已知将香料添加剂掺入吸烟制品内以便在抽吸期间对消费者提供另外的香味。香料可用于增强在加热或燃烧吸烟制品内的烟草材料后产生的烟草香味,或提供另外的非烟草香味例如薄荷或薄荷醇。
在吸烟制品中使用的香料添加剂例如薄荷醇通常采取液体香料的形式,所述液体香料使用合适的液体载体掺入吸烟制品的过滤嘴或烟丝条内。液体香料通常是挥发性的,并且因此趋于在贮存期间从吸烟制品中迁移或蒸发。因此降低了可用于在抽吸期间调味主流烟气的香料量。
先前已提出通过例如以胶囊或微胶囊形式的香料封装降低在贮存期间挥发性香料从吸烟制品中的损失。通过例如经由压碎或熔融封装结构而打开所述结构,封装的香料可在吸烟制品抽吸之前或抽吸期间释放。当此类胶囊被压碎以释放香料时,胶囊在特定力时打开并且在该力下释放所有香料。
在掺入胶囊的许多吸烟制品中,胶囊将在一段纤维性过滤材料例如醋酸纤维素束内提供。对于这种布置,消费者需要施加于过滤嘴以便破坏胶囊的力通常高于胶囊的压碎强度,所述压碎强度是当胶囊在过滤嘴外部时破坏胶囊所需的力。为了促进香料通过消费者的释放,期望使用具有相对低压碎强度的胶囊。然而,易碎胶囊的使用从制造角度来看可能是不期望的,因为胶囊可能无法经受住它们在掺入胶囊的吸烟制品的制造期间遭受的力。
因此将期望提供掺入香料的易碎胶囊的新型过滤嘴结构,在所述结构中胶囊可更容易地被消费者压碎,同时使在吸烟制品的制造和正常处理期间不经意间破坏胶囊的风险降到最低。
发明内容
根据本发明的第一个方面,提供了具有气溶胶生成基质和烟嘴的吸烟制品。烟嘴包括至少部分填充有颗粒材料的腔,并且含有至少部分由颗粒材料围绕的至少一个液体香料的易碎胶囊,使得破坏烟嘴内的胶囊以释放液体香料所需的力是胶囊的固有爆裂强度的不到三倍。
根据本发明的第二个方面,提供了用于吸烟制品的过滤嘴,所述过滤嘴包括至少部分填充有颗粒材料的腔,并且含有至少部分由颗粒材料围绕的至少一个液体香料的易碎胶囊,使得破坏烟嘴内的胶囊以释放液体香料所需的力是胶囊的固有爆裂强度的不到三倍。胶囊的固有爆裂强度是当不接触颗粒材料且在吸烟制品外部时胶囊的爆裂强度。
通过减少与当胶囊在过滤嘴外部时相比较(或与当胶囊嵌入CA束中时相比较)破坏胶囊所需的力,在胶囊周围的颗粒材料的提供使得消费者更容易破裂胶囊。该结构允许使用具有相对高的固有爆裂强度的胶囊,同时使破坏胶囊所需的力维持在低水平。胶囊因此可由消费者容易地破坏,但足够强以有效经受住在制造期间的力。颗粒材料的包括因此允许使用具有比胶囊在束上提供时更高的固有爆裂强度的胶囊。如下文更详细地讨论的,颗粒材料和胶囊的性质可选择为定制颗粒材料在压碎胶囊中的作用或影响一旦胶囊被压碎颗粒材料就如何与胶囊的香料相互作用,或两者。
优选地,破坏烟嘴中的胶囊所需的力小于约50牛顿、更优选小于约40牛顿、甚至更优选小于约30牛顿。优选地,破坏烟嘴中的胶囊所需的力为至少约15牛顿、更优选至少约20牛顿。在一些优选实施例中,破坏烟嘴中的胶囊所需的力为约15牛顿至约50牛顿、优选约20牛顿至约50牛顿、更优选约25牛顿至约40牛顿。
可替代地或另外,胶囊可具有至少10牛顿、优选至少约20牛顿、更优选至少约25牛顿的固有爆裂强度。在本发明的一些实施例中,胶囊可为更高爆裂强度的胶囊,例如具有至少约30牛顿的固有爆裂强度。
可替代地或另外,胶囊优选具有小于约40牛顿、更优选小于约30牛顿的固有爆裂强度。胶囊优选具有约10牛顿至约40牛顿、且更优选约10牛顿至约30牛顿、最优选约15牛顿至约30牛顿的固有爆裂强度。
在一些实施例中,胶囊的固有爆裂强度为约10牛顿至约40牛顿,破坏烟嘴中的胶囊所需的力为约15牛顿至约50牛顿,并且破坏烟嘴中的胶囊所需的力是胶囊的固有爆裂强度的不到约三倍,更优选是胶囊的固有爆裂强度的不到约两倍。
优选地,颗粒材料具有小于胶囊的最大直径的平均粒径。可特别优选的是该平均粒径是胶囊的最大直径的至少约两倍小,并且甚至更优选地,该平均粒径是胶囊的最大直径的至少约三倍小。此类更小的粒径帮助降低胶囊表面和任何一个粒子之间的接触区域,并且因此允许从该粒子施加于胶囊的力更直接集中于胶囊的特定区域上。这可改善当消费者对过滤嘴或烟嘴施加压碎力时以更低的所需力破裂胶囊的可能性。
优选地,颗粒材料的粒子具有至少约10网目的网目尺寸。在此类网目尺寸以下,胶囊表面和任何一个粒子之间的接触区域可变得不期望地高,使得从该粒子施加于胶囊的力在胶囊的表面上太广泛地扩散。这可导致力从消费者的手指到胶囊较不有效的转移。
优选地,颗粒材料的粒子具有不超过约30网目的数量平均网目尺寸。如果平均粒度在约30网目以上,则颗粒材料可与细粉相比较。在此类结构中,胶囊更自由在腔周围移动,并且因此较不容易对其施加力。此外,如果平均粒度在约30网目以上,则在腔内存在很少的自由空间用于烟气穿过。这可导致提供不期望高的抽吸阻力(RTD)的腔段。
相应地,在优选实施例中,颗粒材料的至少95%粒子具有约10至约30网目、更优选约12至约20网目的网目尺寸。在此类网目尺寸范围以上,颗粒材料在将压碎力从消费者转移到胶囊时较不有效。在此类网目尺寸范围以下,颗粒材料趋于表现得更像粉末。
颗粒材料的粒子可具有任何合适的形状。然而,优选地,颗粒材料的粒子具有不规则或非球形形状。即,优选地,颗粒材料的多个粒子具有小于约0.8的球形度值、更优选小于约0.6的球形度值、最优选小于约0.6的球形度值。球形度是物体如何球形(或非球形)的量度。通过定义,物体的球形度(Ψ)是具有与给定物体相同体积的球体的表面积与物体的表面积的比率,如由下文给出的式表示的:
相应地,完美球体具有球形度值1。
通过具有不规则或非球形形状,胶囊表面和任何一个粒子之间的接触区域可降到最低,并且因此从该粒子施加于胶囊的力可更直接集中于胶囊的特定区域上。这可改善当消费者对过滤嘴或烟嘴施加压碎力时胶囊破裂的可能性。
优选地,颗粒材料具有至少约80%、更优选至少约90%的球盘硬度。具有此类硬度的颗粒材料可帮助降低破坏胶囊所需的力,因为来自消费者的力更直接转移至胶囊,而不是在周围材料(与醋酸纤维素束一样)中吸收或被周围材料分散。
优选地,颗粒材料具有至少约0.3g/cm3的堆密度。更优选地,颗粒材料具有小于约0.9g/cm3的堆密度。在一些优选实施例中,颗粒材料具有约0.4至约0.7g/cm3、甚至更优选约0.45至约0.55g/cm3的堆密度。此类堆密度显著高于通常与标准醋酸纤维素束相关的那种(0.15g/cm3),并且提供在将压碎力从消费者的手指直接转移到胶囊时更有效的材料。
颗粒材料可由任何合适的一种或多种材料形成。在一些优选实施例中,颗粒材料包括吸附剂材料。术语“吸附剂”指捕获或转换一种或多种烟气成分的材料。合适的吸附剂材料的例子包括活性炭、包覆碳、活性铝、氧化铝、沸石、海泡石、分子筛和硅胶。特别优选的吸附剂材料是活性炭和沸石,因为这些材料通常具有期望的硬度、形状和大小性质,以用于将压碎力从消费者的手指有效转移到胶囊。
当颗粒材料包括吸附剂材料时,吸附剂材料的性质可进行调整,以使吸附剂材料在压碎胶囊方面的效应达到最大和/或影响一旦胶囊被压碎吸附剂材料就如何与胶囊的香料相互作用。例如,可选择吸附剂的孔隙率,以便定制香料通过颗粒吸附剂材料的吸收。特别地,在一些实施例中,可期望选择具有合适孔尺寸分布的吸附剂,所述合适孔尺寸分布可导致已从胶囊释放的香料暂时截留在吸附剂中,但随后在抽吸循环的稍后阶段时从吸附剂释放。不希望受理论束缚,认为这可导致在吸烟制品的抽吸持续时间自始至终香料的更逐渐释放。
相应地,优选吸附剂材料的至少约30%的总孔体积由在约2nm至约50nm范围内、且更优选在约10nm至约50nm范围内的孔尺寸提供。在一些实施例中,吸附剂材料的超过约50%的总孔体积由在约2nm至约50nm范围内、更优选在约10nm至约50nm范围内的孔尺寸提供。不希望受理论束缚,认为此类孔尺寸分布可导致在吸烟制品的抽吸持续时间自始至终香料的更逐渐释放。可替代地或另外,吸附剂材料优选具有小于约1500、更优选小于约1000、且甚至更优选小于约350平方米/克的BET表面积。优选地,吸附剂材料具有至少约200的BET表面积。
颗粒材料可替代地或另外可包括非吸附剂材料,其是通常不被称为吸附剂的材料。例如,颗粒材料可包括沉淀碳酸钙或凝聚植物粒子,例如凝聚的薄荷颗粒或柠檬香桃木颗粒。此类粒子通常具有不规则形状,并且因此在将压碎力从消费者的手指转移到胶囊时可为特别有效的,并且非吸附剂性质阻止颗粒材料吸收从胶囊释放的大量材料。
优选地,在烟嘴的纵向方向上,腔具有比胶囊的最大尺寸大至少约1.5mm、更优选大至少2mm的长度。优选地,在烟嘴的纵向方向上,腔具有比胶囊的最大尺寸大小于约12mm、更优选大小于约7mm的长度。此类腔大小可允许胶囊完全且更均匀地被颗粒材料围绕。这可提供在胶囊周围更均匀的力分布,并且还可确保压碎力有效转移至胶囊,与消费者将其指尖放置在过滤嘴或烟嘴何处无关。
腔至少部分填充有颗粒材料,使得来自消费者的手指的压碎力可更有效地转移至胶囊。这允许破坏过滤嘴中的胶囊所需的力是胶囊的固有爆裂强度的不到三倍。为了增强这个的有效性,优选颗粒材料占据腔中尚未由胶囊占据的至少60%空间。更优选地,颗粒材料占据腔中尚未由胶囊占据的至少80%空间,并且甚至更优选地,颗粒材料占据腔中尚未由胶囊占据的至少90%空间。此类高百分比填充可确保压碎力有效转移至胶囊,与消费者将其指尖放置在过滤嘴或烟嘴何处无关。
优选地,胶囊包括封装液体、最优选液体香料的外壳。优选地,外壳具有至少30微米、更优选至少50微米的厚度,以提供充分高的固有爆裂强度,使得胶囊可经受在制造期间的力。壳可由任何合适的材料形成,所述材料例如选自单独或其混合物或与明胶组合的结冷胶、琼脂、角叉菜胶、支链淀粉胶(pullulan gum)或改性淀粉的水胶体。
胶囊可以各种物理形式形成,包括但不限于单部分胶囊、多部分胶囊、单壁胶囊、多壁胶囊、大胶囊和小胶囊。
胶囊可具有任何合适的形状,例如球形、卵形或圆柱形。然而,优选地,胶囊是球形的。这可包括具有至少约0.9的球形度值、且优选大约1的球形度值的胶囊。球形度是物体如何球形的量度。通过定义,物体的球形度(Ψ)是具有与给定物体相同体积的球体的表面积与物体的表面积的比率,如由下文给出的式表示的:
相应地,完美球体具有球形度值1。优选地,大致球形的胶囊包括大致球形的外壳。
胶囊的液体香料可含有任何合适的香料。合适的香料包括天然或合成薄荷醇、薄荷、留兰香、咖啡、茶、调味品(例如肉桂、丁香和/或姜)、可可、香草、水果香料、巧克力、桉树、天竺葵、丁香酚、龙舌兰、杜松、茴香脑、芳樟醇及其任何组合。特别优选的香料是薄荷醇。
胶囊优选具有约2mm至约7mm、更优选约3mm至约5mm的直径。在一些优选实施例中,胶囊具有约3.5mm的直径。
胶囊可具有任何合适的固有爆裂强度。例如,胶囊可具有约10牛顿至约25牛顿的固有爆裂强度。此类胶囊已知具有足够高的固有爆裂强度,使得它们通常经受住它们在掺入胶囊的吸烟制品的制造期间遭受的力。然而,在一些实施例中,优选使用具有比这甚至更高的固有爆裂强度的胶囊。特别地,可优选使用具有至少约25牛顿、更优选至少约30牛顿的固有爆裂强度的胶囊。此类胶囊甚至比吸烟制品过滤嘴中通常使用的那些更强壮,并且因此甚至更能够抵抗在吸烟制品的制造期间的破坏。此类‘高爆裂强度胶囊’通常不被视为合适的,因为当在过滤嘴或烟嘴中时,它们太硬使得消费者无法破坏。然而,本发明的结构将允许此类胶囊的使用。例如,在一些实施例中,具有至少约25牛顿、更优选至少约30牛顿的固有爆裂强度的胶囊可用于过滤嘴中,在所述过滤嘴中破坏烟嘴内的胶囊所需的力小于约50牛顿。
为了测定含有胶囊的烟嘴或吸烟制品是否落入本发明的范围内,应获得适当数目例如20个同样设计的吸烟制品或烟嘴。这些样品一半中的胶囊应以使胶囊状态中的任何变化降到最低的方式小心地取出。这些胶囊的固有爆裂强度随后应使用本领域已知的合适测量装置进行测定,所述测定装置例如Alluris型FMI-220C2-数字测力计0-200N(由AllurisGmbh&Co.KG,德国商购可得)。剩余一半样品(换言之,胶囊仍在烟嘴内的那些)随后应经历相同测试,其中任何力施加表面施加于含有胶囊的烟嘴或吸烟制品的腔区域。胶囊的固有爆裂强度或破坏烟嘴内的胶囊所需的力通过力相对于压缩的曲线中的峰指示。关于胶囊的固有爆裂强度和破坏烟嘴内的胶囊所需的力的分别测量值随后应跨越样品集求平均值且比较结果。该测试在大约22℃和60%相对湿度下进行。
过滤嘴可具有任何合适的构造。然而,优选地,过滤嘴是塞-空间-塞过滤嘴,具有限定含有颗粒材料的腔和它们之间的胶囊的上游段和下游段。上游段和下游段各自可包括吸附剂和/或香料材料。
在一些实施例中,过滤嘴包括提供上覆腔的窗的透明包装材料。这可允许消费者看见腔中的颗粒材料。当液体香料具有颜色或其他视觉指示剂(其将允许消费者确定胶囊已被破坏)时,这可为特别有利的。
本发明的吸烟制品和过滤嘴可使用现有技术产生,伴随对现有腔填充设备所需的最低限度修饰。特别地,腔可在现有腔填充设备上产生,所述现有腔填充设备已进行修饰以具有三个阶段。在第一阶段,腔空间至少部分填充有一部分例如50%的待使用的颗粒材料。在第二阶段,胶囊置于占据腔的颗粒材料一部分之上。在第三阶段,剩余部分例如50%的颗粒材料置于胶囊之上,并且随后过滤嘴由包装材料包围以形成腔。
根据公开内容的过滤嘴可附接至烟丝条以形成吸烟制品的全部或至少部分。优选地,过滤嘴与烟丝条轴向对准。在许多实施例中,过滤嘴用接装纸与烟丝条连接。
在一些实施例中,吸烟制品是常规香烟,其中气溶胶形成基质以圆柱形烟丝条的形式提供,并且其中烟嘴包括过滤嘴。
上文与本发明的一个方面有关描述的特点也可应用于本发明的另一个方面。
尽管本发明已在上文与含有颗粒材料的腔中的胶囊的使用有关进行描述,但应了解本发明还可应用于在含有颗粒材料的腔内含有超过一个胶囊的吸烟制品和过滤嘴。本发明的腔因此可包括两个或更多个胶囊。
术语“上游”和“下游”指所述吸烟制品或过滤嘴的部件关于主流烟气从气溶胶形成基质被抽吸穿过过滤嘴或烟嘴的方向的相对位置。

图1是根据本发明的一个实施例的吸烟制品100的透视图。吸烟制品100包括以大致圆柱形烟丝条101形式的气溶胶形成基质和大致圆柱形过滤嘴103形式的烟嘴。烟丝条101和过滤嘴103以端部对端部关系轴向对准,优选彼此邻接。烟丝条101包括包围抽吸材料的外部包装材料105。烟草优选是烟丝或烟草切割填料。过滤嘴103包括包围过滤嘴材料的过滤嘴包装材料(未示出)。烟丝条101具有上游点燃端部109和下游端部111。过滤嘴103具有上游端部113和下游口端部115。过滤嘴103的上游端部113邻近烟丝条101的下游端部111。含有液体香料的易碎胶囊120置于过滤嘴103的腔内。腔还含有以活性炭颗粒形式的颗粒材料125,其围绕易碎胶囊120。胶囊具有3.5mm的直径,并且腔具有沿过滤嘴的纵轴的5mm的长度。

实例
制备且测试两种含有胶囊的过滤嘴。第一过滤嘴(样品A)是标准含胶囊过滤嘴,其中3.5mm直径的胶囊嵌入醋酸纤维素束的单个段内。第二过滤嘴(样品B)是依照本发明的过滤嘴。即,第二过滤嘴具有塞-空间-塞构造,其中长11mm的醋酸纤维素束的上游段和长11mm的醋酸纤维素束的下游段限定在它们之间宽5mm的腔。腔含有由70mg活性炭粒子围绕的3.5mm直径的胶囊。活性炭粒子具有12至20网目的网目尺寸。两种样品的过滤嘴均由厚80微米的过滤嘴包装材料和厚40微米的接装纸包围。接装纸在其内表面上涂布有一层硝酸纤维素,以阻止液体从胶囊迁移到过滤嘴的外表面。在两种样品中,3.5mm直径的胶囊具有大约15牛顿的爆裂强度。
Alluris型FMI-220C2-数字测力计0-200N装置(由Alluris Gmbh&Co.KG,德国商购可得)用于将逐渐增加的力施加于两种过滤嘴的含胶囊区域,并且记录胶囊在其下将破坏的力。在样品A中,发现在45牛顿的力已施加于过滤嘴后胶囊在过滤嘴中破坏。在样品B中,发现在22牛顿的力已施加于过滤嘴后胶囊在过滤嘴中破坏。
Claims (12)
1.一种吸烟制品,所述吸烟制品包括:
气溶胶生成基质;和
烟嘴,所述烟嘴包括至少部分填充有颗粒材料的腔,并且含有至少部分由所述颗粒材料围绕的液体香料的易碎胶囊,其中所述颗粒材料包含至少一种吸附剂材料,其中破坏所述烟嘴内的胶囊以释放所述液体香料所需的力是所述胶囊的固有爆裂强度的不到三倍,并且
其中,当在依照ASTM D3802进行的球盘硬度测试中进行测量时,所述颗粒材料的硬度为至少90%,并且所述至少一种吸附剂材料具有总孔体积,并且所述吸附剂材料的至少30%的总孔体积由在2nm至50nm范围内的孔尺寸提供。
2.根据权利要求1所述的吸烟制品,其中所述易碎胶囊具有至少10牛顿的固有爆裂强度。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的吸烟制品,其中所述易碎胶囊具有至少25牛顿的固有爆裂强度。
