发明内容

具体实施方式
本发明致力于一种运动球,该运动球包括多面板式的包覆件,其中所述面板的一个或多个侧边被粘合在一起而不需要缝合并且用位于面板的内表面上的加强材料在面板边界处进行加强。包覆件包括已经被加热粘合到加强材料坯件的包覆面板坯件。
现在参照图1到11,示出根据本发明的优选实施例的运动球10,例如英式足球。如图1A和1B所示,运动球10包括具有传统的空气阀25的可充气的气囊20。运动球10还包括加强包覆件30,其由已经被热粘合在一起的一个或多个包覆面板坯件35和一个或多个加强材料坯件65形成。包覆面板坯件35在其上具有面板图案,例如包括根据典型的英式足球图案的十二个五边形面板和二十个六边形面板的面板图案。面板图案由内部面板边界43限定,加强材料仅沿着内部面板边分界位以便模仿传统的接缝。一个或多个可选的中间层(未示出)可位于加强包覆件30和气囊20之间,如本领域内的技术人员已知的。
可充气的气囊20典型地由任何挠性材料做成。示例性的材料包括丁基橡胶,天然橡胶,丁基橡胶和天然橡胶的组合物,乳胶,及其他弹性材料。在特别优选的实施例中,气囊20由80%的丁基橡胶和20%自然橡胶做成。可充气的气囊适合于通过空气阀25充分地充气以在加强包覆件30内形成基本为球形的形状。
加强包覆件30包括已经被热粘合在一起的一个或多个包覆面板坯件35和一个或多个加强材料坯件65。如在此使用的,术语“热粘合”,或者其变体,被限定为两个元件之间的固定方法,其包括熔化或软化至少一个元件以使得这些元件的材料在冷却时彼此固定。通常,热粘合可包括熔化或软化包覆材料和加强材料以使得所述材料在冷却时被固定在一起。相应地,热粘合通常不包括使用缝合或者粘合剂。而是,两个元件通过热直接粘合。在一些情况下,然而,可利用缝合或粘合剂以补充通过热粘合进行的元件接合。
在一示例性方面,加强包覆件30包括由包覆材料做成的两个或更多包覆面板坯件。包覆面板坯件由面板片材形成,所述面板片材包括具有如下更详细论述的面板图案的连续的包覆材料片材。加强材料被施加到包覆面板坯件以便有助于热粘合包覆面板坯件在一起。
包覆材料32优选地包括一个或多个合成皮革,热塑性的氨基甲酸乙酯,聚氨酯,聚氯乙烯,热塑性弹性体,橡胶,各种其他的热塑性或热固性的材料,或其他合适的材料,不论是合成的还是天然的,它们通常是耐用的和耐磨的。在一些配置中,包覆材料可具有组合典型地被共同挤压成型的两种或更多种材料的层状配置。例如,包覆材料外部部分可由聚氨酯或聚氯乙烯形成,包覆材料的内部部分可由纺织品元件(例如,编织物或非编织物)形成。也就是说,充当衬垫或支撑件的纺织品元件可被粘合到聚氨酯或聚氯乙烯并且相邻气囊定位。包覆材料典型地具有在大约0.5毫米到4毫米(例如,大约0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,2.5,3.0,3.5,或4.0毫米)范围内的厚度。
在优选实施例中,具有面板图案40的面板片材37使用流动成型模制设备由包覆材料形成。大体上,如图2所示,示例性的流动成型模制设备110包括第一电极112和第二电极114,其中两者都被连接到电磁能量源(未示出),电磁能量源是可操作的以在电极之间产生交变的射频电场。交变的射频电场可在从1MHz到500MHz范围内的频率下产生,优选地在从10MHz到200MHz范围内的频率下产生,以及最优选地在27.12MHz或40.68MHz的频率下产生。典型地,能量被施加大约10到30秒(例如,大约10,15,20,25,或者30秒)。还包括在所述设备内的是第一模具116和第二模具118,它们一起在其间限定面板片材模制腔120。包覆材料32被布置在面板片材模制腔120内以便将包覆材料32模制成面板片材37。
已经使用图2的模制设备进行模制的示例性的面板片材37被示出在图3A、3B和4中。在一优选方面中,面板片材37的整个配置为以使得它大体上为平坦的。也就是说,如图4所示,每个多边形(例如,六边形和五边形面板)的顶点大致位于同一平面内。然而,面板片材37的面板图案40内的每个面板三维弯曲以遵循成品球10的曲率半径。面板图案内的面板由多个内部面板边界43分界。
将认识到,第一模具116具有用于形成面板片材中的面板图案40中的面板的顶部表面的多个图案化的面板凹陷117a和用于形成内部面板边界43的多个突起117b。同样地,第二模具118具有用于形成面板图案40中的面板的底部表面的多个面板突起119a和用于形成内部面板边界43的凹陷119b。凹陷和突起的配置和图案将取决于在最终比赛用球中所希望的面板图案。例如,在优选的方面,第一模具116的图案化的面板凹陷117a和突起117b将能够形成如图3A所示的面板片材37的顶部。同样地,第二模具118的面板突起119a和凹陷119b将能够形成如图3B所示的面板片材37的底部。
面板片材37还可以被模制成以使得它包括各种表面状况(topographical)特征或表面特征,例如,肋,通道,杆,图形,标记等。进一步地,表面特征可包括在所述表面上的鹅卵石状的或酒窝状的纹理(类似于传统篮球中的纹理)。尽管这样的表面状况特征或表面特征可在模制工艺过程中形成,但是,将认识到,这样的特征可在模制之后,例如通过用激光蚀刻或用合适的机械装置压花而得以施加。

本领域内的技术人员将认识到,面板片材37中的面板图案40可以为各种形式。例如,尽管示例性的面板图案40被描述为具有等边的五边形和六边形的形状,但是,所述面板可具有非等边的形状。面板图案可包括以棋盘形布置方式结合以形成包覆件的各种其他形状(例如,三角形的,正方形的,矩形的,五边形的,六边形的,梯形的,圆形的,椭圆形的),并且所述面板图案还可包括非规则的或非几何形状的形状。
在形成面板片材37之后,面板片材37被切割以形成包覆面板坯件35。包覆面板坯件包括面板图案40。多余的包覆材料32被移除以便提供围绕包覆面板坯件的周边的自由边缘,而面板图案40通过结合自由边缘和内部面板边界得以保持。多余的包覆材料32优选地通过冲切移除。

加强材料坯件65由加强材料60组成。加强材料60优选地包括以下的一种或多种:合成皮革,热塑性的氨基甲酸乙酯,聚氨酯,聚氯乙烯,热塑性弹性体,橡胶,各种其他的热塑性或热固性材料,或其他合适的材料,不论合成还是天然的,它们通常是耐用的和耐磨的。在一些配置中,包覆材料可具有层状配置,该层状配置结合典型地被共同挤压成型的两种或更多种材料。例如,包覆材料的外部部分可由聚氨酯或聚氯乙烯形成,包覆材料的内部部分可由纺织品元件(例如,编织物或非编织物)形成。也就是说,充当衬垫或支撑件的纺织品元件可粘合到聚氨酯或聚氯乙烯并且紧邻所述气囊定位。加强材料60可以是与包覆材料32相同的或不同的。加强材料的厚度大约为0.5毫米到4毫米(例如,大约为0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,2.5,3.0,3.5,或4.0毫米)。
包覆材料和加强材料的选择,以及每个的厚度的选择,被优选地选择为以使得每个以及气囊的总重量符合适用的运动规则,例如,英式足球情况下的国际足联的运动规则。
加强材料65被配置为和成形为以使得其可与包覆面板坯件35的自由边缘48,和优选地还有内部面板边界43对准以形成加强球包覆件或包覆部分。加强材料坯件65典型地通过将合适的材料冲切成希望的配置而进行制备。
示例性的加强材料坯件65示出在图6中。加强材料坯件65包括多个连接的多边形轮廓70,其中所述多边形轮廓的每个顶点72包含从其延伸的放射状臂74。每个多边形轮廓的一个放射状臂74具有Y状的端部76,而每个多边形轮廓的四个其他放射状臂74大致是直线的且是等长的。典型地,加强材料坯件的宽度大约为6到25毫米(例如,大约为6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,或25毫米,和优选地大约10到18毫米,和最优选地大约14毫米的宽度)。该宽度被设计成以遵循传统的手缝合接缝的宽度。在一些实施例中,加强材料坯件的宽度比传统的手缝合接缝稍宽以便改进所述球的整体性能。
将容易认识到,加强材料坯件65的配置可包括多个加强材料坯件部分而不是如图所示的单个加强材料坯件。例如,图6所示的五个五边形轮廓的每个可是单独的加强材料坯件部分。进一步地,每个五边形的各部分可单独制造(例如,加强材料坯件部分可以为五边形的两个侧边)。由单片加强材料组成的加强材料坯件65(与多个部分相反)是优选的,因为它减少了与运动球的制造有关的时间。
进一步地,将认识到,加强材料坯件65的配置将根据包覆面板坯件35中的面板图案40变化。因而,加强材料坯件可根据包覆面板坯件中的面板图案40的特性而包括三角形的,正方形的,矩形的,五边形的,六边形的,梯形的,圆形的,或者甚至椭圆形的轮廓。
在形成包覆面板坯件35和加强材料坯件65之后,这两个然后热粘合在一起以形成所述比赛用球的包覆件或包覆部分。在优选实施例中,所述材料使用流动成型模制设备,例如使用电介质加热,被粘合在一起。示例性流动成型模制设备200示出在图7-8中。通常,流动成型模制设备包括顶部电极212和底部电极214,其中两者都被连接到电磁能量源(未示出),电磁能量源是可操作的以在电极之间产生交变的射频电场。电极212,214优选地为球状的以使得球的半球将被均匀加热,如通常在Marc的美国专利号4,268,238中论述的,该美国专利以参考的方式被并入。

为了热粘合,交变电场可产生在从1MHz到500MHz的频率下,优选地产生在从10MHz到200MHz范围内的频率下,以及最优选地产生在27.12MHz或40.68MHz下。能量典型地施加大约10到80秒(例如,大约10,20,30,40,50,60,70,或80秒)。加强材料坯件65因而热粘合到包覆面板坯件35以使得加强材料沿着包覆面板坯件35的所有或部分的自由边缘(其被热粘合并且因而在热粘合之后不再“自由”)定位,以及优选地沿着内部面板边界48,定位。球包覆件的第一半球包覆部分50因而形成,其大致示出在图8A和8B中。球包覆件的第二半球包覆部分52可被做成相似的形式(因而图8A和8B被标记为半球包覆部分50,52)。
为了组装运动球,加强球包覆件30的第一和第二半球包覆部分50,52被热粘合在一起。在有关的方面中,球包覆件的第一和第二半球包覆部分50,52仅在每个半球包覆部分的重叠区域处热粘合在一起。两个半球包覆部分50,52中的一个还具有在面板之一中,例如在中心五边形面板44a中,的用于气囊阀25的位置的冲切孔55。

为了构造根据该实施例的比赛用球,流动成型模制设备的第一模具416和第二模具418被分开。加强球包覆件30的第一和第二半球包覆部分50,52(与气囊20一起,为了简洁在图10A中未示出气囊20)被放置在所述模具的模制腔内。模具被闭合,气囊(通过模具和一个半球包覆部分中的孔,大致如上所述)被典型地充气在0.6巴和0.8巴之间。气囊起到内部模具的作用以帮助保持两个半球形部分对准。加强球包覆件30的第一和第二半球包覆部分50,52优选地使用电介质加热被热粘合在一起。交变射频电场能产生在电极之间。将认识到,半球包覆部分50,52的介电常数大于气囊20内的空气的介电常数,并且还大于模具416,418和电介质环422a,422b的介电常数。例如,在典型的实施例中,气囊内的空气的介电常数大约为1,电介质环的介电常数大约为2,外部模具416,418的介电常数大约为3,半球包覆部分的介电常数大约为6。从而,电流优选地行进通过位于第一和第二电极412,414之间的重叠部分51中的半球包覆部分50,52。结果,与交变电场有关的能量优选地被在两个半球包覆部分50,52的重叠部分之间引导从而将两个半球包覆部分50,52热粘合在一起。在将半球包覆部分50,52加热在一起之后,形成最终的运动球10。加强包覆件因而包括由多个面板组成的包覆材料,其中加强材料沿着包覆材料的内部面板边界热粘合,以及沿着之前的“自由”边缘(其在热粘合之后不再自由)热粘合。被插入到球包覆件的半球包覆部分之一的孔55中的空气阀25允许根据需要给气囊20充气或放气。
图10C示出了在热粘合工艺过程中大致在图8A和8B中所示的球包覆件的两个半球包覆部分50,52的对准。在示例性实施例中,每个半球包覆部分50,52的边缘包括与第二多边形面板(五边形面板44)交替的第一多边形面板(六边形面板46)。六边形面板46每个都具有三个端部六边形面板边缘:完全没有加强材料的第一端部六边形面板边缘45a,和第二和第三端部六边形面板边缘45b,45c,其一部分被覆盖有来自加强材料坯件65的重叠加强材料。也就是说,如图8B和10C最佳所示,第二和第三端部六边形面板边缘45b,45c每个都具有没有加强材料的第一端部六边形面板边缘部分47和具有重叠加强材料的第二端部六边形面板边缘部分49。五边形面板44每个都具有覆盖有重叠加强材料的端部五边形面板边缘45d(图8B和图10C)。

在另一个示例性实施例中,包覆面板坯件35被热粘合到适于在单个步骤中形成加强包覆件30的流动成型模制设备500中的加强材料。也就是说,并非在第一步骤中形成两个半球包覆部分50,52(或多个其他的部分),然后在第二步骤中热粘合在一起,而是整个球加强包覆件30在单个步骤中形成。
示例性流动成型模制设备500示出在图11中。总体上,流动成型模制设备包括外部电极512和罩在气囊20中的内部导电流体。内部导电流体起到内部电极514的作用。外部电极512和内部电极514都被连接到电磁能量源(未示出),电磁能量源是可操作的以在电极之间产生交变电场。还包括在所述设备内的是外部模具516。气囊20起到内部模具518的作用。模制腔被限定在外部模具516和内部模具(气囊)518之间。整个配置(外部电极512和外部模具516二者)是球状形状,虽然外部电极512和外部模具516可包括多个部分550,552以允许放置包覆面板坯件35,加强材料坯件65,气囊20,和最终的球10到所述设备中以及将它们从所述设备中移除。外部模具516包含用于接收包覆面板坯件35中的面板图案40中的相应的面板的多个图案化的面板凹陷517a以及要与包覆面板坯件35的内部面板边界43和自由边缘48对准的突起517b。进一步地,外部电极和外部模具512具有至少一个孔519,其中导电流体514可被注入或移除,和/或射频发生器可附连到电极。

交变电场然后产生在外部电极512和内部电极514之间。交变电场可产生在从1MHz到500MHz的范围内的频率下,优选地产生在从10MHz到200MHz的范围内的频率下,以及最优选地产生在27.12MHz或40.68MHz的频率下。模制设备的部分550,552然后被打开以移除具有加强包覆件30的球10。加强包覆件因而包括由多个面板组成的包覆材料,其中加强材料沿着包覆材料的内部面板边界热粘合,以及沿着之前的“自由”边缘(其在热粘合之后不再自由)热粘合。液体传导流体然后可经由孔519被移除,气囊20可使用已经被插入到孔519中的空气阀25充空气或其他气体。

如上所述的,本发明关于各种实施例进行了描述。在一个实施例中,加强包覆件30包括两个半球包覆部分50,52,每个半球包覆部分50,52包括近似50%的球包覆件。每个半球包覆部分包括热粘合在一起的包覆面板坯件35和加强材料坯件65。半球包覆部分50,52的每个然后被热粘合在一起以形成整个球10。在第二实施例中,包覆件包括包覆面板坯件35和加强材料坯件65,它们热粘合在一起以在单个步骤中形成球状的加强包覆件30以使得没有形成中间半球包覆部分50,52。
根据以上所述,将认识到,可利用一个或多个包覆面板坯件35和一个或多个加强材料坯件65。例如,每个包覆面板坯件可包括大约10%,20%,30%,40%,50%,60%,70%,80%,90%的球包覆件,或它们的一些组合。作为更具体的例子,半球包覆部分可使用包括两个六边形面板和五边形面板的四个包覆面板坯件以及包括两个五边形面板和两个六边形面板的第五包覆面板坯件得以形成。也就是说,第一包覆面板坯件可包括内部五边形面板44a,内部六边形面板46a,外部六边形面板46f,和外部五边形面板44b。第二包覆面板坯件可包括内部六边形面板46b,外部六边形面板46g,和外部五边形面板44c。第三包覆面板坯件可包括内部六边形面板46c,外部六边形面板46h,和外部五边形面板44d。第四包覆面板坯件可包括内部六边形面板46d,外部六边形面板46i,和外部五边形面板44e。第五包覆面板坯件可包括内部六边形面板46e,外部六边形面板46j,和外部五边形面板44f。包覆面板坯件35的各种图案和配置基本上没有限制。同样地,加强材料坯件65的多边形轮廓不必被连接在一起,每个多边形的各个部分可单独制造(例如,五边形的两个侧边)。本发明想到包覆面板坯件35和加强材料坯件65的各种组合,只要加强材料与内部面板边界对准。
可以预见到,根据本发明做成的运动球具有能提高所述球的性能的结构元件。加强材料模仿其中单个面板被手缝合在一起以形成内部接缝的传统的运动球的整个配置。然而,通过模制包覆件,运动球与可在手缝合时具有不完美性的球相比是完美的球形。另外,通过消除对包覆件中的缝合接缝的需要,可制备防水球。进一步地,包覆件的结构继续允许球在冲击位置的变形。从而,在英式足球的情况下,例如,英式足球将以类似于其中面板是手缝合在一起的传统的英式足球的方式旋转。通常,具有根据本发明的包覆件的球实际上应当比使用手缝合面板做成的传统的相应运动球更快地回弹到它的原始形状。这是有利的,因为根据本发明的运动球在空气将展现出更少的摆动。

Claims (25)

1.一种用于制造运动球的加强包覆部分的方法,包括:
在模制设备中模制连续的包覆材料面板片材,其中所述连续的包覆材料面板片材包括多个面板,每个面板弯曲以具有所述运动球的曲率半径,其中所述连续的包覆材料面板片材配置为以使得所述面板的每个一体连接到所述片材的相邻的面板;
从所述连续的包覆材料面板片材切割包覆面板坯件;
提供由加强材料形成的加强材料坯件;以及
粘合所述包覆面板坯件到所述加强材料坯件以提供加强包覆部分。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述包覆面板坯件包括六个五边形面板和十个六边形面板。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述粘合步骤包括热粘合所述包覆面板坯件到所述加强材料坯件。
4.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述粘合步骤包括利用粘合剂粘连所述包覆面板坯件到所述加强材料坯件。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述加强材料坯件包括多个连接的多边形轮廓。
6.如权利要求1的方法,其中,所述包覆面板坯件的所述面板由内部面板边界和自由边缘限定,其中所述方法进一步包括对准所述加强材料坯件与所述内部面板边界和所述自由边缘的一个或多个以使得所述加强材料坯件沿着所述内部面板边界和所述自由边缘粘合到所述包覆面板坯件。
7.如权利要求6所述的方法,其中,在所述粘合步骤过程中,所述包覆材料和所述加强材料沿着所述内部面板边界和所述自由边缘流到一起。
8.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述模制设备包括:
第一电极和第二电极;
定位在所述第一和第二电极之间的第一模具和第二模具,其中所述第一和第二模具在它们二者之间限定模制腔;以及
可操作以在所述第一和第二电极之间以及跨过所述模制腔产生交变电场的能源。
9.如权利要求8所述的方法,其中,所述模制步骤包括:
将所述包覆材料放置在所述模制腔中;以及
通过跨过所述模制腔产生所述交变电场而加热所述包覆材料以形成所述连续的包覆材料面板片材。
10.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述包覆面板坯件包括由编织物或者非编织物支撑的聚氨酯、聚氯乙烯、合成皮革或者其组合。
11.一种用于制造运动球的加强包覆部分的方法,包括:
在模制设备中模制连续的包覆材料面板片材,其中所述连续的包覆材料面板片材包括多个面板,每个面板弯曲以具有所述运动球的曲率半径,其中所述连续的包覆材料面板片材配置为以使得所述面板的每个一体连接到所述片材的相邻的面板;
从所述连续的包覆材料面板片材切割包覆面板坯件;
提供包括由加强材料形成的多个连接多边形轮廓的加强材料坯件;以及
粘合所述包覆面板坯件到所述加强材料坯件的所述连接多边形轮廓以提供加强包覆部分。
12.如权利要求11所述的方法,其中,所述包覆面板坯件包括六个五边形面板和十个六边形面板。
13.如权利要求11所述的方法,其中,所述粘合步骤包括热粘合所述包覆面板坯件到所述加强材料坯件。
14.如权利要求11所述的方法,其中,所述粘合步骤包括利用粘合剂粘连所述包覆面板坯件到所述加强材料坯件。
15.如权利要求11所述的方法,其中,所述包覆面板坯件的所述面板由内部面板边界和自由边缘限定。
16.如权利要求15所述的方法,进一步包括对准所述加强材料坯件与所述内部面板边界和所述自由边缘的一个或多个以使得所述加强材料坯件沿着所述内部面板边界和所述自由边缘粘合到所述包覆面板坯件。
17.如权利要求16所述的方法,其中,在所述粘合步骤过程中,所述包覆材料和所述加强材料沿着所述内部面板边界和所述自由边缘流到一起。
18.如权利要求11所述的方法,其中,所述模制设备包括:
第一电极和第二电极;
定位在所述第一和第二电极之间的第一模具和第二模具,其中所述第一和第二模具在它们二者之间限定模制腔;以及
可操作以在所述第一和第二电极之间以及跨过所述模制腔产生交变电场的能源。
19.如权利要求18所述的方法,其中,所述模制步骤包括:
将所述包覆材料放置在所述模制腔中;以及
通过跨过所述模制腔产生所述交变电场而加热所述包覆材料以形成所述连续的包覆材料面板片材。
20.如权利要求11所述的方法,其中,所述包覆面板坯件包括由编织物或者非编织物支撑的聚氨酯、聚氯乙烯、合成皮革或者其组合。
21.一种用于制造运动球的方法,包括:
形成第一加强包覆部分,其包括步骤:在模制设备中模制第一连续包覆材料面板片材,其中所述第一连续包覆材料面板片材包括多个面板,每个面板弯曲以具有所述运动球的曲率半径,其中所述第一连续包覆材料面板片材配置为以使得所述面板的每个一体连接到所述片材的相邻的面板;从所述第一连续包覆材料面板片材切割第一包覆面板坯件;提供由加强材料形成的第一加强材料坯件;以及粘合所述第一包覆面板坯件到所述第一加强材料坯件以提供第一加强包覆部分;
形成第二加强包覆部分,其包括步骤:在模制设备中模制第二连续包覆材料面板片材,其中所述第二连续包覆材料面板片材包括多个面板,每个面板弯曲以具有所述运动球的曲率半径,其中所述第二连续包覆材料面板片材配置为以使得所述面板的每个一体连接到所述片材的相邻的面板;从所述第二连续包覆材料面板片材切割第二包覆面板坯件;提供由加强材料形成的第二加强材料坯件;以及粘合所述第二包覆面板坯件到所述第二加强材料坯件以提供第二加强包覆部分;以及
粘合所述第一加强包覆部分到所述第二加强包覆部分。
22.如权利要求21所述的方法,其中,所述第一加强包覆部分和所述第二加强包覆部分每个包括所述运动球的半球包覆部分。
23.如权利要求21所述的方法,其中,通过施加交变电场,所述第一加强包覆部分粘合到所述第二加强包覆部分。
24.如权利要求21所述的方法,其中,通过施加交变电场,所述第一和第二包覆面板坯件分别粘合到所述第一和第二加强材料坯件。
25.如权利要求21所述的方法,其中,通过利用粘合剂,所述第一和 第二包覆面板坯件分别粘合到所述第一和第二加强材料坯件。
