的改进的配件封口。本发明配件减少用于产生配件自身的材料的量并且还简化倾倒袋生产过程。
本公开提供一种方法。在一个实施例中,方法包括:
A.提供具有基底的配件,基底包含乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物;
B.将基底置于两个相对的多层膜之间,每一多层膜具有包含基于烯烃的聚合物的对应密封层;
C.用相对的经加热平面密封条将基底平面密封至每一多层膜,平面密封在扁平化基底末端形成相对的密封接头;和
D.用相对的弯曲密封条对相对的密封接头进行点密封。
本发明的一个优势为由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物形成的配件实现薄壁基底。
本发明的一个优势为由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物形成的配件向基底提供足够完整性以经受热封期间的压缩和足够回弹性以在热封后回弹至打开位置。
本发明的一个优势为不需要用于热封的精确密封条-小翼对准的倾倒袋生产方法。
本发明的一个优势为相比于用于刚性倾倒喷嘴的常规小翼基底的聚合材料的量,利用较少聚合材料的用于倾倒袋的配件。
本发明的一个优势为相比于使用具有小翼的喷嘴的倾倒袋生产方法,需要较少时间(较大效率)且较少失败(较高生产率)的倾倒袋生产方法。
本发明的一个优势为具有回弹性以在热封期间完全皱缩之后回弹至打开位置的柔性配件,所述配件由与密封层聚烯烃相容的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物制得。

如下测量弹性恢复。在21℃下使用InstronTM通用测试机以300%min·1变形率测量单轴拉伸中的应力-应变特性。300%弹性回复是使用ASTM D 1708微拉伸样本测定自达到300%应变的加载后接卸载循环。所有实验的回复百分比是在使用使加载返回到基线的应变的卸载循环之后计算。回复百分比定义为:

A.配件
方法包括提供配件10。如图1所示,配件10具有基底12和顶部14。配件10可由一种或多种聚合材料(即掺合物)制得。基底12含有乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物或另外由其形成。基底12可由聚合掺合物制得,所述聚合掺合物由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物和一种或多种额外聚合物组成。与乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物掺合的适合材料的非限制性实例包括低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)、线性低密度聚乙烯(LLDPE)、高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)、乙烯乙酸乙烯酯(EVA)、乙烯丙烯酸甲酯(EMA)、乙烯丙烯酸共聚物(EAA)、丙烯均聚物、丙烯共聚物、丙烯抗冲共聚物。
或者,基底12仅由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物制得。顶部14可包括适合结构(如螺纹)以与封闭件附接。
基底12具有椭圆形截面形状。在一个实施例中,基于12(预密封)的截面形状为环状或基本上环状。
在一个实施例中,基底12不包括刚性基底,诸如舟形基于和/或小翼型基底。
在一个实施例中,基底仅由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物组成,或另外仅由其形成。
在一个实施例中,整个配件10(基底12和顶部14)仅由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物组成,或另外仅由其形成。
在一个实施例中,基底具有厚度为A的壁15,如图2所示。厚度A为0.3mm,或0.4mm,或0.5mm,或0.6mm,或0.7mm,或0.8mm,或0.9mm,或1.0mm至1.2mm,或1.5mm,或1.7mm,或1.9mm,或2.0mm。在另一实施例中,壁15仅由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物组成且具有前述厚度A。

在其它实施例中,嵌段共聚物通常不具有包含不同共聚单体的第三类嵌段。在其它实施例中,嵌段A和嵌段B中各自具有基本上随机分布在嵌段内的单体或共聚单体。换句话说,嵌段A和嵌段B都不包含组成相异的两个或更多个子链段(或子嵌段),例如端部链段,其具有与嵌段的其余部分实质上不同的组成。
优选地,乙烯包含整个嵌段共聚物的大部分摩尔分数,即乙烯包含至少整个聚合物的50摩尔百分比。更优选地,乙烯占至少60摩尔%、至少70摩尔%或至少80摩尔%,其中整个聚合物的基本上其余部分包含至少一种其它共聚单体,其优选地为具有3个或更多个碳原子的α-烯烃。在一些实施例中,乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物可包含50摩尔%至90摩尔%、或60摩尔%至85摩尔%或65摩尔%至80摩尔%乙烯。对于多种乙烯/辛烯多嵌段共聚物来说,组合物包含大于整个聚合物的80摩尔百分比的乙烯含量和整个聚合物的10摩尔百分比到15摩尔百分比,或15摩尔百分比到20摩尔百分比的辛烯含量。
乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物包括各种量的“硬”链段和“软”链段。“硬”链段为聚合单元的嵌段,其中乙烯以按聚合物的重量计大于90重量%,或95重量%,或大于95重量%,或大于98重量%,至多100重量%的量存在。换句话说,按聚合物的重量计,硬链段中的共聚单体含量(除乙烯以外的单体的含量)小于10重量%,或5重量%,或小于5重量%,或小于2重量%,且可低至0。在一些实施例中,硬链段包括衍生自乙烯的所有或基本上所有单元。“软”链段是聚合单元的嵌段,其中共聚单体含量(除乙烯外的单体含量)按聚合物的重量计大于5重量%,或大于8重量%,大于10重量%,或大于15重量%。在一些实施例中,软链段中的共聚单体含量可以是大于20重量%、大于25重量%、大于30重量%、大于35重量%、大于40重量%、大于45重量%、大于50重量%、或大于60重量%,并且可以高达100重量%。
软链段可以乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物的总重量的1重量百分比到99重量百分比,或乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物的总重量的5重量百分比到95重量百分比、10重量百分比到90重量百分比、15重量百分比到85重量百分比、20重量百分比到80重量百分比、25重量百分比到75重量百分比、30重量百分比到70重量百分比、35重量百分比到65重量百分比、40重量百分比到60重量百分比、或45重量百分比到55重量百分比存在于乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物中。相反地,硬链段可以按类似范围存在。软链段重量百分比和硬区段重量百分比可以基于从DSC或NMR获得的数据计算。此类方法和计算公开于例如2006年3月15日提交的名称为“乙烯/α-烯烃嵌段互聚物(Ethylene/α-Olefin Block Inter-polymers)”的美国专利第7,608,668号中,所述专利是以Colin L.P.Shan、Lonnie Hazlitt等人的名义并且转让给陶氏全球技术公司(Dow Global Technologies Inc.),其公开内容以全文引用的方式并入本文中。确切地说,可如US 7,608,668的第57栏到第63栏中所述地测定硬链段和软链段重量百分比以及共聚单体含量。
乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物是包含优选地以线性方式接合(或共价结合)的两种或更多种化学上相异的区域或链段(称为“嵌段”)的聚合物,即包含相对于聚合烯系官能度端到端接合而不是以侧接或接枝方式接合的化学上经区分单元的聚合物。在一个实施例中,嵌段的并入在一个实施例中,嵌段在以下方面不同:所并入的共聚单体的量或类型、密度、结晶度、可归因于具有此类组成的聚合物的微晶尺寸、立体异构性(全同立构或间同立构)的类型或程度、区域规整性或区域不规整性、支化量(包括长链支化或超支化)、均质性或任何其它化学或物理特性。相较于现有技术的嵌段互聚物,包括通过连续单体添加、立体易变催化剂或阴离子聚合技术产生的互聚物,本发明乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物的特征在于聚合物多分散性(PDI或Mw/Mn或MWD)、多分散嵌段长度分布和/或多分散嵌段数量分布的独特分布,在一个实施例中,这是由于与其制备时所用的多种催化剂组合的梭移剂的影响。
在一个实施例中,乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物是以连续法产生且具有1.7至3.5、或1.8至3、或1.8至2.5、或1.8至2.2的多分散指数(Mw/Mn)。当以分批或半分批法产生时,乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物具有1.0至3.5、或1.3至3、或1.4至2.5、或1.4至2的Mw/Mn。
另外,乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物具有拟合舒尔茨-弗洛里分布(Schultz-Florydistribution)而不是泊松分布(Poisson distribution)的PDI(或Mw/Mn)。本发明乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物具有多分散嵌段分布以及多分散嵌段尺寸分布。这使得形成具有改进和可区别的物理特性的聚合物产物。多分散嵌段分布的理论益处先前已在Potemkin,《物理评论E(Physical Review E)》(1998)57(6),第6902-6912页和Dobrynin,《化学物理杂志(J.Chem.Phvs.)》(1997)107(21),第9234-9238页中加以建模和论述。
在一个实施例中,本发明乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物具有嵌段长度的最概然分布。
在另一实施例中,本发明的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物,尤其是在连续溶液聚合反应器中制得的那些共聚物具有嵌段长度的最概然分布。在本发明的一个实施例中,乙烯多嵌段互聚物定义为具有:
(A)约1.7到约3.5的Mw/Mn,至少一个以摄氏度为单位的熔点Tm和以克/立方厘米为单位的密度d,其中Tm和d的数值对应于以下关系式:

乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物还可具有:
(F)当使用TREF分馏时在40℃与130℃之间洗脱的分子馏份,其特征在于所述馏份具有至少0.5并且最多约1的嵌段指数和大于约1.3的分子量分布Mw/Mn;或
(G)大于零并且最多约1.0的平均嵌段指数和大于约1.3的分子量分布Mw/Mn。
用于制备本发明乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物的适合单体包括乙烯和一种或多种除乙烯以外的加成可聚合单体。适合的共聚单体的实例包括具有3到30个或3到20个碳原子的直链或分支链α-烯烃,例如丙烯、1-丁烯、1-戊烯、3-甲基-1-丁烯、1-己烯、4-甲基-1-戊烯、3-甲基-1-戊烯、1-辛烯、1-癸烯、1-十二烯、1-十四烯、1-十六烯、1-十八烯和1-二十烯;具有3到30个或3到20个碳原子的环烯烃,例如环戊烯、环庚烯、降冰片烯、5-甲基-2-降冰片烯、四环十二烯和2-甲基-1,4,5,8-二甲桥-1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a-八氢萘;二烯烃和聚烯烃,例如丁二烯、异戊二烯、4-甲基-1,3-戊二烯、1,3-戊二烯、1,4-戊二烯、1,5-己二烯、1,4-己二烯、1,3-己二烯、1,3-辛二烯、1,4-辛二烯、1,5-辛二烯、1,6-辛二烯、1,7-辛二烯、亚乙基降冰片烯、乙烯基降冰片烯、二环戊二烯、7-甲基-1,6-辛二烯、4-亚乙基-8-甲基-1,7-壬二烯和5,9-二甲基-1,4,8-癸三烯;和3-苯基丙烯、4-苯基丙烯、1,2-二氟乙烯、四氟乙烯和3,3,3-三氟-1-丙烯。
乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物可通过链梭移方法产生,如在以引用的方式并入本文中的美国专利第7,858,706号中所描述。确切地说,适合的链梭移剂和相关信息在第16栏第39行到第19栏第44行中列出。适合的催化剂描述于第19栏第45行到第46栏第19行中并且适合的共催化剂描述于第46栏第20行到第51栏第28行中。所述方法描述于整个文献中,但尤其是在第51栏第29行到第54栏第56行中。所述方法还描述于例如以下各者中:美国专利第7,608,668号;US 7,893,166;和US 7,947,793。
在一个实施例中,乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物具有硬链段和软链段且定义为具有:

在一个实施例中,乙烯/辛烯多嵌段共聚物以商品名INFUSETM出售,其可从美国密歇根州米德兰(Midland,Michigan,USA)的陶氏化学公司(The Dow Chemical Company)购得。在另一实施例中,乙烯/辛烯多嵌段共聚物为INFUSETM9817。

B.多层膜
所述方法包括将配件基底置于两个相对的多层膜之间。如图2所示,基底12放置或另外安置在两个相对的多层膜,多层膜16与多层膜18之间。每一多层膜具有对应的含有基于烯烃的聚合物的密封层。
在一个实施例中,每一多层膜为柔性的且具有至少两个或至少三个层。柔性多层膜为弹性、柔性、可变形并且可弯的。每一多层膜的结构和组成可相同或不同。举例来说,两个相对的多层膜中的每一个可由单独的幅材制成,每块幅材具有独特的结构和/或独特的组成、精饰或印刷。或者,每一多层膜可为相同结构和相同组成。
在一个实施例中,每一多层膜16、18为具有相同结构和相同组成的柔性多层膜。
每一柔性多层膜16、18可以是(i)共挤多层结构,或(ii)层压物,或(iii)(i)和(ii)的组合。在一个实施例中,每一柔性多层膜16、18具有至少三个层:密封层、外层和之间的连接层。连接层使密封层与外层邻接。柔性多层膜可包括一个或多个安置于密封层与外层之间的任选的内层。
在一个实施例中,柔性多层膜是具有至少两个、或三个、或四个、或五个、或六个、或七个到八个、或九个、或10个、或11个、或更多个层的共挤膜。例如用于构造膜的一些方法是通过铸造共挤压或吹塑共挤压方法、粘合剂层压、挤压层压、热层压和涂布,如气相沉积。这些方法的组合也是可能的。除聚合材料以外,膜层可包含如封装行业中常用的添加剂,如稳定剂、助滑添加剂、防粘添加剂、加工助剂、澄清剂、成核剂、颜料或着色剂、填充剂和增强剂等。特别有用的是选择具有适合的感官和或光学特性的添加剂和聚合材料。
密封层为能够将膜彼此密封且能够密封到配件的材料。适用于密封层的聚合材料的非限制性实例包括基于烯烃的聚合物(包括任何线性或分支乙烯/C3-C10α-烯烃共聚物)、基于丙烯的聚合物(包括塑性体和弹性体、无规丙烯共聚物、丙烯均聚物和丙烯抗冲共聚物)、基于乙烯的聚合物(包括塑性体和弹性体、高密度聚乙烯(“HDPE”)、低密度聚乙烯(“LDPE”)、线性低密度聚乙烯(“LLDPE”)、中密度聚乙烯(“MDPE”)、乙烯-丙烯酸或乙烯-甲基丙烯酸和其与锌、钠、锂、钾、镁盐的离聚物、乙烯乙酸乙烯酯共聚物)和其掺合物。
适用于外层的聚合材料的非限制性实例包括用于制造用于层压的双轴或单轴取向膜以及共挤膜的聚合材料。一些非限制性聚合材料实例是双轴取向聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(OPET)、单轴取向尼龙(MON)、双轴取向尼龙(BON)和双轴取向聚丙烯(BOPP)。出于结构益处,适用于构造膜层的其它聚合材料是聚丙烯(如丙烯均聚物、无规丙烯共聚物、丙烯抗冲击共聚物、热塑性聚丙烯(TPO)等、基于丙烯的塑性体(例如VERSIFYTM或VISTAMAXTM))、聚酰胺(如尼龙6、尼龙6,6、尼龙6,66、尼龙6,12、尼龙12等)、聚乙烯降冰片烯、环烯烃共聚物、聚丙烯腈、聚酯、共聚酯(如PETG)、纤维素酯、聚乙烯和乙烯共聚物(例如基于LLDPE的乙烯辛烯共聚物,如DOWLEXTM)、其掺合物和其多层组合。
适用于连接层的聚合材料的非限制性实例包括官能化的基于乙烯的聚合物,如乙烯-乙酸乙烯酯(“EVA”);顺丁烯二酸酐接枝于聚烯烃(如任何聚乙烯、乙烯-共聚物或聚丙烯)的聚合物;和乙烯丙烯酸酯共聚物,如乙烯丙烯酸甲酯(“EMA”);含有缩水甘油基的乙烯共聚物;基于丙烯和乙烯的烯烃嵌段共聚物(OBC),如INTUNETM(PP-OBC)和INFUSETM(PE-OBC),其均可购自陶氏化学公司;和其掺合物。
柔性多层膜可包括额外层,其可有助于结构完整性或提供特定特性。额外层可通过直接手段或通过使用连接到邻近聚合物层的适当连接层来添加。可向结构中添加可提供额外机械性能(如刚度或不透明度)的聚合物以及可提供气体阻隔特性或耐化学性的聚合物。
适用于任选的阻隔层的材料的非限制性实例包括偏二氯乙烯与丙烯酸甲酯、甲基丙烯酸甲酯或氯乙烯的共聚物(例如可购自陶氏化学公司的SARANTM树脂);乙烯基乙烯乙烯醇(EVOH)、金属箔(如铝箔)。或者,当用于层压多层膜中时,可使用改性聚合物膜来获得阻隔特性,如在例如BON、OPET或OPP的膜上的气相沉积氧化铝或氧化硅。

在一个实施例中,柔性多层膜是七层共挤(或层压)膜,其具有由基于乙烯的聚合物或乙烯和α-烯烃单体(如1-丁烯、1-己烯或1-辛烯)的线性或基本上线性聚合物或单位点催化的线性或基本上线性聚合物组成的密封层,所述聚合物具有90℃到106℃的Tm。外层是具有170℃到270℃的Tm的聚酰胺。膜具有40℃到200℃的ΔTm。膜具有由基于乙烯的第二聚合物构成的内层(第一内层),所述基于乙烯的第二聚合物不同于密封层中的基于乙烯的聚合物。膜具有由与外层中的聚酰胺相同或不同的聚酰胺构成的内层(第二内层)。七层膜的厚度为100微米到250微米。
C.平面密封
本发明方法包括用相对的加热平面密封条对基底进行平面密封。图2显示位于多层膜16与多层膜18之间的基底12。术语“平面密封”为用相对的平面热封条压缩基底12,使得基底壁15的相对的内部部分彼此接触,或以其它方式触碰的行为。基底12位于,或另外“包夹”于多层膜16与多层膜18之间。膜-基底-膜夹层移动到第一密封站且置于平面密封条20与平面密封条22之间。平面密封条20与平面密封条22相对,且平面密封条20、22包括朝向和远离彼此移动密封条以进行热封程序的适合结构和机构。平面密封条20和22经加热且方法包括对基底12进行平面密封,其中基底夹在多层膜16与多层膜18之间。平面密封在基底12的扁平末端23、25处形成相对的密封接头24、26,如图3中所示。
平面密封步骤包括将每一多层膜16、18邻接或以其它方式焊接到基底12的对应上部部分13a和下部部分13b,如图3和4中所示。
在一个实施例中,方法包括:
(i)对于基底选择具有115℃到125℃的熔融温度Tm1的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物;
(ii)对于密封层选择具有熔融温度Tm2的基于烯烃的聚合物,使得Tm2比Tm1小10℃到40℃。
在一个实施例中,Tm2比Tm1小10℃、或15℃、或20℃到25℃、或30℃、或35℃、或40℃。
在一个实施例中,每一密封层由具有比基底12中的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物的Tm1小10℃到40℃的Tm2的基于乙烯的聚合物形成。将平面密封条20、22加热到大于或等于密封层基于乙烯的聚合物的熔融温度(Tm2)且小于或等于基底12的熔融温度Tm1的温度(或加热到至少乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物的软化温度)。通过相对的平面条平面密封条20、22赋予的压缩力和热量同时地(i)使基底12平化或以其它方式变形;(ii)相对于基底12的外表面压缩每一多层膜16、18的密封层;(iii)在扁平基底12的相对末端上形成密封接头24和密封接头26;(iv)使密封层中的基于乙烯的聚合物熔融,(v)使存在于基底12中的至少一些乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物软化和/或熔融,(vi)形成可流动填缝剂28,其由(a)来自基底的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物、(b)来自密封层的基于乙烯的聚合物或(c)(a)和(b)的组合组成;和(vii)将上部部分/下部部分13a、13b焊接到膜16、18的对应密封层。
在一个实施例中,扁平化步骤需要以下密封条件中的一个、一些或全部:
(i)160℃、或170℃到180℃、或190℃、或200℃的温度;
(ii)700牛顿(N)、或750N到800N、或850N、或900N的压力(或密封力);
(iii)持续0.1秒、或0.5秒、或0.75秒、或1.0秒、或2.0秒、或3.0秒、或4.0秒、或5.0秒到6.0秒、或7.0秒、或0.75秒、或8.0秒、或9.0秒、或10秒的持续时间(密封时间或驻留时间)施加(i)和/或(ii)。
压缩力使基底12完全皱缩于自身,使得基底的相对扁平侧彼此接触,使基底12封闭,且给予基底12如图3中所示的线性配置B。
在一个实施例中,压缩力和加热封闭的平面密封条20、22迫使可流动填缝剂28从基底12的外表面移动或另外流动且进入密封接头24和密封接头26中。填缝剂28流动到密封接头24和密封接头26中,且将其(完全或部分)填充,如图3和4中所示。
方法包括打开封闭的平面密封条20、22,进而从基底12去除压缩力和去除热量。当封闭的平面密封条20、22被打开时,由基底12中的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物提供的弹性使得基底12能够从线性压缩配置B弹回或另外回弹且返回到打开位置(如图4中所示)。基底12的弹回运动以图4中的箭头G显示。通过弹回,基底壁15的相对的内部部分彼此远离且不再彼此接触。基底12的内部不密封到自身。通过弹回,基底12在平面密封步骤之后恢复且打开到椭圆形截面形状,如图4-6中所示。
在一个实施例中,后扁平化基底12可具有圆形或椭圆形截面C,如图4中所示。本申请人发现由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物组成且具有0.3mm到2.0mm的壁15厚度的基底12使得基底12能够在完全皱缩期间不受损害,如龟裂、开裂或断裂的情况下耐受压缩力,但有利地具有足够弹性以在打开平面密封条20、22后回弹到打开配置。
封闭的平面密封条的开口形成如图4中所示的焊接结构30,借此多层膜16在上部部分13a处焊接到基底12,多层膜18在下部部分13b处焊接到基底12,且多层膜彼此焊接,其中密封层彼此直接接触。
D.点密封
方法包括用相对的弯曲密封条对相对的密封接头进行点密封。在平面密封步骤之后,焊接结构30移动到第二密封站。在第二密封站处,相对的弯曲密封条32、34在焊接结构30上封闭。构造每一弯曲密封条32、34,使得封闭的弯曲密封条32、34的直径D大于基底12的直径E(如图5所示)。在第二密封站处,填缝剂28可流动,或另外具韧性。在封闭后,相对的弯曲密封条32、34在密封接头24和密封接头26处施加压缩力。因此,如本文所用的“点密封”是在与基底上部部分13a或基底下部部分13b不接触或最少接触的情况下用相对的弯曲密封条在密封接头24和密封接头26处施加压缩力的行为。以此方式,点密封在密封接头24处将密封层16、18和填缝剂28捏缩在一起,封闭密封接头24。类似地,点密封在密封接头26处将密封层16、18和填缝剂28捏缩在一起,封闭密封接头26。点密封填充或另外封闭密封接头24、26处的任何剩余的间隙。在捏缩期间,封闭的弯曲密封条32、34对基底上部部分13a或基底下部部分13b不施加或基本上不施加热量或压缩力。
点密封步骤持续足够持续时间施加压缩和捏缩力以使得填缝剂28能够定形和固化,进而在密封接头24、26处将多层膜16、18牢固地粘结到基底12。固化的填缝剂28在原位形成完全填充对应的密封接头24、26的小翼36、38(图6),且在基底12与多层膜16、18之间形成气密密封部分。如本文所用,“原位小翼”是作为基底12的延伸的结构,原位小翼是由乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物(来自基底)构成的可流动填缝剂(填缝剂28)的聚合固化,填缝剂在基底受热而扁平化时产生,填缝剂在膜与基底之间的密封接头随后经捏缩和封闭时固化。原位小翼由以下各者构成,或另外由其形成:(i)乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物(来自基底12),或(ii)乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物和基于烯烃的聚合物(来自密封层)的掺合物。以此方式,点密封步骤在点密封方法期间原位形成小翼。
在一个实施例中,点密封步骤(通过相对的弯曲密封条32、34)包括以下密封条件中的一个、一些或全部:
(i)18℃或20℃、或22℃到25℃、或30℃的温度;
(ii)700N、或750N到800N、或850N、或900N的压力(或密封力);
(iii)持续0.1秒、或0.5秒、或1.0秒、或2.0秒、或3.0秒、或4.0秒、或5.0秒到6.0秒、或7.0秒、或8.0秒、或9.0秒、或10秒的持续时间(密封时间或驻留时间)施加(i)和/或(ii)。
在一个实施例中,方法包括形成具有0.5mm、或1.0mm、或2.0mm、或3.0mm、或4.0mm、或5.0mm的长度F的小翼36和/小翼38。
在一个实施例中,允许焊接结构冷却。在高温下进行点密封且填充密封接头或焊接结构的其它部分处剩余的任何间隙。
E.柔性容器
方法包括形成柔性容器。相对的多层膜16、18彼此叠加且形成共同的外围边缘40,如图7中所示。方法包括沿共同的外围边缘密封多层膜16、18且形成柔性容器42。沿共同的外围边缘40形成密封部分可在扁平化步骤之前、期间或之后出现。沿共同的外围边缘形成密封部分可在点密封步骤之前、期间或之后出现。所述方法在基底12与多层膜16和18之间形成气密密封部分44。
将配件平面条密封到膜以制造容器的热量和应力受到限制。由低弹性聚烯烃(例如LDPE、HDPE)构成的配件粉碎、开裂、断裂且不可用。由聚烯烃弹性体(例如ENGAGE或VERSIFY弹性体)构成的配件可展现变形,但并不充分地回复或焊缝关闭。由交联弹性体(例如TPV)构成的配件可完全回复但不充分密封且不形成气密密封部分。本申请人出人意料地发现由本发明乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物构成的配件回复(弹回),将不密封到自身,且将使用平面条密封配件密封到容器的膜。
借助于实例而非限制,提供本公开的实例。
实例
具有下表1中示出的结构的柔性多层膜用于本发明实例中。

提供六个配件,配件1-6。每一配件1-6的尺寸相同,仅材料在配件之间改变。每一配件1-6具有厚度为0.8mm且基底直径为12mm的基底壁。

Claims (10)

1.一种用于将柔性配件密封在两个柔性膜之间的方法,其包含:
A.提供具有基底的配件,所述基底包含由(i)乙烯和(ii)C3-C20α-烯烃共聚单体组成的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物;
B.将所述基底置于两个相对的多层膜之间,每一多层膜具有包含基于烯烃的聚合物的对应密封层;
C.用相对的经加热平面密封条将所述基底平面密封至每一多层膜,所述平面密封在扁平化基底末端形成相对的密封接头,所述平面密封包括
用所述相对的平面密封条将所述基底加热到至少所述乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物的软化点的温度;
形成填缝剂,所述填缝剂包含选自由以下组成的群组的材料:来自所述密封层的熔融聚烯烃、来自所述基底的熔融乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物,和其组合;和
用所述填缝剂填充所述相对的密封接头;和
D.用相对的弯曲密封条对所述相对的密封接头进行点密封以封闭每一密封接头处的任何间隙,所述点密封包括固化所述相对的密封接头中的所述填缝剂以形成由所述固化填缝剂构成的原位小翼,且所述点密封包含在与所述基底的上部部分上无接触的情况下对每一密封接头施加压缩力。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其包含弹回所述基底以形成椭圆形截面形状。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其包含:
对于所述基底选择具有115℃到125℃的熔融温度Tm1的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物;
对于所述多层膜的所述密封层选择具有熔点Tm2的基于烯烃的聚合物,其中Tm2比Tm1小10℃到40℃。
4.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其包含:
对于所述基底选择具有115℃到125℃的熔融温度Tm1的乙烯/α-烯烃多嵌段共聚物;
对于所述多层膜的所述密封层选择具有熔点Tm2的基于烯烃的聚合物,其中Tm2比Tm1小10℃到40℃。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其包含用所述填缝剂在所述多层膜与所述配件之间的每一相对的密封接头处形成密封部分。
6.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其包含:
通过所述原位小翼在所述膜与所述配件之间的每一相对的密封接头处形成密封部分。
7.根据权利要求1到6中任一项所述的方法,其包含在所述基底与所述多层膜之间形成气密密封部分。
8.根据权利要求1到6中任一项所述的方法,其中所述相对的多层膜彼此叠加且形成共同的外围边缘;
沿所述共同的外围边缘密封所述多层膜;且
形成柔性容器。
9.根据权利要求1到6中任一项所述的方法,其中所述点密封包含在与所述基底的下部部分无接触的情况下对每一密封接头施加压缩力。
10.根据权利要求5所述的方法,其中所述点密封包含在每一密封接头处将所述密封层与所述填缝剂捏缩在一起;和
封闭每一密封接头。
