Abstract
The invention provides a character input device which can quickly select and input desired characters only by normal input operation. Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a character input device and a character input method for inputting characters by spelling syllables.
Background
Conventionally, when characters such as chinese characters are input to a data processing device or a display device such as a computer, spelling syllables such as pinyin are often used for input. For example, when a single chinese character is input using the application of the pinyin input method, the pinyin corresponding to the chinese character is input, and the single chinese character is input by selecting a desired chinese character in the list of chinese character candidates corresponding to the input chinese pinyin.
However, when the desired chinese character is a rarely-used chinese character or when the desired chinese character is not a commonly-used chinese character, the desired chinese character is often located at a relatively rear position in the list, and when there are many candidate chinese characters corresponding to the input pinyin, the user needs to perform an expansion operation such as page turning or pull-down to find a chinese character at the rear end of the list. This takes a lot of time and effort in operation, and the efficiency of the input device is also reduced.

In view of the above, some optimization methods have been proposed for the text input method of the text input device.

In the technique disclosed in patent document 2 (japanese patent application laid-open No. s 58-16342), when the user inputs a combined spelling syllable corresponding to a certain word, for example, a combined kana of a corresponding phrase formed by kana as a spelling syllable of japanese, and additionally inputs a number after the combined kana, it is considered that a partial kanji corresponding to the number in a kanji phrase corresponding to the combined kana is specified. That is, the corresponding Chinese character is selected by the number input together with the spelled syllable.
However, in such a method of confirming a desired character by specifying the position of the character in a word, a special operation such as inputting a position mark is required, and an overhead of specifying the position is required in an application.

If the combined pinyin is not accepted or if the combined pinyin is accepted but the deleted chinese pinyin is not included in the combined pinyin, step S24 determines no, and ends the display control of the current input, and inputs the selected chinese character or starts the display control of the next individual chinese character as in the conventional input method.
When it is detected that the operation unit 10 has subsequently received an input operation of a combined pinyin for a word or a word group and the input combined pinyin includes the deleted pinyin (yes at step S24), the display control unit 50 preferentially displays, among constituent chinese characters of candidate words corresponding to the combined pinyin, a chinese character corresponding to the stored deleted pinyin in the candidate list displayed on the display unit 51.

Moreover, by preferentially displaying the individual kanji presumed to be a candidate of the desired kanji in the list, the operation of page switching is saved, and the operability is improved.
Fig. 4 is a comparison between the character input device according to the first embodiment and the prior art.
As shown in fig. 4, in the conventional text input method, when the combined pinyin "shengjiang" of an input word is used, a list appearing in the pull-down menu of the corresponding candidate chinese character is, for example, "1 ginger 2 goes up and down".
